    When my dad went to South Korea, he had a US visa, so that was already good enough. But that was a long time ago, I don't think just having a US visa is enough these days, you'll really need to apply for a visa to South Korea now.

    I've only stayed in the Seoul airport for 30 minutes, just for a layover en route to San Francisco, no need to apply for a visa for that obviously, since I didn't go past the gates, haha.

    Here is the link to the official tour website of the Korea Tourism Organization. It has almost everything that a tourist needs.

    Hey guys! I need your help..I'm planning to take my NCLEX with my friend in SK because there are no available slots in May and June in HK and Saipan. We decided to take it in Seoul but is uncertain of the outcome of the visa. And worst, it's our first time to apply for any visa and we're living in Visayas and Mindanao. Is there anyone here who applied for a korean visa to take NCLEX?? Is it that hard?? Australia is my 2nd option but my friend waited for 4 weeks to obtain her visa and that's too long compared to 5 working days in a Korea. Can anyone give me some tips so that I can succesfully get a visa??? Please guys, help me..

    Thanks a lot!

    Like most other embassies, Korea will require that you provide proof that you are going there for a good reason, and that they can reasonably expect you to return to the Philippines. So whether it's for a test, a vacation, or anything else, it is important to be able to show that you are financially able to afford the trip, and have some ties to the Philippines that will necessitate that you return.

    For instance, they have certain options for students. If you are a student, you can apply with proof of your student status, and they are more likely to grant you a visa as long as you are still pursuing your studies. The mentality is that you won't just skip out on your college education to work illegally in Korea. Koreans take academics very seriously, so this is a good way to show you have ties in the Philippines and that you'll be going back.

    The same thing goes for employees, businesspeople, etc... If you show them a good reason for your return (ex. you have a business registration and your company is worth X amount... or you have an employment certificate and a contract that shows you will still be working after you get back...) then you have a very high likelihood of being granted a visa.

    Visas for short-term purposes (taking a test), etc. applied for by people with neither student status (fresh grads or drop-outs) nor some viable employment/ownership status will be more difficult. They may not buy the argument you're just going for a test, unless you show them an invitation letter from a Korean company/sponsor that verifies you'll be there for that purpose. Ask them for a letter with their special seal (it's a small round or square stamp, in red ink), as this is the official "signature" in Korea.

    Whatever happens, I've found these to be very helpful for applicants:

    1) An invitation letter from a Korean person/organization, stating your travel dates, and taking responsibility for your trip;
    2) Enough money in the bank or enough hard assets to prove you have the means to travel. A good way to do this is to provide your own income tax return (ITR);
    3) (For younger people) a letter of sponsorship from your father (assuming he has a good, high-profile job) stating that he is going to sponsor your trip in full, and will be responsible for all expenses while you're there. Don't forget to attach proof of your father's income, including an ITR.

    If you have all of these, apart from the other requirements, you should be ok. That invitation letter from a Korean, in particular, is invaluable. Koreans trust each other a heck of a lot more than they trust us.

    Good luck!

    avonlea, does the korean embassy give a 59 days visa or 30 days visa automatically pag gratis? i wanted to ask for a multiple entry, kaso sabi ng officer, di daw sila nagbibigay ng multiple entry sa mga pinoy.

    updated... if you are a Philippine passport holder and are coming from / going to Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or US and you have a confirmed onward ticket AND a visa or re-entry permit from any of those countries mentioned, you could travel to Korea up to 30 days visa-free

    another update... if you've been allowed entry to Korea four times within two years or ten times (in your lifetime), you could enter Korea visa-free (just make sure you have a return flight ticket, the immigration official may or may not ask to see it)

    wow nice! so parang transit lang. pero ok na din. i think it only means korea is not your final destination so kahit na galing ka pinas tapos punta ka korea tapos after 30 days or less may ticket ka to australia. pwede din diba? i don't know correct me if i'm wrong.

    one needs to secure a visa to south korea since it is not a member of ASEAN....pag ang Pinoy travels to an ASEAN member country no need for a visa..(that is what i remember from our history class)

    possible pero syempre kumuha ka muna ng re-entry for two years para makabalik ka... or kuha ka ulit ng visa with your husband's invitation
