Hi,
I have a right perforated ear drum and I was wondering if I can continue my daily exercise routine. I just wanna confirm if exercising/strenuous activities are still ok because I don't wanna make my situation worse.
Thanks!
Rocker09: It's okay to continue your daily exercise. But if you have a perforated ear drum, you should have it repaired as soon as possible to prevent further complications.
nervioza16: Drink plenty of fluids and know the cause of the post-nasal drip. Usually, these are caused by colds, GERD or allergies.
mk13: If the bumps are not growing/painful and you have no fever or difficulty in swallowing/breathing, then I think it is nothing serious. They are usually caused by infection. But if they have been there for years, then it can be your normal throat papillae. It is hard to diagnose these red bumps without visualization. If they are really bothering you, then you can consult another ENT. He/she can probably give you other opinions regarding your case.
Hi! I was diagnosed of sinusitis. This started with an untreated cold, which eventually caused otitis media. I think this lasted for a month, and then an I had extreme attack of vetigo. My doctor said that I'm prone to colds because of my sinusitis and a slightly deviated maxilliary sinus. However, even though I'm on meds, I still experience extreme headache on the areas around my eyes, my temples and my eyes and ears sometimes hurt.Is this still sinusitis or something else?
^^ It can still be sinusitis, even though you are on medications. You can ask your physician for an analgesic to help you stop the headache.
thanks! how about that yellowish cyst (which started when I had a sore throat March this year) on my right tonsil, nandito parin sya. Right now I have no sore throat, no pain, no difficulty in swallowing/breathing. it's just there for almost two months.
I will visit my ENT sa 2nd week of June as scheduled. Kung andoon pa daw, ooperahan na. I'm just worried that this might be cancerous.

It would be wise to have it checked again, just to be sure that it's not serious. Usually, these can be caused by chronic infections.
Usually, allergic rhinitis has post-nasal drip. The constant secretion of mucus causes the it. You can also have GERD along with allergic rhinitis. GERD has different triggering factors in those affected by it. You can have a mild form of GERD and not feel it. Your ENT might have seen something in your throat for him/her to suspect GERD. Having GERD and allergic rhinitis can really be a burden. If you have GERD, you can ask your physician about gastrointestinal prokinetics, if he/she hasn't given any. It can help with the throat irritation.
Usually, medicines specifically for GERD can help, but they do not work that fast. I suggest you let your physician know that you want to stop your medicines because they do not work. He/she is in a better position regarding your concern and he/she can give you other medicines for GERD. Your nightly burping/belching maybe dyspepsia or GERD in itself. You can elevate your head more and avoid foods rich in carbohydrates and soda at night.
Hi, I've been searching about Eustachian Tube Dysfunction.
Prior to May 4 visit with an ENT I was experiencing periodical dizziness or vertigo. Eventually, the symptoms made me nauseous and experiencing headache as well as fatigue, thus, I decided to go to an ENT. The ENT prescribed initially 1 week of anti-histamine (since I have periodical allergic rhinitis), anti-vertigo at pain reliever and also referral to an Optho.
Sabi ng optho wala naman problem sa mata ko and possibly sa ears. The Optho asked me if I am doing some sports. I started running 3x a week last March (almost 2 months before I experience first symptoms). Optho said take more fluids baka nadehydrate lang ako ang follow the prescription of my ENT. Anyway, I decided to stop sports activity muna.
After a week nabawasan vertigo but generally same feeling. In fact, nadagdagan na din ng left ear pressure pain symptoms ko. So nag follow-up check up ako sa ENT. He subjected me to audiometry and ear-pressure tests. I was diagnose with Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. I was prescribed with Avamys Nasal Spray w/c I started last May 19.
After more than a week in Avamys nawala na headache, nabawasan frequency ng dizziness, ear pressure pain and had some days of good sleep. Slowly I tried light running. Now, on my 3rd week in Avamys napansin ko parang lutang ulo ko at off balance all the time w/ periodical fatigue. So stop uli sa sports.
I'm not sure if the sore throat symptoms or cold temperature in my office or sports activity aggravating my ETD. I stop sports activity na muna. Sore throat symptoms is gone. But off balance and head fullness nandun pa din.
Is it really sports activity? Or possibly w/ my intolerance sa cold temperature something to do w/ ETD problem? Lamigin kasi ako. Should I go back to my ENT or tuloy ko muna Avamys until 4 weeks? I'm worried and frustrated. Wala kasi ako energy to play w/ my daughter pag ganito.
I am 38yo male, 150lbs.
one side of my nose gets clogged whenever i lie down, especially when i sleep at night. it transfers to the other side when i turn. when i wake up in the morning, i can feel that there is post-nasal drip going to my throat and it is stuck there. i need to cough to clear my throat. i have already seen a doctor and i was told that that i have sinusitis since i have pain around the eyes and allergic rhinitis. he prescribed decolgen, fluimucil and cetrizine, but they did work.
ravv: It's really difficult to pinpoint on a specific cause in your case. Probably, it is caused by a lot of factors. Has your physician checked your thyroid function? Eustachian tube dysfunction can sometimes make one feel uneasy and light headed. I suggest, though not really contraindicated, that you stop running for a while, at least while you are on medications. Also, finish the full treatment regimen that was prescribed to you. If you have any immediate concerns, you can go back to your ENT for further clarifications.
thanks. I have totally stopped any sports activity right now. I've read that ETD is really something difficult to treat since doctor cannot see, smell, or feel it. my ENT has not checked my thyroid function yet though i've been telling him about my fatigue symptoms. i will continue to finish the 120 actuations of Avamys and will go back to ENT.
i was just wondering if i need to check w/ an allergologist instead? i suspect my allergy is the culprit as i've been pestered by allergy since after i underwent PTB medication 10 yrs ago. it started as asthma, then skin rashes, allergic rhinitis, frequent upper respiratory infection, sleeping problem, post-nasal drip, sinusitis, and now ETD.
i may be doing treatment for the symptoms but not the culprit
btw, anybody heard about Bee Sting Therapy for allergy?
You can also go to an allergologist regarding your concern. He/she can test your allergens and give the necessary treatment for the control of your allergy. Also, prevention of allergens is the best way to avoid the symptoms.
alright sir. thanks. that is part of the plan. though i plan to go to an allergologist after i finish my 120 actuations of Avamys and have another visit to my ENT. or would it be advisable to go to an allergologist immediately instead?
my condition right now while on Avamys is no more headache and ear pressure. dizziness is mild than before though not totally relieve from it inspite of having Avamys for more than 3 weeks already.
I think your ENT won't mind you visiting an allergologist. Just tell your allergologist that you are currently being treated by an ENT.
For about 2 months now, I feel like something is clogged on my throat. No pain, no itchiness, no difficulty swallowing. Just the feeling of having something stuck in there. Sometimes it goes away for a day, then it comes back. Could this be serious?![]()
thanks a lot.
btw, i came across topic about vestibular exercises. i've tried doing it for a couple of days now. it seems to help a lot. it looks like vestibular balance disorder is interrelated to eustachian tube dysfunction. i'm taking gingko biloba (also prescribed by ENT) and organic apple cider vinegar daily. what else could i possibly do to help me overcome this dizziness in a more natural way?
does anti histamine possibly cause side effects of imbalance? i've been thru diff antihistamine and more recently xyzal prior to my dizziness problem. this is to treat my occasional allergic rhinitis.
