napaka patronizing naman ng reply na toh. the person was merely giving information on the topic. After all, the topic states "best brand" which could mean a number of things. didn't say... best yet ECONOMICAL brand.

oh well, you're entitled to your opinions. (yun nga lang, there is always a better way to put them across.)

My parents have an LG w/ a digital control... it is still good after 5 years or so of use.

Our Whirlpool is just over a year old and it's pretty solid as well.

    Any feedback re: Smeg?

I agree with @baklita, I owned a SAMSUNG Ref bought 2006. Hindi ko gusto performance niya, though, manual frost siya, hindi maganda ang frosting system nya, sumasabog ang tubig sa ilalim ng vegetable rack., malinis naman yung alulod sa ilalin ng freezer compartment (1 door lang po siya). Add more to my dismay is the way the water evaporate sa loob ng ref, sobrang messy. Even if you did not manually frost, nagkakaraoon ng moist sa loob na halos ga-luha makikita mong nakakapit sa mga hard plastic around. Kakainis maglinis.

anyway .. from what Ive heard, GE and White Westing House are the BEST brands when it comes to refrigerators. for those looking for "mura pero maganda" -- i dunno if such things do exist .. they say Condura ..

ano ba ang right way ng pag maintain ng ref? (cleaning, etc..)
if there's a separate thread for this kindly post the link. thanks
pag maintain ng ref is pag nilinis ng interior use a plain foam & baking soda 2 tablespoon mix it to a warm water sa palangana and yung other parts na pwedi tangalin pwedi na hugasan ng dishwashing liquid soap and pag ng brownout ioff agad yung ref kasi pag bumalik yung kuryente at naka on pwedi siyang masira.

if i may suggest, why don't you buy yung small freezer separate sa ref para mas ok dahil ang freezer ay minsan mo lang ilabas yung iluluto mo while yung ref eh bukas ka ng bukas, matipid pa sa kuryente kc kung wala ng laman yung freezer before your next marketing, pwede mo pang e-off.. mas mura pati kung ref na walang freezer & you can buy a smaller ref.. ewan ko lang ha, but for me it is more practical.. the frozen food stays fresh longer kc laging nakasara.. the brand should be the one who has fast & reliable local service..

^ Samsung is only nice to look at. Their TVs are good. but their ref sucks. our old Samsung ref works well, but ANY models from year 2000 onwards have poor quality.

My personal experience: our 3 yr old no frost ref started accumulating ice when it turned a year and a half old. I've had 3 technical visits so far and since its out of warranty I had to pay for service fee. All 3 visits turn out to be expensive cleaning sessions. Guess what the last service personnel told me?
I had to DEFROST it every 3 months! Hello! kaya nga No Frost binili namin e. It's a common problem daw.

Their washing machine sucks too. I was told by their tech person during a service visit that we are lucky the board of the washing machine broke before 1 year. Thus, being covered by warranty. usually, it becomes defective after a year pa daw.

I have a friend who works in samsung. thus, when we started buying appliances, most of it were samsung.

worthy investment naman ang ref, this is where we keep most of our food, and on siya 24/7. go with a reliable brand. GE siguro or fisher n paykel.

We have a Whirlpool and we're happy with it so far. Kung sabagay 3 yrs old pa lang Whirlpool namin but no problems yet.

May sort of dilemma nga kami nun, kasi ang dungis na nung itsura ng ref lol. It was bought in 1972 and lo and behold, it's still working at mas mabilis pang lumamig kaysa sa mga bagong ref. Now there are two other much newer refrigerators beside it, but it's likely 'Yagit' will outlive us all.

Kelvinator kami, 1-door na manual frost. On the first 6 months, nabasag yung freezer door pag bukas kasi ang lakas mag accummulate ng ice. Libre naman palit kasi under warranty. Kaso nabasag na naman sya ulit. May crack narin yung ibaba ng freezer. Haay!

The oldest ref we have is a Westinghouse, still live and kickin after 37 years. The other ones we have is a GE and a National, both only a few years young at 5-8 yrs. All 3 never required servicing yet. The Westinghouse is the grand dame in the kitchen. But between the newer ones, I'm partial to the National unit.

LG ang ref namin. so far ok naman. kaya lang pag nagdefrost yung container ng tubig kailangan pang tanggalin ang screw para itapon yung laman. pero easy on the budget kasi yung price ng ref kaya ok na rin.

  19. #79
anybody has tried fisher & paykel ref?
