Kenshin and Kaoru. There is no dispute over this couple as Watsuki himself paired them up. Some argument may be over who is more suitable – Tomoe or Kaoru. I would have to say Kaoru simply because she really does love him and gives Kenshin a new peace. Her voice could call him back from a Battousai stage and she gave him a will to live. Some may say that Kenshin never really loved Tomoe, but I feel that is wrong. He must have loved this girl who showed him a part of life that he had never known. She was a peace for him as well. But, things would never have been quite right between the two – their love could never be as true as Kenshin and Kaoru’s. These two would truly welcome the new age…together.

Tomoe was Ken's first sexual experience, and first experience of passion; Kaoru will be the woman he spends the rest of his life with--grow old together, raise kids together...everything. What's touching about Kaoru is that she isn't quite like Tomoe was...she is still young, still green, still too much of a tomboy, and she has to grow into her role little by little. watched the oav already and am reading some translated manga scans of the series, and i feel that kenshin and kaoru developed their feelings spontaneously, whereas with tomoe there was an element of necessity and solitude which ultimately led to the latter's love to kenshin (parang "blue lagoon" ba, if you're with one girl all the time...it just happens).

I'm a K+K fan as well. Very devoted to. I'm just glad that most people can see what Kenshin and Kaoru have together.
And not to undermine Tomoe's role in Kenshin's life, but as what the whole series have clearly pointed out, past is past. Treasure it, but don't agonize over it... or else you're just gonna be stuck there, and it's not the prettiest place to be.

2. She loved Kenshin at his worst self. Something that I would probably never see from Kaoru. Some anti-Tomoe people here may argue that Tomoe’s real love was Kiyosato. In any case, there’s no doubt that Tomoe loved Kenshin. He indeed brought back Tomoe’s lost happiness.
3. Tomoe was the first. Simple statement, but it says a lot of things.
4. Kenshin expressed more of his love for Tomoe than Kaoru. You know, out of the 95 episodes of RK na napanood ko, the only scene that I can truly call romantic was the part where Kenshin has to leave Kaoru to fight Shishio.
That episode ranks among the best episodes (if not actually the best) in the entire TV seires. Samantalang yung OVA, apat na episodes lang, it already beats the entire TV series for having the most ‘romantic’ scenes in its entire history.
5. Grabe. Sobrang mahinhin si Tomoe. Gotta love that character.
Further comments on my reasons
1. Well, I think subjective yung sinabi ko na ‘Tomoe is prettier’. Anyway, if I see Kaoru drawn in an OVA style, she may more likely beat her pagdating
sa pagandahan. So OK, my reason number one can be countered.
2. My statement number 2 cannot be countered.
3. My statement number 3 also cannot be countered
4. Subjective din tong comment kong to. Maybe in the manga series, Kenshin may have expressed his love more for Kaoru. Kasi, nagka-anak sila. But it’s more likely too that Kenshin and Tomoe went beyond husband and wife in
disguise. It’s 99.9% possible that they too had a physical relationship. Hindi na nga lang pinakita sa OVA kasi hindi naman hentai yun eh. Ah basta. It seems that Kenshin indeed loved Tomoe more than Kaoru.
5. My statement number 5 ang pinaka unquestionable sa lahat. Kaoru is totally the opposite of statement number 5. She’s a living AMAZONA for Christ’s sake. She nags. She’s a swordswoman. What else? She can beat the crap of some of Shishio’s troops, and worst of all, her punch blew Sanozuke and Yahiko “sky high” nung lasing siya tapos these two guys attempted to get the ring out of her finger. Remember that episode? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
6. Ah eto pa, masyado siyang selosa. Nakita lang niyang katabi ni Megumi si Kenshin, nag ala-Miriam Defensor Santiago na siya sa galit. HAHA! Actually, I have nothing against Kaoru. I even think that Kaoru is a better pair for the newly reformed “nice guy” Battousai. Bawasan lang niya yung AMAZONA attitude niya by 50 percent, and my vote goes to her.

- at last, i will post my biased opinions sa thread na 'to. frankly, i don't like kaoru. tomoe's okay. but i'm not that crazy about her or any of the rk females... except if you consider kamatari female. kneels and worships kamatari altar i think tomoe and kenshin are more suited for each other. why? for one thing, it's tomoe who saw kenshin's dark-side days and still was able to love him despite everything. second, tomoe doesn't boss kenshin around. and what about kaoru? she claims that she doesn't care about kenshin's past... but from the looks of things, SHE DOES and imposes how our main protagonist should behave and decide... can't she just accept his decisions without resorting to beating him or crying? is it all concern? probably. but she has to consider that kenshin needs to discover his real self and how can he do so if she keeps telling him that the REAL KENSHIN HIMURA is the one she knows and that he should stay at the dojo? sa tanda ni kenshin, 'di na niya kailangan ng tulong ni kaoru... and as if all ears si kenshin sa kanya...AH!!! binigay ni kenshin sword niya kay yahiko!!! the way things turned out sa rk... sayang... i liked the beginning episodes up to the shioshio arc plus the shogo arc, and of course the pre-meiji oavs. that's about it.

Good question, difficult to answer. Tomoe and Kaoru had different roles in Kenshin's life. If I remember correctly, Tomoe was supposed to be the sheath to Kenshin (the sword). Her job was to restrain Kenshin. Kaoru, on the other hand, took upon herself the job of bringing Kenshin back to the real world. After all, you won't find too many people who are willing to accomodate a former slasher (the most brutal one at that) into their homes, much less in their lives. I can still recall Kenshin's reaction when Kaoru told him that he now had a home. He said, "I have a home." (Kenshin-Kaoru's return from Aoiya, after the Shishio saga)Maybe I have this thing for quiet girls. I personally prefer Kenshin and Tomoe
15. oil- for me, i will say that i like tomoe and kenshin, why because they met on a rainy night... even if rk should have killed her for seeing the incident, he retired and protected her.... but as the story goes its tomoe the one who had save rk. as their love story ends, the crossed scar on rk's left cheek is a reminder that ones in his lyf there is a woman who would have killed him but chose to love him and her life for him...............

She loves Kenshin so much she is ready to give her life to protect eh. I believe that she was Kenshin's soulmate because she is the reason why Kenshin became a vagabond, she had a great influence over Kenshin.
