Sir amon's style in checking papers is a step by step solution, every step guarantees a point pero kung nagshort cut ka, a deduction is made. merong nga akong kakila, negative 18 ang nakuha niya sa quiz hehe. Magaling magexplain si sir amon. Sa exam, step by step,
ay ultimo pag add and subtract, ipapakita mo, using mdas rule hehe, yung tipong bakit ganito. Madali sana ang exams niya kaso pag pinakita mo ang step by step, lalong humahaba ang exams niya.

Be careful not to forget the degrees, units, angle bar dapat nasa loob ang numbers at hindi sa labas. No encircling or boxing the final answer. Sa sobrang prepared ang batch namin, nagtanong sa higher batches kung ano ang style ng checking during exams, ayun nakasurvive ang batch namin na walang bagsak.

Ang alam namin terror daw, kaya nagulat ang batch namin, na hindi siya nambagsak hehe.

Wag niyo gagalitin ang prof na ito.

Naguulit rin ng exams, yung nasa quiz, nasa prelims ulit same problem, what the heck.

Exams: Average.

Side note: Parang hindi na sa EE lab ang office niya, kasi nung ee reunion, wala siya. At wala siya sa facebook ng mga EE prof. Bakit kaya.

Prof ku yung dalawang yan.
Engr. Go - binased lang niya yung exams namin ay galing sa libro mismo, pinaghalo halo niya yung problems. Example: Ang problem sa libro ay circle, then yung second ay square, gagawin niyang square inscribed in a circle parang ganun, pero nasa libro parin same given. Yung multiple choice questions niya ay galing rin sa libro na may author na Vetta.
Three to four problems per long quiz, merong multiple choice. Sobrang baba magbigay ng partial points pag hindi mo nakuha ang final answer.

Engr. Guevarra hehe, mababa magbigay ng grade kasi pag60 ang average mo, 3.0 ka lang hehe
Finals exam, 100 questions, multiple choice.

Exam type: 3 word problems. 33 points each, +1 for the effort.

Merong common denominator ang dalawa, hindi magaling magturo.

** Engr. Amon is the absolute "terror" of EE ...... though have heard that he has mellowed down through the years.

He's a very good professor who teaches the subject & at the same time, he teaches students on how to approach problems in a very disciplined & structured way - tools that you will greatly appreciate when you're in the field working.

He will mostly use questions from past exams (aka blue book) ..... though this is never a guarantee of an easy time. In fact, it indirectly forces the students to study & review everything.

** Engr. Go is a protege of Amon's style of "hard-discipline" ..... will mostly use questions from past exams as well. He's a nice fellow, once you get to know him.

** It's a pity that profs like Engr. Johnny Tan (yes he is the author of that EE book) and Dr. Teofilo De Guzman (he was the only UST prof then to have a doctorate in mathematics) have left the faculty ...... those were some greatest terrors to ever teach at UST Engg. They were terrors & good professors all at the same time.

OT: Dr. Teofilo De Guzman was a mad-genius ..... looks a lot like Hitler & teaches like Hitler. He will write his lectures on the board, the doors, the walls, etc ...... however, he will imprint those algorithms in your head like no one else can.

I've had more than a few classmates literally shake in fear during Engr. Amon's classes ...... but like I said, he has mellowed down through the years.

A few of Engr. Amon's famous quirks & styles:

** Say it's July 13 ..... if you're in seat #13 (note that his classes are always seated alphabetically), then prepare to be GRILLED for the better part of his class. You will be the unlucky star of the day.

** Sometimes, he would throw his chalk during the start of the class ..... the student who is nearest the chalk when it lands, will be the unlucky star of the day.

** Any student who cannot stand up to his intense grilling, etc ...... Engr. Amon will request that student to pick anyone of his classmates to answer for him instead.

In a way this was a bit funny, since it forced everyone in the class to prepare hard & try not to make eye-contact with the star of the day.

Salamat dito! Hay nako, totoo yan about sa Stoichiometry. Maraming nasira ang buhay dahil dyan. First time bumagsak dahil sa Stoichiometry. Isang section din yun. I was one of the lucky people who made it above the passing.

Ma'am Evie and Dean Abet ang Unit 2 and 3 namin. SO FAR, NOT GOOD. Lahat kami depressed after Quiz 1 sa Unit 3. God knows nag-aral kami dun. Kakabigay lang ng quiz namin kanina sa Unit 3, it was a disaster. Kanina din Quiz 1 namin sa Unit 2. Mas okay kaysa sa distillation pero sana above passing.

Isabay mo pa ang thesis mo na Xx trials. Hay goodluck engineering students!

Ah, those were the days of Unit Operations. Nagpahirap sa buhay namin.

mahirap ang higher years ng Chem eng kasi gagamit ng graphical and trial and error method solution. Pero mas nadadalian ako sa stoich kaysa ibang chem eng subjects.

Ganoon po ba talaga sila? Lagi po kasi all or nothing kapag sa test e, either you get the full credit or you earn 0 in each item kapag mali ka. </3 Tapos hindi pa po ako sure sa prelims which is I think 120 items

Kaya nga sinasala tayo sa first 2 years, para hindi na tayo magulat sa point system style sa majoring.

Ganyan talaga ang EE prof mapa-majoring man, or minor ang EE. Sa amin, ang hindi all or nothing sa subject ko lang nung majoring ay yung mga Theology, English, Social Sciences, and EE Tech kasi objective type of questions yun, except EE Tech 4, kasi computation rin hehe.

Pati rin sa laboratory, hay 7 choices kada problem, in 30 seconds dapat hulaan mo, swerte ka kung maka 4 o 5 na mahula. No partial points kung wala ka nahulaan or naitama man lang haha.

Tip lang, yung 1st problem sa EE or prof ay under EE department ay usually mahirap. Sa gitna nilalagay yung madaling problem hehe

Naku, mahirap pala ang majoring years sa EE. Kailangan nang mag-ipon na talaga ng good study habits sa first two years palang under ES.
