thanks sir matulis, actually ngayon pa lang kasi babasahin ng doctor ko yun result ng ultrasound. I have 2 polyps measuring 3.4mm and 4.3mm. Aside from surgery, di po ba malulusaw ito sa gamot? Nakalagay din sa result ko na may non-specific wall thickening yung gallbladder ko. Ano po ba ibig sabihin nito?

Thickening of the gallbladder wall ususally means that there has been previous inflammation.

There is basically no diet restriction after a gallbladder surgery. You may also eat fat but not in a big portion.

To some extent, apple juice, cranberry juice and foods that lower cholesterol levels help. There are gallstones that are composed of cholesterol deposits. This is common in the US. However for some reason yet unknown, Asians (including Filipinos) have pigment stones rather than cholesterol stones. Our diet may have something to do woth it.

Your complaint (sinisikmura) may be due to some other condition such as Acid Peptic Disease and not gallstones. The treatment for the former is different than gallbladder stones.

Hi po I'm JP, 21 years old. Meron po akong Cholelithiasis, 0.9cm siya. Pag sinusumpong ako talagang sobrang sakit ng tiyan ko pati gilid tapos sumusuka ako. Tanong ko lang po pag may gallstone po ba talagang parang busog ka palagi? Saka hindi pa ako nagpapa-schedule ng operation kasi wala akong philhealth at sabi ng doktor aabot ng 10k more or less. Saka ang payat ko, weight ko 53kgs. pero matangkad ako 5'10, dahil po kaya may gallstone ako kaya ang payat ko? Pa send naman po ako ng message sa may mga suggestions sa akin. Thank you.

@matulis doc sa kaso ko pong ganito kailangan po bang operahan ako? malakas naman po ako kaya nga lang po payat po ako yun nga lang pag sumakit siya parang mamamatay ako sa sobrang sakit.Minsan po pag sumakit siya hanggang dibdib, kaya nung bumalik ako neresetahan ako ng Omeprazole 40mg for 2 weeks siguro na heartburn ako or sa sobrang acid po and Celecoxib 200mg for pain. Nagpalaboratory na rin po ako b1b2, SGOT, SGPT and Alkaline Phosphatase and lahat naman po normal.Ano po suggestion po ninyo?Thank You.

Some patients with gallbladder stones do not exhibit symptoms. The problem is that sometimes the symptoms for gallstone disease overlap with symptoms of acid peptic disease and even gastro esophageal reflux disease. Did you have endoscopy done already?

I would appreciate some details in your gallbladder ultrasound findings. Please look on the findings regarding gall bladder wall thickness, size of common duct and size of stone (lithiases or high intensity echo with posterior sonic shadowing).

Doc this is my Upper Abdominal Sonography:

Gallbladder is undistended but contains a 0.9 cm. strong shadowing echo.Biliary ducts are not dilated. Liver,Pancreas, and Spleen are normal in size and echotexture. Great vessels are normal in caliber. Para-aortic and primary Retroperitoneal areas are clear. Gastro-intestinal pattern is unremarkable. Anterior abdominal wall is intact.

@matulis doc my urinary tract and prostatic sonography is all normal in size and echotexture. the calices, pelves and ureters are not dilated. Urinary bladder is physiologically distended with normal anechoic lumen. Prostate is normal in size. remainder is unremarkable.

Impression:
Gallstone, solitary.
Negative in KUB and prostatic sonography.

It is a possibility that you have reflux disease and that your gallbladder stones are aymptomatic. Please consult your doctor. Ask him about endoscopy and esophageal manommetry.

Tingin ko rin po Doc asymptomatic gallstone ko, kaya minsan pag sumasakit dibdib ko napagkakamalan kong baka sa gallstone.One more thing Doc, diba surgeon po kayo recommended ba sa akin na ipa-tanggal o mag-under operation po ako eventhough asymptomatic siya. I really don't know what to do po kasi nga po hindi naman siya sumasakit bihirang-bihira lang at saka nagdadalawang-isip din po ako kasi kung ma-operahan ako baka sakaling tumaba po ako.

You have a valid complaint that has to be addressed. The problem is that the symptoms you exhibit may be possible for more than one disease entity. Based on the clinical data which you have narrated, you most probably have GERD. If your symptoms fail to resolve despite workup and treatment of your gastric condition, then you might just consider the gallstones to be the culprit.

The risk for Asymptomatic gallstones to complicate is 1-2% which is cummulative per year. In 10 years, the risk for developing complication is 10-20%, and the risk becomes higher as the duration gets longer. Clearly, there is no emergent need to have surgery done. However, you should be conscious that the present data can just estimate the risk for possible complications. It is in your best judgement to consider having surgery on an elective basis, when there is no co-morbid problems or when you are psychologically prepared.

The risk for death to happen in surgery for gallstone is just 0.1-0.5%.
