    Hi!

    Glutathione and teratogenicity

    Hi gracepinas!

Glutathione is an antioxidant that helps boost our immune system. It has no teratogenic effects. You can look it up on the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2006, "Glutathione depletion leads to 4-Hydroxnonenal protein adducts and Hydroxyurea teratogen in organogenesis stage mouse embryo". ag kulang ito, teratogenic effects occur. However, these are done in exerimental models only, it is still recommended that a pregnant woman refrain from taking medications other than those required of her.

    Hi Skin Doc!

Why do dermatologists prescribe creams ,lotions, soaps etc. that are only available in their clinics ? Most of these don't even have labels that indicate the contents or formulation. In addition, they are very expensive. Isn't this practice unethical ?
I know that most derma think that once a patient go to their clinic esp. to treat pimples, the patient is just being vain (since the acne can't kill anyway) and the patient must have money. But not all patients who seek treatment for pimples are rich. They simply just want to get treatment because it bothers them as it affects their self esteem. I know that you just want to earn for a living, but I hope that the prices of these generic creams ,lotions etc. will be a little affordable. And could you tell your manufacturer to label it properly?... not just simple labels as "acne lotion". I think patients have a right to know what they will be putting in their skin.

I don't know why BFAD isn't concern about this insufficient or lack of proper labelling .

I don't mean to offend you and the other dermas , as I too regularly go to derma clinics . But I suggest that there will be some code of ethics observed . Just my POV

    ^Pimples are infections.

Pimple infections which occur in the dangerous triangle of the face (Pimples on the nose and certain portion of the lips) can potentially reach the brain.

Once the infection reaches the brain and is left uncontrolled (you can google Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis if you'd like to read more on this), you can die.

    A pimple CAN kill you.

The dangerous triangle is visualized by imagining a triangle with the top point about at the bridge of the nose and the two lower points on either corner of the mouth. If your mother ever told you not to pick a pimple on your face or else you would get a brain infection, this is what it would look like if it actually happened.

    thanks for replying skin doc.
doc paki clarify naman po yung "scars are permanent"... microdermabrasion or diamond peel is not the best solution sa acne scars po? forever na yung scar pala sa face. mag-iimprove lang yung face pero yung mga scars visible pa rin?ganun po ba?

    Hi totnak_ever!

Scars are permanent, hindi na ito mawawala. Like i said, there are ways to improve its appearance so that it won't be that noticeable. There are dermal fillers to fill in the gaps, para hindi na masyado nakalubog; microdermabrasion, to smoothen it out, para medyo bumabaw; chemical peel, to improve the color, para hindi na masyadong dark, etc. But it's still there. You might be pertaining to pigmentation, these are marks or pekas that are left behind after an allergy, irritation. These can fade on its own or with chemical peel, microdermabrasion, whitening products, etc., can go away without any sign that it was there before.

    Hi!

Yes, you just have to take the medications for at least three months for it to take effect.

    Hi!

It's glutathione that is injected into your veins to get faster results. Usually done twice a week for 3 weeks then once a week for 4 weeks. Yes, i think so.

hi po, ask ko lang po is about using birth control pills as acne control, i'm using gracial, mga 3-4 years na po akong gumagamit, and napansin kong hindi na nga me madaling magkapimple di tulad dati, parang mas naging less acre prone na skin ko. i'm afraid lang kasi pano po pag tumigil me sa pagtake ng gracial, para kasing may nabasa me na lalo raw magiging oily ang skin, ang yung pimples mas rarami compare dun sa di pa ko nagtatake, kaya natatakot me istop kasi baka tadtadrin naman me ng pimples, pero eventually, kailangan ko rin istop yun,( e.g. pag siyempre i decided to have a baby) ask ko lang po if totoo yung nabasa ko na mas dadami pimples at mas magigig oily skin ko after i stop taking the pills? i asked my o.b. dati tungkol dun, and sabi niya, hindi naman daw, kasi by that time daw, regulated na raw hormones ko, pero di talaga me mapakali, please, sana po masagot niyo tanong ko. please...
