    Sino nakaka alam sa tagalog word ng "teak."

    'Yung kulay o kahit puno, 'di ba? Ang Filipino nito ay "teka" mula sa salitang español na "teca." Sa aking pagkakaalam ay wala itong katumbas sa Filipino kaya malamang ay hiniram ito mula sa español.

    Halimbawa: Kulay teka ang palda ni cyanade.

    Salamat sa pag reply. Tama ka nga siguro wala nga talagang katumbas sa Filipino ang "teak." Teak tree/wood, yan kasi ang gusto ko sanang kahoy sa furniture, baka kako meron tayong ganyan sa Pilipinas, naghahanap ako kung san makakabili kaya inaalam ko kung ano ang katumbas sa salitang Filipino.

    Meron ding tinatawag na "tectona", "hati" o "jati" na nasa isang pamilya lang sila ng punong teka. Maraming mga ganyang sa Timog Silangang Asya, lalo na sa Bohol. Naalala ko kasi na may isinulat akong artikulo noon at nabanggit ko 'yang mga 'yan.

    Eto may nakita akong isa pang impormasyon mula sa Britannica:

    Teak (genus Tectona grandis) is a large deciduous tree of the family Verbenaceae, or its wood, one of the most valuable timbers. Teak has been widely used in India for more than 2,000 years. The name teak is from the Malayalam word tekka.

    marami kang makikitang kahoy na ganyan sa batangas at mindoro. kadalasan ginagamit hilang panggatong sa pangluto

    *** iba naman ginagamit na pangtukod ng bintana o halige ng bahay.

    ^ teak is also used as a lamination for tables, countertops,
    cabinets, and wood panels. i like its woodgrain pattern.

    Teak wood ang favorite finish material ko sa mga cylinders ko sa autoCAD. Maganda ang teak kung ikukumpara sa ibang wood. Di ko alam ang tagalog nya, hehe.

    There's a district in Makati where the streets are named after trees - Mayapis, Tanguile, Yakal, Camachile, Kamagong, Sampaloc, Lawaan, Dao, Guijo, Tindalo, and (fanfare, please)...TEKA!
