we bought a 12 cu ft white westinghous/electrolux, no frost ref about 3 years ago. i remember when my mom and i were inspecting the model unit at sm, i was concerned with the gasket. it looked pretty worn and the door didn't close properly. my mom and the sales rep dismissed it saying it's a demo unit so it wears and tears more than a home unit. so what the hey, we bought it.

3 years later - yep, the gasket is worn and the ref doesn't close properly anymore. to think we don't have any kids in the house and we are by nature not brusque with appliances.

this is our 2nd ref only and compared to our old GE unit which lasted for more than 20 years - let me just say that maybe we should've bought another GE unit instead.

    Refrigerators...

Hello Pexers, we're planning to buy an 8 to 10 cf top freezer ref and would really like to hear your suggestions. We're thinking of choosing from these three brands:

    whirlpool
    general electric
    electrolux/white westinghouse

My mother's first ref was GE and stay for almost 12 years, ganun katibay ang GE,then I bought her White Westinghouse dahil may sariling ice crushers yun na nagustuhan ng mother ko.Mga 5 years na rin sya pero no problem naman si nanay ko.

Ours was a demo unit which was purchased cheap at Anson's. Sixteen years no problem at all kahit ngayon, except for a few rusty pitting sa metal plate ng side panel.

ok, this may seem like a "wala kayo sa lolo ko post",

but our GE refrigerator has been with us for more than 25 years, it's even older than any one of our mom's children.

    wala kayo sa ref namin...

GE sana. pero the refs sold locally.. quality wise feels just so wrong.

if you can, import. mura lang naman ang ref sa mga home depots and have it sent via balikbayan box senders. they can even go to home depot and pick the ref up for you.

American size refs are much better than European for one and one reason: the size. Real Estate Space is a plenty in the states, and they can have big fridges over there. the opposite is true in europe.

just look at the ovens ng elba.. or smeg.. you can't fit anything inside it.
and look at the ovens ng average american home. it's atleast twice the space.

We have sharp no frost refs, malaki space ng freezer at shelfs sa ilalim. Halos lahat magaganda na labas ngayon, just ask for the warranty. But among the three, white westinghouse for me.

TIA.

^ ang alam ko mas matipid ang 2-door...

and tingnan mo din yong EER (energy efficiency ratio), the higher the EER means the system is more efficient.

    thanks asvn
    More advice please

ang alam ko na matipid sa kuryente are yung refs where the freezer is in the bottom drawer.

Just my two cents...

    sub zero pag ref. freezer
    wolf pag oven
    migle pag washing machine
