Well, with regards to mp3s, i only save the ones that i know i'm going to hate after a number of days...like say BSB, nsync or britney spears..or when i want to hear the newest single from my favorite bands..pero as soon as i get the CD, i throw the mp3s away. I think 'real' CDs are investments...u may never know how much your original 'nevermind' CD would cost in 50 years, di ba? as for pirated CDs, i usually buy the compilation of 'uso' songs type deal...para mas mura..and if i like one particular artist, then i'll buy the orig CD. Some of the bands/artists i like, wala namang pirated CD nila e..so pilit din naman akong bumili ng real ones...
yah, i still buy the original CDs.. I agree with Trinity.. Cds are indeed investments... even though DVD is getting really popular, the DVD machines are all downward compatibles so, they'll be able to play the CD..
and my real petpeeve is.. ppl who make MP3s.. they don't record it good!! It still doesn't end up giving me the satisfaction of listenin to the actual CD..
Also, I usually only get to listen to CDs whenever I'm in my car.. and burned CDS don't work as well with the current cd changer technology..![]()
i'm not particularly fond of mp3s since i hate downloading HUGE files. i got some off people from IRC though.. only those songs that i'd really like to listen to but havent gotten around to looking for their albums yet. i admit i buy pirated CDs BUT only of compilations. like tr|n|ty, i get the orig CDs when it comes to artists' albums.
no, i think i buy more.
but not lately. wala akong pera eh.
i dont buy MP3s coz like what they said it takes a damn long time to download, ang pangit pa pag pinapakinggan na sa pc.
i buy pirated CDs na compilations na. bihira akong bumili ng pirated albums.
as much as possible i buy the real thing pero lets face it, lalo na sa mga students, mahal din kahit papano ang mga CDs eh. tapos with pirated CDs you save like at least PhP300 kaya sometimes yun na talaga ang nabibili.
uh no...in fact i buy more CDs...i just let my friend get the MP3s, then i give him a list to record in a CD![]()
hmmm, looks like ako lang mpfreak rito
everyone jump me! i have gigs of the stuff![]()
hmmm yes mas maganda ang original cd, la lang.....
mp3- depends the quality of the recorded music...
pirated- madaling masira, nag ju jumping jumping siya!
no. i still prefer buying original cd's over those bootleg copies. but that doesn't mean that i don't own pirated cd's.
iba pa rin yung original albums. usually, may lyrics and other trivial things na kasama sa jackets ng orig. i only buy pirated cd's if it contains songs that are not usually found in the "legal & original" albums. "hard-to-find", 'ika nga... like unplugged or live versions of my favorite songs and artists. basta yung hindi ko nakikita sa shops or nadidinig sa radio. ganun din yung mp3's dito sa pc ko... yun lang mga ala sa record shops ang hinahanap ko. kung meron namang mabibiling original album, ba't ka pa bibili ng hindi orig?
and speaking of cd's... ang tagal ng release ng bagong u2 album.
those that i want don't have pirated copies.
but still, i love the original.
ngayon mp3
ang mahal ng CD
at saka may fm radio naman
like nu107, 103.5k-lite, 99.5rt
i'll buy a pirate cd if it's rare
or the artist is bloody rich
I dont buy pirated CDs (except videokes and MP3s) kasi almost all the artists/bands I like eh hindi mainstream, so original pa rin. Assuming there are pirated CDs I like, I will still buy the original because in pirated CDs, you dont get quality packaging and maybe audio quality is not good also. But if it is a bootleg copy (rare, live, no official copy, etc), I'll buy it because for me, its a collector item. CD Warehouse is selling bootlegs but the price is high (700 and up).
With regards to MP3s, I download a lot especially the live and rare ones. Or if I dont have a copy yet. As soon as I get/bought the CD, I throw the MP3s away and ripped it by myself (to have my PC a copy too, got a huge harddisk space in my office).
Basta, originals pa rin and Im a CD addict. I already have 150 plus CDs and all of them are originals and most of them are imported.
One more, LPs are more cool than CDs. I have 20 plus LPs but havent bought lately coz my turntable is broken. Any ideas where to buy a second hand turntables?
I don't listen to the radio anymore since deejay's talk too much and there are tons of commercials. So that leaves me with legit CDs, pirated CDs, and MP3s.
Since I spend a lot of time in front of my PC, I listen to MP3s often. I don't download them -- heck, I have no patience to wait that long -- so my brother downloads them for me. I just tell him what songs I want and he gets them for me [thru FTP before and just recently, thru Napster.] What I don't like about MP3s is that they "jump" when I run too many apps. I don't have a lot of memory so sometimes the song chokes. On the other hand, I like MP3's because they're free and because I'm not forced to buy an entire album when I only want song from the artist.
Since I can't listen to MP3s if I'm not using my PC, I'm planning to get a CD writer soon so I can write some of the MP3s I love. I like the idea of being able to choose what songs I want to put together in one CD.
I buy original CDs when I like most of the songs in them or when I like the artist enough. With regard to pirated CDs, I usually buy the compilations and not the albums.
I like music but quality isn't much of an issue with me. Whether I hear it from a pirated or original CD doesn't matter. If I'm able to save P300 for a CD of, let's say, Madonna, then great. I'm not a fan and I don't plan to keep the CD forever. Let's just say I like her at the moment because of one of her songs. I will not part with P450 to get an original CD of an artist I can get sick of next week. That money I will reserve for artists I really like and will most probably like til the day I die.![]()
Nope, my buying of CDs isn't affected by these two. First of all, the MP3s that I download are those songs that I really want but for some reason, can't get a copy of. Either it's hard to find the CD (but once I do find the CD I buy it.), or the CD that contains the song/s that I like is a lousy one. In that case, I really won't buy the CD, just for that one song.
There are albums that are worth buying so even if they cost a lot, I still buy the original. Some albums I wouldn't really buy if it were upto me, but since there are pirated copies, I just buy them so I can listen to them. I can even say that thanks to these pirated CDs, there is awareness on my part - songs, lyrics, etc.
In my case I don't think piracy is affecting the legit industry.
nope. i only buy original CDs and MDs. pirated ones aren't good listening material and i don't have enough patience for MP3s.

I don't download pirated MP3's, not enough bandwidth to the house... I just rip my CD's and those I borrow from friends...
I do download indie stuff like MP3Manila stuff, for instance.
I have tried downloading a few MP3's before during its height of use, but nothing beats the quality of sound and music you get when you listen to original CDs over a good hi-fi system as opposed to listening to MP3s over computer speakers (no matter how high-tech and expensive). I have also bought bootleg CDs to send my best friend who lives abroad and I've listened to them, but they really suck--the covers are ugly, some songs start and end abruptly, some songs just begin at the middle--overall, its quality is totally wanting. So I still patronize legit CDs as much as ever, and I don't own a single copy of bootleg audio CDs. As for MP3 compilations on CDs, I already gave them to my sister so that she has something to listen to at work.![]()
Pirated = cheap, unauthorized copies of commercial recordings.
Bootleg = non-commercial recordings, like live concerts or unreleased stuff.
Get the difference?
I have some bootleg CD's, and they are expensive - for fans only![]()
