wow thanks for the inputs... really need inspiration on this ..

correct me on this one..they're saying kasi that the industry is overpowered by architects...so there's really no demand for interior designers..

i heard that they're offering a 2 yr program in PSID..certification lang ata... will that make me eligible to take the board exam,if ever, given that I dont have a diploma in that field?

Hello! I 'd like ask anyone here if they would like to form a of 5 people groupto enroll at TLRC (san juan area)for a 2day Crash course with certificate on Basic Interior Design. This trainning center would only take in a minimum of 5 as this course is seldom preferred by most of their enrollees.
****Basic Interior Design (15 hrs / 2 days),the seminar fee with certificate is only 3,399***

    Anyone interested? pls. PM me

    Thanks!

    ang alam ko
ang UP Interior Design is more on related sa Architecture (may hardcore architecture subjects sila na wala sa ibang ID schools)
weird lang kasi ang UPID ay nasa College of Home Economics sa UPD
more on family and community service sila

ang UST Interior Design is more on FIne Arts (CFAD)
    magagaling sila magrender at magdrawing

kung board exams ang paguusapan, check niyo yung board exams sa period ng mga 5-10 years hindi sa isang taon lang,

pero ang top schools talaga ay UP at UST
sila yung nagiging professionals, sila yung nasa industry
    yung mga nagboard exam

for freelancers naman madaming taga PSID dun.

so if you want to be an Interior Designer
take the board exam first bago ka matawag na interior designer

di naman decoration ng ID eh

    better take the good schools
di man sila yung laging binabanggit sa mga tv shows or magazines
sila naman yung nagtatagal at nagtatagumpay sa industry

hi guys! would know lang if there's an interior design school that offers short term courses?

    Buhayin @ng thread!

I'm an Interior Design graduate from PUP Sta. Mesa Manila.
The course is running for around 7 years now and have produced more or less 20 licensed interior designers.
Most PUP Interior Design grads (both licensed and not) are working for various architecture and interior design firms, graphic design companies, furniture manufacturers and retailers, contractors and suppliers both here and abroad.
Since PUP is a state university, the tuition fee is lower (PhP15 per unit, 600-700 per semester including lab and misc fees).
As for board exam ratings, since 2007 PUP has been in the top schools with more than 50% of the takers passing. Some passers from PUP has also landed in the Top 10.

Below are the top-performing schools for the Interior Design Board exam last 2009.
    A. WITH 25 OR MORE EXAMINEES

RANK | SCHOOL | TOTAL NO. OF EXAM. | TOTAL NO. PASSED | % PASSED
    1 UST | 92 | 55 | 60%
    2 PSID | 28 | 14 | 50%

    B. WITH 5 TO 24 EXAMINEES

RANK | SCHOOL | TOTAL NO. OF EXAM. | TOTAL NO. PASSED | % PASSED
    1 UP-DILIMAN | 17 | 15 | 88.00%
    2 PUP-MAIN-STA. MESA | 12 | 8 | 67.00%
    2 ST. SCHOLASTICA'S COLLEGE | 6 | 4 | 67.00%

To those who want to study @ PUP, you must first pass the PUP College Entrance Test and meet the minimum grade requirement for the course of your choice. For Interior Design, at least 85% of HS Gen. Ave., and applicants must pass the drawing exam. The PUP Interior Design Program is under the College of Architecture and Fine Arts.

To those who want a certificate/short course, inquire @ PSID.

if you want affordable but good quality interior design education, go to PUP Sta. mesa.
Just after 7 years the PUP BS Interior Design has been doing above average in the board exams (67% passing rate last 2007 and 2009, placing 2nd to UP last year). It also produced champions in design competitions such as Estilo de Vida and PDDCP furniture design competitions.
PUP graduates are also highly sought after by employers as most (not all) have good approach towards work and are not "reklamador" according to employers.

The perils of unlicensed interior-design practice

    By Alex Vergara
    Inquirer

Filed Under: Culture (general), Lifestyle & Leisure

MANILA, Philippines - Since interior design became a four-year course in the Philippines with the first batch of graduates from the University of Santo Tomas in the late 1950s, industry veteran Belen Morey has yet to come across a case of someone dying from a badly painted wall or a poorly designed ceiling. Well, at least not directly.

But before the practice of interior design was regulated, first under a specialty board supervised by the board of architecture in 1983 and later under its very own board with the enactment of Republic Act 8534 or the Interior Design Act of 1998, cases of misrepresentation as well as fraud by both pseudo and supposedly legitimate practitioners had been rampant.

And if ill feelings resulting from seemingly overpriced and half-baked interior design jobs (see sidebar story) could kill, not a few dissatisfied clients would have been long dead and buried by now.

    ......

Belen Morey, by the way, helped hammer out UST’s trailblazing interior design curriculum.

UP Diliman, Bachelor of Interior Design is the best because they produce the topnotchers in the board exams. They also have courses in Architecture and Landscape Architecture which is very important in passing the Board exams.

Hello. I'm a college freshie and will be taking up BSID in UPD. I already have a block with 3 different archi subjects.(Arch1,A2 and A10) I'm quite confused if I'll be sticking to BSID or shift to Archi, even though gusto ko tlgng maging intdesigner. Feeling ko po kasi mas maraming job offers ang mga architect kesa intdesigners. Totoo po ba tlg ito? Tapos, how much po ba ang nae-earn ng mga intdesigners/architects? Ang intdesigner po ba pwede maging architect at the same time, or is it only the architects that can be intdesigners all at the same time?

Sorry, I've bombarded you with a lot of questions.
Thank you. Your answers will be of big help to me.

You should go try De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BS-InD), with consortium with Philippine School of Interior Design, they just produce topnotch Interior Design students, as seen in the Interior Design Board Examination.

^ She wasn't asking for a good school where she can take interior design.

Top Performing Schools: 2010 Interior Design Licensure Examination Results in the Philippines

    Where's CSB?
    _____
    OnT:
I think the job of the architect is more focused on laying out and designing the structure of a building, while an interior designer is on the decoration side, choosing the color of paint to use, choosing what wallpaper to use, ... so, there really is a big difference.

In the US, the average salary of an architect doubles that of the interior designer's. I'm not sure about the figures here in the Philippines.
