    Cool

    hello guys!

it's nice to know that a lot of us stil love "house music".

i myself is a dj, and eventhough i honestly love "hard house", i have no choice but to let the people get what they want to hear.
..just to make them dance, of course!

trance? - it's ok but some songs are really boring, agree?

    anyway guys...PEACE!!!

    Shall We Dance?
In Search of the Forgotten Beat
An expat techno DJ in Manila weighs in on the current local club scene

    by Ian D. Elliott a.k.a. Harmonika a.k.a. re.son

From all indications, Pinoy Indie Rock is doing just fine and dandy, thank you very much. But what about the Electronic/Dance Music scene in The Philippines? Many have been mourning its demise, few have actually discussed formulating a viable solution.

Most of the articles and interviews that I see related to the Dance Music scene in The Philippines are riddled with negativity and frustration, which would seem like an acceptable reaction given the indifference I see on the majority of the faces at various nightclubs and partie. But the fact is, these emotions rarely lend themselves to progression. When interviewed, many of the key players in the world of Dance Music speak of the need for positivity (and even though my spell checker is telling me that’s not a word, it’s the one that fits), and unless the main players in the scene here are willing to return to that directive, things will continue to remain as they are.

    ehehehe

Sex-o-Sonique's "Thought It Was You", Roger Sanchez's "I Never Knew", & Bob Sinclair's "I Feel for You" tracks make me go ballistic!

but then again, i'm not good with pigeonholing/labelling/categorizing music.

    Cool

No need to categorize and just call it dance music.

That article zimdude posted really hit a spot in every dj's dream here to spin and create dance music but lose to fickle-minded Pinoys when it comes to tastes. R&B and Hip-hop are fast becoming the main course in every club and House Music was given a rest but I believe that they can't take away house if we make more people aware of the different types of music it has offered and spawned (trance, techno, UK Garage, etc..). Let House Music show the way.

amen to that altar boy. i think anybody can appreciate house music without actually pigeonholing it. just listen to what sounds good. house music has gone a long way since its electro pop (new order, depeche mode circa 1985) and frankie knuckles days to the house music that we know now.

i just got Nude Dimensions Volume 3!! I'm the biggest fan(maybe one of the first) of the Naked Music crew...I love their music it's deep house with a lot of jazz and soul...the epitome of lush sensual music. This long awaited 3rd compilation shows the new direction the Naked Music crew is heading...more lounge, sexy music....i dare say it's great make out music You can bet that in most if not all New York City Hot Spots, they're going to play a lot of ala Nude Dimension tunes..great stuff

Although we can safely say that House is also under the category of electronic dance music, we might as well try to dwell on the other forms like drum and bass, triphop, UK garage, ambient, and other branches and technological advances in electronic music. We can truly appreciate the wonders of Music Technology through its many offsprings since the turn of the millenia by sharing more stuff here. Feel free to post what form of dance music you're into besides House music.

    Peace!

i first got into techno when i heard Chemical Brother's "Block Rockin' Beats". Then Armand Van Helden's "You Don't Know Me" and Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" became hits at the same time. by then, i was into house. back then, i didn't like trance and thought that thought that Better Off Alone was boring, but somewhere along the way, i sorta liked it and Trance became one of my favorite genres
