    sharing lang

hello, just wanna share... my 6 month old started on solids a couple of weeks ago. i started him on rice cereal na homemade. i bought brown rice then ground it tapos cooked it. i added a little milk to make it malabnaw and para daw may familiar taste. after a week oatmeal naman. same thing, i added milk din. tomorrow naman he'll start on mashed potatoes. plan ko ipakain veggies muna then fruits.

Talagang bumabagal ang weight gain when baby is around 1 yr old. Baka din naman payat kayo so genetics cause nito. Best to consult your pedia pa rin. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing this info MaiKa... I'll try this on my baby at the end of May siguro. Do babies prefer brown rice or white rice?

maika: i was also hoping to feed my homemade baby brown rice cereal (he's starting solids na next month) but people tell me not to kasi magaspang and the baby might have a hard time eating it. how did your baby take it? no problems naman? thanks for sharing.

i got this recipe from wholesomebabyfood.com:

    Rice Cereal

1/4 c. rice powder (brown rice ground in blender or food processor)
    1 cup water

    1. Bring liquid to boil in saucepan. Add the rice powder while stirring constantly.
    3. Simmer for 10 minutes, whisking constantly, mix in formula or breast milk and fruits if desired
    3. Serve warm.

there's also a good solid food introduction chart here: http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/solids.htm

    hello sa mga mommies,

Babies can begin eating table food between four and six months as long as it's healthful and the right consistency. It's important to let your baby decide if he or she wants to begin early or to wait until another month or two has passed. There's nothing gained by rushing the baby if he or she is uninterested in solids early on . And if the baby's family has a history of allergies, waiting may be better.

Introduce solids gradually--just a few spoonfuls a day--giving your baby time to get used to this new experience. (Of course, for those babies who like solid foods immediately, let them dig in right away.) While there's no set rules about which foods to introduce first, pediatricians usually recommend beginning with infant cereal and then moving on to fruits and vegetables a few weeks later, then grains and, finally, meats.

we starting feeding my little princess with mash fruits at 4 months, crops 6 months and vegetables at 8 months. We start intruducing mash rice, soups and bread at 9 months. Now, she's 14 months old and she almost eat everything that we also eat and that's with approval po ng pedia nya. Ndi ko po *** pinakain ng mga gerber or nestle cereals kasi po based on my experienced with my 2 sisters, naging maselan po *** sa mga foods nung baby pa ***.

you can introduce him/her 3 ounces of applejuice(gerber or any other brand) and dilute it with an ounce of water.

Thanks, slowjamz21. I bought Earth's Best (also read about it here) pear juice...I bought rin fresh oranges na sabi ng sis-in-law ko to dilute 1:1 oj and water. I'm looking rin for prune juice kasi medyo constipated si baby.

^^i agree.. at least that way you're definitely sure that the food is all natural.

try mashed potatoes or blending some squash and flavoring it with a little chicken broth (real chicken broth not the ones you get out of bullions) my daughter used to like that.

try squash or carrots blended with bits of white meat.. colorful food has an appeal to some babies.

also oatmeal sprinkled with some of his/her formula (powder) would also be good.

^^u can also add sliced fruits (whatever ur baby likes)..my son likes his oatmeal with bananas...

I saw Milupa in Cash & Carry (Makati) and Uni-Mart (Greenhills). Does anyone have experience with this brand of baby food: Healthy Times? I saw Healthy Options carrying it and I'm curious about it.

tina11, you don't actually have to buy a blender to make homemade baby food though having one will make your life easier. meron available sa baby stores na baby food maker na mano-mano mo is-strain yung food. ainon yung tatak ng binigay ng sister ko sa akin.

Ay, what does that look like? Would it be possible for you to post a pic? I tried googling "ainon baby" but didn't get anything
