hey doc.

are these over-the-counter pregnancy tests the best way of determining if youre on the way or not?

a friend has missed her period for two months now. according to her she already took three tests, the first one a week after she missed her period, and all three showed negative.

what are the chances that all three tests were wrong?

Short of an uterine ultrasound, the home pregnancy tests are extremely accurate in diagnosing a pregnancy if the directions are followed, more so if she's done it several times already. Chances are nil that the tests are wrong. Have her see an ob-gyne. She has a different problem.

Is it true that taking too much aspirins e.g. medicol, biogesic, ponstan 250 etc.. could lead to miscarriage? I heard some rumors about it.

Medicol is acetaminophen, Biogesic is Paracetamol, and Ponstan is Mefenamic acid. None of them is aspirin. Aspirin can cause hemorrhaging, but it will take a lot of aspirins, and the concomittant risk of bleeding in other body parts (gastrointestinal tract, brain, etc.) is also increased.

Doc, is it possible na ma-preggy agad ang girl just incase na alam nya na 5 days before eh daratnan na sya and they do the withdrawal naman, pero mga 4 days after they copulate eh nag-discharge sya ng brown fluids na akala nya mens na nya pero konti lang yung lumabas then kinabukasan ganon ulit then in the afternoon wala nang lumabas.... pero after a couple of days hindi pa rin sya nagkakaron, what do you think it is? would you see any vital signs of pregnancy agad ba?

While the risk of pregnancy is minimized due to the time of cycle and the withdrawal method, the risk of pregnancy is still there, however slight.

Bleeding is not a sign of pregnancy. It may be midcycle bleeding. Common causes may include hormonal fluctuations, oral contraceptives, medications like coumadin, stress and vaginal injury.

honey, hindi "mababa" ang chance na mabuntis girlfriend mo even when she has her period. the egg may still be inside her at any moment during her period and it can still be fertilized.

hi mga doks, ask ko lang, kasi diba 2 mos. na akong delayed, my last ckeckup was last jan. 26, next checkup ko is sa march 27 pa, pinagrereduce nga ako ng doctor ko, kaso yung manghihilot dito sa amin, napadaan kanina, so nabanggit nga sa kanya ng mom ko yung condition ko, and nung hinawakan niya yung pusod ko with her finger, sabi niya "naku iha, pregnant ka kasi may tumitibok", and ako mismo, i tried holding the area, and talagang may tumitibok....meron bang scientific basis to? kasi sabi niya, marami daw siyang napulsuhan nga doon sa may pusod, and sinabihan daw yun ng mga doks na hindi sila preggy, pero it turned out that they are, so mga doks..should i believe her?? or may pulso lang talaga yung pusod?? naguguluhan ako..im going to take pregnancy test ulit if ever....thanks

No scientific basis. Even if you were pregnant, the fetus would be smaller than a peanut at this point, and you wouldn't feel its heartbeat. The heartbeat you felt is your own. The only way to diagnose pregnancy is thru a pregnancy test. Just buy one at the drug store and check.

What are the earliest signs of pregnancy?

It varies from person to person. Some have the stereotypical nausea and vomiting, some don't. Some have headaches, dizziness, etc. Again, some don't. Of course, there is the more obvious delay in menses, but this could be due to other causes. The problem with these signs is that they are really very nonspecific, meaning it could also be part of another problem, not necessarily pregnancy. The best way to know is to have a pregnancy test done.

Earliest signs of pregnancy-amenorrhea (cessation of menses), morning sickness (nausea and vomiting)--although these are nonspecific symptoms.

There are presumptive signs, probable signs, and positive signs of pregnancy.

We took this up in our OB class.

My friend has a problem. She had sex with her BF right after her period and she let her BF ejaculate inside her for about 3-4 times for 2-3 days. I think it's on the 3-5th day after her period. Is there a chance of her getting preggie or is it a long shot? Thanks!

It's still a possibility, though at this time of her period, less chance than normal.
