Prevnar is a brand name of IPD vaccine. I'm not familiar with it too since my baby didn't have it. We go to a pedia in Healthway Market!Market! at ok naman pagpresyo nya ng vaccine, we're having the Pneumoccocal vaccine at 1400 pesos.

Dimples, OMG, the vaccines are super mega over-priced! tsk tsk... San po area nyo?
here's more info about Prevenar.

Rotarix naman is an oral vaccine against diarrhea caused by the rotavirus. Common ang rotaviral infections sa mga mahihirap na bansa gaya natin, pero kung sure kayong malinis naman ang source ng water that you give your babies, parang hindi naman msyado ito kailangan. IMHO lang po.
In the end, it is your call whether you get the vaccines that are not in the Required Immunization list. The best is to research and be informed.

hi cutiecute12,
ang mura ng vaccine sa pedia mo? san ang clinic nya?
hello po!
since i'm just a new mom of an almost a month old baby girl, i really need info on the immunizations she has to get. so far, she's gotten hepaB#1 at birth and bcg just recently. our pedia will give her the first of the three 6-in-1's next month, at php3800 each. do u have a list that can guide me on the other vaccines she needs per month, pati po sana *** estimated price for each just so i have an idea kung overpricing si pedia or what. sabi rin pala ni pedia meron na daw shots for diarrhea and pagsusuka? thanks a lot po!
share niyo naman yung name ng pedia(sched, san hospital) niyo na mura sumingil ng vaccines?
thanks...
yung pedia ko sa 3500 6 in 1 di pa kasama yung check up kasi libre naman kasi sa valu care
my 6 month old baby had the following shots (price in parenthesis):
BCG - 2 weeks (P900)
HepaB#1 - 2 months (P900)
Pentaxim#1 (DPT/IPV/HiB) - 3 months (P2500)
HepaB#2 - 4months (P1000)
Pentaxim#2 (DPT/IPV/HiB) - 5months (P2500)
Her next vaccine is scheduled sa November, 6-in-1 (DPT/IPV/HiB + HepB#3) which is going to cost P3500
Ang maganda dun sa mga 5-in-1, isang tusok lang. Yung IPV is polio, intravenous kase, not oral. Sabi ng pedia namen meron cheaper version yung 6-in-1. P2500 lang pero yung polio will be given orally. Yun daw yung version ng binibigay sa mga centers ata. Kaya lang sabi ni doctora mas may tendency maglagnat yung baby kase iba yun from what the expensive ones. Although di naman din 100% sure na di lalagnatin si baby dun sa expensive ones, mas maliit ang chance na magkaron. So I opted for the ones she recommended nalang.
Mga moms! price ng vaccines varies, depende san Hospital/Clinic etc. sa Hospitals overpricing talaga sila., try nyo sa mga clinic like healthway/Medical City Satellite Clinics etc. malaki ang difference., like the Booster Pentaxim sa Hospital P3000 sa clinic P2500 lang., pero kung hiyang na kayo dun sa pedia nyo at you can afford **** hwag ng magpalit ng pedia![]()
These are the shots my son got when he was 15 days old
BCG - 475.00
HepaB1 - 400.00
Just to correct any misconceptions out there... the BCG vaccine is not for the prevention of TB (pulmonary or in children, it's called primary complex). It is given in order to prevent the more severe forms of TB (TB meningitis, TB of the bone, etc) since TB can infect practically every part of the body. It is true that TB is still prevalent here in the Philippines and a lot of people are dying from it everyday so BCG is still needed. But bear in mind that TB can recur. It does not mean that if you had primary complex as a child that you would not have it again as an adult. And also, a child with primary complex is not infectious since children cannot cough out sputum anyways. So if your child has primary complex, you should have the adults in the house tested, because she probably got it from one of the adults.
Hope this helps somehow!
Thank you for the clarification. Most of the time kasi pag pinapag-usapan ang vaccines, we (or at least I) think it's for the prevention and not amelioration.
So are there other vaccines out there (besides the BCG) in the schedule that is not designed to prevent the disease but rather have the disease present itself in a milder form?
Though it is not yet proven, there are numerous articles about the possibility of vaccines causing autism...particularly the MMR (mumps, measles and rubella) vaccine and the Thimerosal ingredient found in several vaccines.
If this is true, it is alarming. And I do wonder how necessary vaccines are especially if there are negative effects like this. And with all the vaccines coming out which we never had...hmmm.
^actually i've raised that very same point to my kid's pedia at the time when my daughter was still following a vaccination schedule and i think it's really up to us parents to outweigh the pros and cons of giving and not giving vaccines to very young children. there maybe articles relating mmr vaccines to autism but for me, i guess it's not worth the risk sparing the kid from developing autism yet being vulnerable on the other hand to a much wider range of life-threatening diseases.
^^the most frustrating thing is you can never get a definite answer when it comes to these questions about vaccines. horror stories abound whether coming from the pro or anti-vax groups.
in our case, we follow a selective and delayed schedule.
I read an article din about MMR causing autism. Medyo naalarma ako. When my daughter turned 3 dun lang sya nabigyan ng MMR vaccine. And like sneezy delayed din ang mga shots ng daughter ko after she turned 1. i asked questions muna sa mga mommies na kilala ko regarding different vaccines na kelangang ibigay.![]()
di ba mas nagko-cause ng autism yung mga in 1's??? in-offer sa akin ng pedia ko yung 5-in-1 (DPT, and i forgot the other 2) but we opted to have it individually na lang. yun din kasi ang sabi ng sister-in-law ko na nurse. mas parusa sa baby pero mas safe naman. ang mabuti lang ke baby ice, di sya nilalagnat after each vaccination. he had Hepa B 1 & 2 na tsaka BCG. isusunod namin yung anti-measles.
I was thinking of getting delayed shots or simply letting my son get certain childhood illnesses like chicken pox, measles and mumps kasi me and his dad got them anyway when we were kids. My pedia already gave Yuri his hepa-b shots but we're definitely going to get him immunized against polio and tetanus.
My husband who has a biomedical engineering background said that autism has already reached a 400% increase in the last 20 or so years and there are more and more links to the vaccines as well as diet with regards to being unable to handle glutein and dairy products.
anyone of you na pina-vaccine ang baby nila with Prevanar?
hindi sya routine vaccine, it will just be given to those who want it for their babies.
Yung pedia kasi ng baby ko suggested na pa-vaccine ko sya nun kasi mahina yung lungs nya. its for streptoccocus bacteria which is the usual cause of pneumonia.
I'm just having a second thought because of the price. Per shot is worth 4.5K and for my son's age requires two shots.. so 9K all in all.. namamahalan ako e. so i'm asking baka meron sa inyo na nakapag-pavaccine na, baka mas mura? baka kasi tinataga lang ako nun pediaAnyone?
Janea will be taking it as well.. 4500 din Joie.. Yung iba nga 5k yun. 2 shots din.
Anyway naalarm naman ako sa MMR shot na can cause autism.. teka anong age ba dapat tinuturok ang MMR? kasi yung baby ko kakakuha niya last month![]()
