If this is just a recent occurence, i.e., due to the extreme heat we're experiencing right now, I suggest you just use a towel for a while. However, if this is persistent even in cold weather, there are several medications which are initially used to treat this. You can initially try to control it by using a topically applied solution, Driclor. You apply this 2x a week at night to completely dry skin and wrap the area with Glad wrap or any cling film, and wash the stuff off in the morning. If there is skin irritation, just apply and don't wrap the area anymore. You do this until sweating lessens, whereupon you decrease its application to just once a week or even less. You can buy Driclor in local drugstores. If this doesn't lessen the sweating, oral medications can be tried, e.g., valium, anticholinergic agents like cogentin, propantheline, etc.; indomethacin, and calcium channel blockers. However, these oral medications have a lot of side effects, so I cannot in good conscience tell you to take them without you being seen and examined by a physician first. If your sweating cannot be controlled thru medications, there are several options available, like Botox injections, iontophoresis (though I don't think this is available in our country yet), and, in extreme cases, surgical symphathectomy for excessive palmar sweating.

You can also try Driclor--apply it once daily at night until sweating lessens, although you don't need to wrap your palms in cling film, then lessen it to about twice a week once sweating decreases.

Sorry, I do not email PExers.

surgical symphathectomy for excessive palmar sweating.
yun pala yun tawag sa operation na yon... i had a chem teacher once na parang gripo yung kamay, habang naglelecture siya eh tumultulo pa yung sweaty palms niya sa sahig, pero yun lang ata sweaty sa kanya. she underwent surgery and yun, tapos ang problema niya.

Driclor can also be used for this. Apply it once daily till sweating decreases, after which you apply it every other day, alternating with another antiperspirant.

Unlike regular deodorants, you only apply it just once daily, not as often as you want. It's easily available in major drugstores. I think it's less than P500, but I'm not 100% certain.

You don't use the cling-wrap/Glad wrap on your underarms. That is for someone else. Use it as you would a deodorant.

Doc Ira, bat ganun sobrang kati at hapdi ng DRICLOR, i've been using it once a day for the past 3 days, but in fairness, magaling siya! dry talaga... un nga lang mahapdi halos manghina ang buong katawan ko sa hapdi. irritated and reddish na *** underarms ko.

Normal lang ba un? or temporary lang?

    What shall I do?
