i was ten years old then, bored out of my wits in class. then i saw this paperback (the choose-your-own-adventure kind) peeking out of my classmates bag. i asked if i could borrow it. she said yes.

long story short, i read while clueless mr.manzo went on with his lecture. `been hooked ever since.

Because of my old friend since elementary. She let me borrowed some of her teen novels like Sweet Valley High and Fear Street. Then later I found myself looking for more like the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys novels in the library. I became a bookworm eversince.

When i was a kid, I loved hanging out in the school's library, scouring the encyclopedias in the reference section. My attention eventually gone towards fiction (Bobsey twins, Enid Blytons and choose your own adventure books). That's when I started reading more until I went through college.

Reading books are like taking a breather from my own reality, even for just twenty minutes.

cereal boxes made me love reading. i remember when i was a little girl, i was fascinated by what toy surprise i'd find inside our cereal box so i'd read the box at the breakfast table. then i'd shift on to other parts of the box, reading about cereal, how it was made (even all the nutritional stuff i couldn't understand yet, hehe). So i'd move on to read labels on our canned goods as well. Then I'd hang out a lot in my classroom's book corner. We werent allowed unsupervised in the library yet since I was only in the 1st grade so I just had to content myself with my classroom's book corner. The nursery rhymes were magical. When I was in the 2nd grade, we could go to the library anytime and I'd be taking home 1 book and finishing it in 2 days. Once I came across a book on Egyptian mummy stories (a bit scary) and I cant remember the title anymore but it got me interested in other Egyptian folklore, then Greek mythology. Up to now, I still re-read Edith Hamilton I've stopped buying books because of budget constraints so I just borrow and think over the ones that I'd really like to own. Those are the ones I buy. But I dont think I'll ever stop reading.

search for meaning, i guess. boredom na rin. a form of escape.

after that, i was addicted to finding deeper truths in life. of the power of myths and the commonness of all humans. books point to us how to achieve experiences of being alive.

I was given a book of nursery rhymes during primary school. I even memorized some of them.

During my third grade, we were given the permission to borrow books from the library. It was my first time to go inside the secondary library, since when we were at primary they used to give us books with lots of pictures on it. I now have access to real books because we are able to read paragraphs in english at this level.

The first books that I learned to read was The Sweet Valley Kids and Goosebumps! Oh those were the days. I collected volumes and volumes of SVK and had been a bookworm ever since. Our fiction section at our library becomes my haven during lunch breaks. But hell I'm not a geeky person with glasses, I just love books, but I still have a healthy social life.

In high school, the HP series became popular and that's also the time we were introduced to the classics like Austen, Shakespeare, Homer and Dickens.

I read books to basically widen my vocabulary, and as a child I was always full of imagination...so books always give me a natural high.

i discover my own love of reading when I was in grade five, yung brother ko na nag-aaral maging Pastor,nag-uwi sya ng makapal na tagalog bible sa bahay,so ayun bigla ko na lang naisipan basa-basahin,yung time na iyon, wala pa sa isip ko yung relihiyon relihiyon, basta ang gusto ko lang basahin yung story sa bible, before I knew it natapos ko sya from cover to cover, old & new testament pa iyon ha,so ayun eversince, nahilig na ako sa pagbabasa.

Shallow reasons. I wanted to look smart so I started reading a book. I was in Gradeschool then. To my surprise, I enjoyed the book. I just can't remember what book it was.

It started when we read a greek mythology book in high school. That got me into reading for some reason.

I also remember when I was young I always enjoyed reading illustrated book, my first book was Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus. I still have that copy of the book
