do we really have to follow wedding traditions?!

i'm not a traditional girl. i mean i'd rather follow what i feel is right, than conform with traditions. but they say wala namang mawawala if susunod tayo.

but there are these traditions that had been around for who knows how long like they said the bride should not see the groom the night before the wedding because it won't push though, or not letting the groom see the bride wearing the gown can't see why not...at least he can compliment her how great she looks in the outfit right?
and those something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue wedding details.

to those who got married na, did you follow these traditions by heart? and to the non-conformists here, share nyo naman yung traditions that you chose to "defy"

    hehe...

    * my husband saw me when I fit my gown...though the gown wasn't fully embelished then. Pero siyempre I need his comments din kung ok lang ba or hindi. All throughout our preps kasi we were together pag naglalakad or nag-aayos.

    * my hubby and I were together the night before we got married. Nagconfess po kami which is a requirement before you get married or receive any sacrament para nasa state of grace ka.

personally, it's up to you if you want to conform or not. Honestly, ala nga akong matandaan na tradition or pamahiin na sinunod ko nung wedding.

Atsaka, my belief kasi na lahat ng nangyayari ay God's plan. Kung may undesirable man mangyari it's part of the plan and not because di ka sumunod sa mga pamihiin or traditions.

yeah, i agree. if you're guided by God wala naman mangyayaring masama.
it's just that there's too much urban myths warning us about these pamahiin e.

how long have you been married? ako single pa, ineenjoy ko pa pagiging single ko

hi rule of four! di naman totoo yung mga paniniwalang yun...nung wedding day namin nagkita kami ni hubby kasi he has to deliver the flowers at home pero natuloy pa din ang wedding. as for the something old,blue,borrowed...wala rin kami nun...

ang importante talaga eh yung pagmamahalan talaga. sabi nga nila work on the marriage not on the wedding

been enjoying every moment of married life for more than 4 months pa lang. got married nung december pero seems like yesterday yung wedding and it's still very clear every moment that transpired...

pero may wedding plans na ba?

    good luck!

I don't believe in that tradition na hindi dapat makita ng groom yung bride prior to the wedding. Madami na akong nakitang couple na ganoon and natuloy din naman ang kasal nila. Another thing, mas maganda mag portraits yung couple pag fresh out of the hotel pa sila hindi pa sila pagod, bagong ligo at make up and maganda pa ang smile ng dalawa. Since daytime pa, maliwanag pa and good for outdoor portraits.

luiserapio, yeah i agree, people must work on having the perfect marriage, coz ang wedding day, it's fleeting - isang araw lang, whereas ang marriage, lifetime yan

mai19, wala pa naman wedding plans...i can't see myself tied down in the next ten years. dami pa plano sa buhay. ewan, maybe i'm not cut out for it

chaosloveswink, onga. i gues it just all boils down to the fact that people are changing, so are their beliefs and preference. mas practical kasi following your heart (and instinct na rin).

I'm an atheist and my gf has no problem with that but her parents wants us to have a church wedding.

Wala naman mawawala kung susundin yung mga traditions. Part na kase ng tradition ng mga Pinoy yan eh. Enjoy na din gawin.

Pero if you're not comfortable doing it, by all means don't do it. It's your wedding.
