    ^^You're welcome.

Look at Sharon Cuneta's teeth. It's unconfirmed, but I sortakinda heard a rumor that her front teeth are veneers. By the way, I think she's a very nice and sincere person. In case she really did get veneers, it would not diminish/take away from her star appeal in anyway ( lest anyone accuse me of belittling her by stating she has veneers). She's also a very successful businesswoman.

Want to hear something interesting? I know of a fellow Filipino dentist who studied Esthetic Dentistry at UCLA, there in the States. Her teacher, who's a prosthodontist, charges $5,000 for every Porcelain crown. What's even more interesting is that Porcelain Veneers are usually (though not always) more expensive than Porcelain Crowns. Imagine that

It might be a good idea for you to look for a dentist here in the Philippines who is affiliated with the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. It's a group of dentists who have immersed themselves in Esthetic Dentistry work. To that end, they regularly hold seminars which aim to tweak and improve their clinical skills.

Please pm my fellow moderator, Misa Hayase, for more details on PAED.

Oh, a lot. Can't name names though. I have dentist friends who have actors as clients, and believe me, a lot of them have veneers.

    Dental Veneers

How much ang cost? is it true na nakakaitim daw ito ng gums?

  4. #64
^Hello. No, your gums are not supposed to darken with porcelain veneers.

  5. #65
hi all! meron bang gumagawa ng ganito dito sa cebu? recommendations/referrals please. thanks!

ang porcelain veneers ba pwede kahit 1 ipen lang?

  8. #68
^Yes. Veneers are placed on top of an existing tooth.

  9. #69
Doc ano po effect ng porcelain veneers sa ipen kapag nailagay na? tsaka how long it has to wear?katulad din ba ito ng jacket? may nakita ako 1tooth lang ginawa sa kanya parang totoong ipen.

^If well made and if you take good care of it, a porcelain veneer can last 5 to 10 years.

I haven't seen actual cases of Lumineers, but I am surmising that the application of these type of veneers also has its limitations. Since there is no reduction of tooth structure, teeth which are already positioned anteriorly in the mouth will look more bulky or overcontoured. Take a look at some of the "after" pictures in their website: lumineers.com

Cutedoc: There are already clinics in which the actual brand Lumineers are available?
I actually offer Lumineers in our office, along with Cercon, Lava, and MACveneers here in the Phil. As to esthetics, Lumineers is not for every case because of their philosophy of liittle to no reduction. The finished product looks bulky if done for a regular veneer case. Also, it is twice as expensive, since I send the case to a US lab to do them for me. You're better off with standard E-max or Empress Esthetic veneers. Oh fyi, yes, many dentists can do veneers here in the Phil., and patients fly in from all over the world to the Phil. to have smile makeovers. If you're curious about how it would look, you can check out the thread on general dentistry, jbs feb. 27, 2007 I think. Someone pasted a picture of a case I did(patient is from New Jersey).

Doc paano po ba malalaman kung porcelain veneers ang crown na ilalagay sa ngipen, kasi sabi ng surgeon ko ititrim daw muna tapos babalutin ng bakal at dun pa lang ilalagay ang veneers, e how would i know na porcelain venners ang ikakabit nya?kasi nadala na ako dati ng umuwi sa pinas sabi sakin ng dentist flexsight daw na porcelain para hindi masakit, pero hindi ko na nagamit kasi sobrang tigas ng nag consult ako sa ibang dentitst hindi daw porcelain ang flexsight ko, help me naman to find out kung talagang porcelain veneers ang ilalagay sakin.thank you...

  13. #73
^Hmm, if I were in your shoes, I'd look for a dentist who's a member of the Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (PAED).

PAED's a distinguished group of dentist who're committed in improving their cosmetic dentistry skills.

You can also look for dentists who are members of the Philippine Prosthodontic Society.

Your questions are kind of confusing. I want to understand you, but please do read through all two pages of this thread, so that you can be briefed on the difference beween a VENEER and a CROWN.

Also, I think the "flexsight" you mentioned is actually "Flexite"...which is a brand name of a flexible denture type which is removable type of denture.

Crowns and veneers are both FIXED type of dentures. Flexite flexible dentures are REMOVABLE.

We can help each other if we get our terminologies straight. It would help us also if you can read the thread (2 pages lang naman) so di na paulit-ulit. So, shall we start again?

I made some backread on this forum and noticed that Dr. Yap-Cham's name was often mentioned as one of the recommended specialists for this line of work (veneers, bridges, crowns) Was just wondering if any of you guys have actually seen his work? Does he charge reasonably? Any other referrals would also be appreciated. Thanks

^ "Unlike most cosmetic dentists" ?

I've said this before and I'll say it again, most dentists in the Philippines undercharge. This isn't even an exaggeration, as it's the truth.

^Sorry 'bout that. I probably got the wrong impression on some cosmetic dentists that I've watched or heard on the radio (Belo, Calayan affiliated ones) who charge like hundreds of thousands. Anyway regarding my query...
