    Confessions On A Dance Floor

Madonna's Confessions On A Dance Floor perked up considerably when third single Get Together was released, and retains its impetus as her UK tour unfolds.

The album dipped as low as number 115 last month but has rallied, improving its chart position six weeks in a row (115-97-94-57-33-28-24) and its sales seven times in nine weeks.

It sold 7,585 copies last week, taking its career tally to 1,152,360.

In America, it dips out of the Top 200 this week, with sales of 4,153 being six fewer than required for the anchor position on the list.

    Auctions
Madonna's Wedding Tiara Up for Bid for Katrina Victims.

EXCLUSIVE JEWELRY AUCTION TO BENEFIT CHARITY

Pieces include Madonna’s Wedding Tiara and the Howard Hughes/Terry Moore Collection

The charitable arm of prominent jewelry company Kazanjian Bros., Inc., the Kazanjian Foundation has donated 57 exquisite pieces from its collection to benefit the Rebuild the Soul of America Charitable Trust (RSOA.)

The auction featuring items such as the tiara that Madonna wore at her wedding began August 22, 2006. Bidding ends September 9. The jewelry are on display in Adler’s Jewelry store in New Orleans during the auction event.

"Certainly what’s getting a lot of attention is Madonna’s wedding tiara," said Tiffany Adler of Adler’s Jewelry.

She says the "Material Girl’s" 78 karat head piece has stirred up quite a craze.

Rebuild the Soul of America Charitable Trust (RSOA) is being formed as an independent not-for-profit entity focusing its efforts on rebuilding the cultural economy in America by supporting civic life, musicians and the integrated arts, and creating awareness of the critical role of the American Cultural community. The trust is being formed by Wynton Marsalis and will be directed by seven trustees.

The Jewels for Charity Auction hosted on eBay Giving Works will raise funds in conjunction with the Wynton Marsalis ”Celebrate Jazz Trio: Rebuild the Soul of America” Hurricane Katrina commemorative event beginning on August 22, 2006 at www.ebay.com/jewelsforcharity. For information visit CelebrateJazz or Jewels for Charity Benefit Post Katrina Recovery.

This Tiara, worn by Madonna at her December 2000 wedding to Guy Richie, is made up of 765 old cut diamonds, weighing approximately 78 carats. It can be made into a necklace by removing the top swag pieces. An Edwardian piece, it dates back to circa 1910. Retailed by Asprey of London.

The Edwardian era (1910’s) combination piece converts from a tiara on a fixed brown velvet wrapped frame to a fringed necklace. The lines and scrolls from seven graduating floral garlands connected on top by swinging floral festoons, and on the base by ornate scrolls.

The piece contains: Two old cut diamonds, one Old Mine Cut (OMC) at approx. 1.30 ct. and one Old European cut (OEC) at apx. 1.20ct. Twelve OMC & OEC diamonds, total weight (TW) apx. 6.80 ct. Seven hundred fifty OMC, OEC, and rose cut diamonds, TW apx. 73.70 ct. The total diamond weight is approx. 83.0, the quality range is F-G-H/VS-SI and the cuts are typical of the period. The diamonds are bezel and bead set symmetrically in the piece. It has a fitted green presentation box monogrammed K.E.2. April 1934.

    Billboard Bits: Madonna

    August 23, 2006, 3:25 PM ET

Despite reports in the British press that fans were balking at her high ticket prices, Madonna rang up eight sellouts at Wembley Arena beginning Aug. 1, notching the highest Billboard Boxscore gross of 2006 in the process.

Madonnna's Aug. 1, 3, 9-10, 12-13 and 15-16 shows at Wembley grossed $22,090,582 and drew 86,061 in attendance. Tickets were priced at U.S. $299.88-$149.94, well lower than in the United States, where seats top out at $350.

For Madonna to reach the top Boxscore is a remarkable feat, as serious box-office heights have already been scaled. Luis Miguel's 30-show stand at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City grossed $19,286,000, while Billy Joel's record 12-show run at Madison Square Garden in New York grossed $19,215,942.

    Troubles Over 'She's Madonna' .

ROD STEWART's stepson ASHLEY HAMILTON is threatening legal action against pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS for allegedly stealing a track they collaborated on for his new album. Hamilton, the son of Stewart's first wife ALANA, is furious SHE'S MADONNA appears on RUDEBOX without any mention of his input, and has vowed to drag his claim to rights through the courts if Williams doesn't compensate him. He insists the pair came up with the idea together three years (03), before Williams re-worked it with the PET SHOP BOYS for his latest album. Hamilton fumes, "We came up with this idea over coffee one afternoon. "Robbie said he had an idea for a song about some girl he used to date, TANIA STRECKER, and how she was dumped by GUY RITCHIE for MADONNA. "That was a slimey thing to do , so I said, 'Why don't we make a joke song about it?' We worked on the lyrics together at home and at the studio. "The next thing I know, a producer's ringing me up to say congratulations for getting my song on Robbie's record. I just said: 'I don't know what you're talking about!' "I was shocked. When you start working with someone, or you start an idea with someone, you're legally entitled to a share of the publishing. "I have the demos of that tape and will see him in court if I have to." Williams was found guilty of plagiarising another song in 2002 for his track JESUS IN A CAMPER VAN. He was ordered to remove it from hit album I'VE BEEN EXPECTING YOU and pay out substantial royalties. 24/08/2006 07:35 Contactmusic.com

Madonna may sing three times in Prague

Tabloid Blesk reports that pop star Madonna, who already has two concerts scheduled in Prague on September 6-7, will also sing for guests at the Louis Vuitton celebration in Prague on September 8.
According to the paper, Madonna will sing two or three songs at the event held on the occasion of Vuitton´s birthday on the historic Charles Bridge in the city´s centre.
As a result, she is to stay in Prague until September 9, Blesk writes.
As tickets for her Prague concert sold out immediately, Madonna decided to stage another one the next day. The tickets for the second concert were sold out in a record short time, too.

Authorities refuse to let Madonna perform at Moscow University

Authorities in Moscow have refused to allow the Madonna concert to be held on a hill overlooking the capital in front of Moscow State University, an official said Friday.

The pop diva is expected in Moscow September 11 as part of her controversial 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' tour. Moscow authorities said Tuesday the venue for the concert could be changed for security reasons.
"No permission has been given for Madonna's show on Vorobyovy Gory hill," Alexei Laushkin of the western Moscow administration said, adding the concert might be held in the north of the city.

Nikolai Kulikov, in charge of security issues in the Moscow government, said Tuesday that security concerns, including a blast at a market place Monday, prompted city authorities to consider an alternate site for the American pop icon's upcoming concert.

He said the large number of expected fans - up to 250,000 - could mean the concert would have to be moved from Vorobyovy Gory to the more spacious Tushino airfield in northwest Moscow.

However, Kulikov assured ticket holders that the concert would not be canceled under any circumstances, even in light of the bomb attack at a Moscow market that claimed 11 lives.

"Life must go on despite these blasts," he said, adding that security would be tighter.

Record crowd rides along with Madonna

Madonna makes her first concert in Denmark a memorable one for fans and officials alike in the city of Horsens.

Pop icon Madonna brought her European tour to Denmark Thursday night, wowing 85,000 fans who converged on the town of Horsens in Jutland. It was the country's largest concert ever.

The Material Girl has been on the pop scene for 23 years, but last night's concert was her first visit to Denmark and the only Scandinavian stop on her current Confessions tour.

Despite starting the show behind schedule, Madonna took the stage by storm, emerging from a giant disco ball to the sounds of well known tunes,
asking the crowd if they were 'ready to ride with her'.

When the ride finally stopped two hours later, fans said it was worth waiting hours in line to see.

Reviewers, however, were less ebullient in their praise for the 48-year-old, whose 350 million albums sold make her the most successful female singer ever. They had high praise for the shows opening and closing, but said it lost its energy in the middle.

Horsens has made a name for itself by attracting some of rock music's best known names. Despite the so-so reviews of the music, yesterday's concert topped them all financially.

'We've got 85,000 guests in our city and we expect businesses to take in an extra DKK 30 million (EUR 4 million) today,' said Horsens executive director Henning Norbak. 'Last year we had 23,000 guests for R.E.M, and we took in DKK 5.2 million (EUR 700,000).'
