For someone who wanted to go into this game, how much would one spend for gear, equipment, etc?

can anyone give me an idea, please?

  3. #83

    Post

A second hand AEG would typically go for 8,000 - 15,000 depending on the type of gun and the upgrades that have been done to them. New ones go for 10,000 - 16,000, again depending on the type of gun.

For the equipment and gear, you can go to Quiapo, Crame, or even Dau and look for camouflage uniforms and other gears. These would set you back 1,000 - 3,000, get second hand stuff so it wouldnt cost that much.

For combat boots, try Fort Bonifacio (they're the only ones with size 10 boots). You can order a swat looking vest for around 2500PHP (from Hongkong). Gloves are around 800PHP, Balaclava for 100PHP?

i like that mean looking TM steyr aug. how does it perform?

  11. #91

    Post

The Steyr Aug is my main battle rifle, it can double as a sniper weapon or a fire suport weapon because of its rate of fire. I'm going to upgrade mine into a real sniper rifle when i have the money

Then I have an MP5A5 as my CQB weapon, it's small yet powerfull enough to be used in FIBUA games.

Last on my AEG armory is an HK51 shorty for the really heavy fire support. It's only shorter than the G3SG1 barrel by 2 1/2" but it can match the SG1's range and hi-cap magazine.

GOwin, did you see the other airsoft thread - a rather short one - announcing the telecast schedule of Sports Unlimited featuring airsoft? I think that was about 2 weeks ago...

Anyway, thanks to tv exposure,.. our numbers are growing.. again. It has been pretty much like that for local airsoft since it started in the mid-80s - repeatedly growing and shrinking, depending on what most people find trendy at the moment.

I belong to Action Games League (AGL),.. and we used to play inside Fort Bonifacio until our play area (behind PNOC) got bulldozed flat to make way for development. We currently play in a demolished steel mill compound - an area bigger than Greenhills Commercial Center, dotted with partially torn structures, loose bricks and rubble, trenches and diggings that look like foxholes,.. it looks like the location set for "Enemy at the Gates." Where there are more intact structures the place starts resembling "Saving Pvt. Ryan" and "Band of Brothers." Two sides of the place is bordered by tall grass areas, bush and ipil-ipil groves, with bigger taller trees along the (Marikina) river edge,.. it could pass for Vietnam-retro. Sometimes, we bring the game over to the (former) Payanig-sa-Pasig grounds - where the Sports Unlimited feature was done.

SickGurl, you might be interested to find out that we are reviving our all-girls team. At the moment, we don't have as many as the PPG,.. but maybe, in time we could form a worthy match. We play every weekend, rain or shine, barring storms, earthquakes, edsa4 or the like. You can observe first if you like, or jump into the game with borrowed or rented equipment. Just give us notice when you might want to join us. E-mail agl1985@hotmail.com or visit our message boards at www.agl1985.org.

Most popular airsoft guns cost between 22,000yen to 36,000yen. Some find it surprising that local prices approximate the actual yen-to-peso conversion, which at present is about 2yen = 1 Peso. That makes the price range P11,000 to P18,000 for brand new stock electric airsoft. Sometimes, it can go even lower. Unmodified 2nd-hands may sell for P5,000 while upgraded ones range from P9,000 to P15,000 depending on model and extent of custom work.

The better rule in buying an airsoft gun is "find what feels 'right' or good in your hands." What looks good, or mean, may not necessarily feel comfortable to carry, aim, shoot, change magazines,.. and may not even perform as expected. Whatever anybody else says, gun choice is a very personal thing, and what works for one may not always work for another. It would be a good idea to go to the game, observe, ask the players about their guns, handle to get the "feel", and maybe even test fire - then decide.

Regardless of the the size, shape or general look of an electric gun.. in stock form, it will perform just about as well as any other stock model. In improving the performance of our stock gun, don't go buying every upgrade part you see on the shelves.. ask someone who does upgrade and maintenance... or you could go to our free technical training sessions.

AGL is going to host a 5-man team SPEEDBALL event within the next few weeks. It's a good a time as any to watch airsoft frenzy. If a sizable number of first-timers express interest, we just might open a novice category.

We play EVERY weekend. Sometimes, we play even if its a religious holiday, or there is a storm (just as long as no floods). If at all possible, we'd play the whole 52 weekends in a year! And that's not even counting the special games and events which may fall on weekday holidays. So,.. if any of you would want to watch, feel free to drop in while we play.

(former) Payanig-sa-Pasig carnival grounds: From Ortigas Ave. infront of Meralco Bldg., turn right on Meralco Ave. going towards ULTRA, drive to J.Vargas intersection and make a U-turn. Drive past the row of restaurants, and turn into the parking area just past the Gutson's billiard hall.

If going to PISCOR compound: Take Ortigas Ave. going to Rosario (towards Antipolo) past Ortigas/C5 intersection, and cross Rosario Bridge. Take the next left (traffic light intersection) and drive on for about 1 km. until you see a Caltex station (just before Maggahan floodway bridge). Enter the grey gate beside the station and go all the way to the end of the road. There is a feature on airsoft and AGL in the latest issue of Men's Zone lifestyle magazine (available in most bookstores and magazine stands), and there are pictures showing what PISCOR is like.

AGL will be holding games in the mentioned venues in the following weeks, and maybe till Christmas season. To verify which of the fields will be used at a particular weekend, please call 641-8165 (Rex) or check the bulletin board at www.agl1985.org. We have several rental units available in case a walk-ins would want to try the game firsthand. We will also be having demo games in Subic and Baguio, and overnight games in Clark and Grande Island, Subic in the following months.

(Hhey guys, please remember to keep this thread clean. i really prefer the PEx forums over all others, except probably for PPC )

oo nga pala, wala bang mailing-list ang local airsoft community/teams?

GOwin : I was initially tempted to downplay the topic you brought up.. but.. that would've been simply cosmetic whitewashing. So I'll be honest with you.

Somebody once said, "10 Pinoys were stranded on an island, and they formed an association. One year later, they were still on the island,.. but there were now 10 different associations."

It's funny, but true, and also sad. The dynamics of having an organization is the bigger it gets, the more there gets to be people who have their own ideas of running things. Many stretch the bounds of independent thinking, such that when they don't, or can't, agree with current setup they often put up their own. That's why the country has (at least) 2 gymnastic federations, 2 chess federations, the PBA and the MBA,.. and from AGL, which started 1985, sprang many of the other teams around.

All this is fine for as long as the different groups stay clear of each other's way. It becomes a different matter when they see fit to compete for the same support base. Such was the case when gaijin's airsoft thread got trashed,.. and as in the case of what you read in the AGL bulletin board. Said board is kept unrestricted so nobody could ever complain of censorship. It also allows everyone to see all sides of any issue which may affect them,.. and decide for themselves.

And if attendance is any measure, then it looks like we're doing something right. Players now number 70+ during regular Sunday games. Today, it was 85+. In the US, Canada, England, Italy and other parts of Europe,.. and even Japan, it takes organizing a big event just to get that many. We're hoping the trend follows that of the '93 playing season when single-day attendance figures broke the 200 mark.

Ignore the politics, whenever wherever you see it - it's the same all over. Just keep your mind on your game and what you want to get out of it, and you'd be in for lots of fun and exciting experience.

You can visit these sites for info on schedules, teams, and sites where they usually play OmegaZone Airsoft, Airsoft Philippines, and Philippine National Airsoft Society.

We have games every weekend and there are lots of teams within the community that are willing to accomodate you. The games during weekends are almost always with other teams and if you decide to join or watch the games, pick one that plays near you. The contact persons for the PNAS affiliates are in the PNAS teams page.
