Hyperhydrosis, which is the high-tech name for excessive sweating, is linked to overactivity in the sympathetic nervous system, which controls the apocrine and eccrine glands responsible for perspiration throughout the entire body. Depending on which part of the chain becomes overactive, different parts of the body become affected.
Sometimes people will sweat excessively because of other illnesses such as hyperthyroidism, psychiatric disorders, menopause and obesity. These causes must first be ruled out before Primary Hyperhidrosis can be diagnosed.
You can stop this problem permanently by undergoing a surgical procedure where you cut the nerves controlling these glands. Short of that, you can either apply Driclor once a day until sweating stops, then reduce the application to 1-2x a week, or have a Botox injection to paralyze the nerves. However, the Botox injection for treatment of hyperhydrosis is still under study. But if it's not really a severe problem naman, just use tissue to wipe the excess sweat off, and avoid wearing confining shoes if you can.
