    out of town weddings

hi! just want to share my thoughts...we will be having an out of town wedding this december in baguio. pros and cons?

    PROS

    1. we both think baguio has that perfect weather for a wedding --- hindi ako masyadong pagpapawisan also the guests. after the wedding, we, and also our guests can tour baguio. take a break from life in metro manila.
    2. i have met/communicated with most of my baguio-based suppliers and i would like to think na hindi naman sila pahuhuli with manila-based suppliers
    3. we had become closer to our friends... we had initially informed some of our friends already. our close friends are really saving for the day already and we really appreciate that --- our friends are exerting extra effort to be with us on our day --- some have already filed their leaves, scouting for place to stay...

    CONS

    1. because of the distance, some may not be able to come because of health and family reasons (ex. married officemates and friends --- to keep the wedding intimate, we decided to invite officemates but no husbands/bfs/gfs/wives)
    2. tiring to travel up and down to check on stuff, also costly. good thing, there's email and text.

but still --- the pros win over the cons!!! we are so excited!

through this forum, let's share our thoughts on how to handle out-of-town weddings. thanks!

My sister had her wedding in Baguio. Chruch was at St. Josephs and reception at John Hay. You're right about the weather. Just some little things you might want to consider:

    1) Avoid St. Joseph's Church. Right in the middle of the mass, their representatives suddenly gave out donation envelopes to the principal sponsors w/o my sister's knowledge and permission.

    2) You might have a hard time looking for a competent wedding planner if you're getting someone local.

    3) If your plans aren't final, consider Tagaytay. I find that it gives couples more flexibility and choices in terms of venues and suppliers.

    Hello nans,

Welcome to myKASAL.COMmunity! We hope you enjoy your membership here.

If your main concern is the weather (plus a nice out-of-town break for your loved ones and friends), rabbaddal is correct that Tagaytay can provide both pros. Plus, since Tagaytay is approx. 1-2 hours away from Manila, it might encourage more guests to come.

However, if all is set, no need for second thoughts. Go and have your Baguio dream wedding!

Can you share with us who are your confirmed suppliers and how you got them?

Again, thanks for joining and please don't forget to affix your signature (name of couple, wedding date, church/venue) everytime you post

    regards,

hello, guys! if you need a wedding coordinator in baguio, please pm so i can give you my friends contact number. she is both a florist and a coordinator and is based in baguio. she did several weddings in camp john hay and baguio country club.

My friend was married in Baguio last December 2004 (garden wedding at The Manor Camp John Hay). Her coordinator was from baguio but almost the rest were Manila-based. They tried checking suppliers from baguio, they are not that good daw like the ones based here in Manila. I suggest you check websites of baguio-based suppliers and check out their works or if you will be in the area, you may visit their shops and check out sample works.

I forgot to mention that her coordinator was also good but I forgot the name of the company. Try to ask my friend and post it next time.

    my baguio wedding

Hi, Im getting married this march 8, 2008 and its going to be in Baguio. I got the baguio cathedral, our caterer would be el Cielito Inn. I like it in baguio because thats where we met and the price is cheaper compared to manila but quality is good.
Our original plan is to have the reception at the bell ampitheater at Camp John Hay, but I am now facing a major problem!!!!!!!!

John Hay is not accepting any reservations at the moment because they will have a renovation anytime this year and they cannot commit!

Do you have any suggestions for a venue? garden din sana, sayang ang nature as our backdrop if its going to be in an enclosed area

OMG! I was planning to have a wedding at the amphitheater in May of 2008. Walang sinabi yung wedding coordinator namin about this ha. matanong nga.

Try Ating Tahanan near Baguio Country Club. Or Piraso Resort at Evangelista Street. You can also try Corral Gardens at Guisad. Or if not try bell church baka pwede.hehe

Batangas is also a great option for out of town weddings especially now that the SLEX extension is almost finished. Great beaches 3-4 hrs away from Manila and great venues 1-3 hours away. Malamig din sa Batangas especially sa Lipa.

    Wink Out of town wedding

Ours would be on Oct. 2o11, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Manaoag, Pangasinan...
Most guest will come from Manila, and some from Ilocos and Albay.
Gusto kasi namin na pilgrimage na rin ng mga guests namin ang pag-attend nila ng wedding namin sa Manaoag.
Reception is in a resort in urdaneta

Positive naman ang response ng karamihan ng sinabihan at ininvite namin, kahit na they'll travel, or get a room in a hotel at their own expense (Take note, hindi mayayaman mga guests, professionals, but not too rich)
Hoping for a successful wedding kahit out-of-town kami...

    @marianne

talaga? taga pangasinan ka ba? balak din namin ikasal ng hubby ko sa manaoag pero wala pa kami budget for now... taga urdaneta ako and my hubby taga zamboanga, lahat din mangngagaling ng manila buti na lang yung fam ko nasa urdaneta lang. lam ko yung resort na sinasabi mo lisland resort... wedding supplier kami ng hubby ko, coordinator, florist, mkeup artist and couturier... gud luck sa wedding! nga *** may mga hotel dun yung urduja hotel dun sila pde mgstay, may chowking sa baba nun.
