Subic takes centerstage in Taiwan’s top drama soap and MTV

Sheng Hua Media Production, a top producer of popular drama series in Taiwan has chosen Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) as the film location for the drama entitled, “Kuo Huang Yi Hsiao.”
The four-episode will prominently showcase Subic as a tourist destination featuring scenes at Legenda Hotel, Grande Island, Ocean Adventure, Zoobic, El Kabayo, and Yacht Club. It will be aired this month on China TV on a primetime slot with an estimated three million viewership.
The company which also produced the TV drama “Lavander” recently shown in the Philippines, brought in a 25-man production team and cast led by seasoned actor Chu Chung Heng.
Also slated this month is the shooting of five music videos (MTV) featuring the songs of David Lee of Grasshopper Music under Sony BMG Records. Lee, a popular recording artist in Taiwan, has made a new career in producing MTVs with state-of-the-art computer animation and graphics. The videos will feature Philippine tourism celebrity endorsers singer and actress Hsiang Ma-Chen and actor Brian Chou.
Tourism Secretary Joseph H. Durano said that, “These are among the aggressive efforts of the DOT, the Manila Economic Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SMA) to promote the Philippines in the Taiwan market.” Visitors from Taiwan from January to May 2006 have reached 47,316 contributing 4.0 percent share of the total arrivals.
Tourists are attracted to Subic due to its numerous world-class amenities and activities inside the zone. Facilities include theme parks, yacht club and marina, casino, various restaurants and bars. Among the activities to choose from the horseback riding, island tour, kart racing, shopping, scuba diving and other water sports and cultural immersion with the local tribe.
