    Hello!

These are the following procedures na pwedeng gawin ng doctor mo to reduce your big nose:

    a. lower lateral cartilage trimming
    b. bulbous defatting
    c. overhang correction
    d. bunching- to narrow the width of your nose
    e. alar plasty- to reduce the circumference of your nostrils, this also narrow the width of your nose.
    f. osteotomy- fracturing the sides of your nasal bone para mag-narrow yung bridge.

these procedures are done only as if needed.
I can recommend you to a doctor that i know. Just send me a private message if you are interested.

    Hello registrar,

As Dr. H (or yssamer_lyn) has given very legitimate suggestions on what could be done, kinakailangan pa rin ay matingnan ka muna ng doktor (cosmetic surgeon) bago talagang masabi kung ano ang dapat gawin.

Rhinoplasty and Allergies - PLEASE HELP ME!

I was reading the messages that our wonderful doctors have been posting here and I want to thank you for your input! I've learned a lot by reading your comments (especially the pros and cons of silicon vs. goretex) than any website I've looked at.

I am scheduled to have the nose reshaping package (tip plasty, alar trimming, and bridge augmentation) procedure in two weeks in Manila with silicon but now I'm really worried! I live in an area where I get a lot of alleries (frequent sneezing and watery eyes) from dust and just regular seasonal allergies. Do I REALLY need to get goretex implant? I can't afford that upgrade kasi eh.

My question is: Will I be okay to still use silicon implant even when I get my seasonal allergies or will the implant shift and not be nice looking because of my frequent sneezing?

silicone implant has been used for decades and is the standard. if done right, it should not interfere with your seasonal allergies. If done right, your implant should not shift even if you sneeze. Make sure that the implant that will be used is the soft type so there wouldnt be any problem even with manipulation. a goretex would be a plus but silicone implant would be fine as well.

    Thanks skin doc!

Thanks skin doc for your quick response! Now the only thing that still makes me nervous is the actual procedure! Can't wait to see the results in two weeks!

    Hi!
If your really intend to have your nose job I suggest that you have your allergic rhinitis check first. If your allergy is just the intermittent and mild typeonly silicon implant will not be a problem. But if that's the persistent and moderate to severe type I really suggest that you should have Goretex implant. In anyways, treat your allergic rhinitis first before having your nose job. FYI lang po.

    Hi!
The main treatment for allergy(either skin, nose or lungs) is avoidance to what ever causes your allergy. In the Philippines, the number one cause of allergic rhinitis is the house dust mite, specifically sa pooh ng mites. This is usually found in our beddings, pillows, carpets, and stuff toys. Literally, you get them when you sleep, that's why you sneeze when you wake up in the morning.
To determine whether you will need a Goretex or just the simple silicon, check your nose kung may line demarking at the junction of soft part and hard part ng nasal bridge mo. This is caused by Allergic Salute, which is the frequent upward manipulation up your nose due to allergic rhinitis. Although wala ka nito pero araw-araw ka may allergy, better pa rin ang Goretex vs Silicon. I'm not saying na ito lang ang options mo.Your surgeon can also use Ear cartilage as implant as well as the nasal septal cartilage (the middle part of our nose that divides the left nostril from right). Rib cartilage and dermal fat can also be use. Personally, i will not recommend Silicon implant for those with persistent allergic rhinitis. I can recommend other implant, dami naman option. Mahirap nga lang kung Silicon lang ang alam gamitin ng surgeon mo. So always ask for second opinion. Buti ba lang may PEX.

    Hello Registrar,

Treatment of allergic rhinitis is just like treating any allergy. Of course, if you can avoid the allergen, that would be best. However, sometimes we could not avoid it because its in the environment we work in, etc. However, you can lessen the amount of exposure by modifying your environment. You may consider the following:
    1. using plastic mattress covers
    2. use hypoallergenic pillows
    3. change beddings, curtains, etc. every week
    4. consider buying an air purifier in your room - a little expensive but may just do the trick. You may have been spending a lot on medicines anyway.

With regards to which nasal implant to use in your planned rhinoplasty, I should say that ALL implants mentioned are legitimate options. We already know that goretex is a very good option, except for the price (big difference, by the way). Silicone implant is still a good option, even with people with AR. It has been used for decades with great success. The soft type of silicone implants would be a better option though. Some surgeons (especially new ones with limited experience with silicone implants) do not use this because they have a hard time carving it. They normally use the regular (hard) type of silicone implant because it is easier to carve. The technique of carving according to the needs of the patient is also very important, and thus, the choice of surgeon is of equal importance as to the choice of implant .

And so, like what has been said, you have to choose a surgeon that has experience and knowledge not only on goretex but with the different kinds of silicone implants as well. The surgeon will recommend what he thinks is best (some would actually recommend the procedure they are used to), but eventually it will be you who is going to make that choice. The best way to make a choice of course, is if it is an informed choice.

    to registrar,

Correct si Dr J. It's you who will make a choice after you were properly informed. If you still choose silicon, ask your surgeon for a TWO-TONED silicon. The tip part is softer than the bridge part.

Additional info lang. Avoid the silicone na medyo translucent. Some would notice that their nose are also translucent (or parang see-thru) when the sun shines on it. Better kung opaque.

Hehehe. Siguro litong-lito ka na registrar kung anong gagawin mo ano? Anyway, just choose the right surgeon and everything will follow.

Questions for the doctors here, what can you say about breast augmentation here in the Philippines. There is a new beauty hub in Makati that claims to offer the best surgery available. Does it really cost P175k for the surgery?

We are actually quite off the topic here, but with smilewarrior's indulgence i will answer it briefly.

There are actually several cosmetic surgery clinics in Makati. Here are some of my comments on that.

"the best surgery available" - Im sorry but that is crap. They can only CLAIM but being the best is difficult to prove. Who says they are the best? Is there a governing body that says they are? That is why the Belo group only wants to be the FIRST (as said by Vicki Belo herself) because she cannot prove that she is the best. Quite logical if you think about it.

"Does it really cost P175k for the surgery?" - Breast augmentation is very popular here in our country. With the technique and the types of implants used, I believe we are up to date. The package can cost from 80k to 200k in the Philippines depending on WHO is doing it, WHERE they are doing it and of course the TYPE OF IMPLANT that they will use. On the average, its about 120K. Lower than 100k, be weary. Higher than 160k, still possible but get another opinion from another equally qqualified doctor.

so here's my story, I'm planning to having my nose done my bridge is fine but my nose is a bit wider than i'd like and the tip is a bit rounder than what I would consider nice... anyway my concern is this... i'm a smoker, i've been smoking for 6 years now (im 22 years old)
how will this affect my surgery?
Will I encounter any possible complications because I smoke?
How long after the surgery will I not be able to smoke?
Am I allowed to chew nicorette gum or will that complicate things as well?

I've also noticed a couple posts on here about price and I don't really see anything that has a concrete answer... I understand, and I will, be shopping around for qualified surgeons (two names that seem to stand out here is Dr. Ira and Dr. Joaquino) but in a case like mine where I would not be looking to get an implant, what price range am I looking at?

    thanks guys!

  21. #79
and also are there any doctors here that do digital image enhancements to show you what to expect your nose would look like post-surgery?

  22. #80
^ For inquiries on price, DoctorJ is a good person to ask.

Please wait for the reply of the physicians.
