kailangan talaga pinaparami mo yung vocabulary mo...kasi yun yung kulang sa akin so far...alam ko yung mga conjugation ng mga verbs sa iba'ibang tenses but i have to consult a dictionary first to translate yung action word na gusto kong gamitin na nasa infinitive form doon...ayun..hirap nga sa bahay eh..di gaanong makapagpractice orally kasi walang nakakaintindi!

level 1-5 beginner...level 6-10 intermediate...level 11-14 advanced..level 15-18 expert...i heard sa isang dati kong kaklase na ngayon daw kahit matapos mo yung let's say..lv1-5 hindi ka pa rin makakapunta sa next phase - advanced without taking a test..at saka usually naman after at the end of each level may written at oral test kayo!....
matuto ka naman talaga..basta constant practice lang pagkatapos mong absorb yung pinag-aralan...

base sa experience ko...i could at least carry on simple conversation and ask simple questions using basic words din...kasi sa beginner tinuturo nila yung talagang very common na ginagamit ng mga spanish...tinaturo talaga rin nila yung gingamit sa specific situations..like ordering food in a restaurant...introducing yourselves...asking and giving directions...buying something...and many more applicable to the usual daily activities....tapos yung mga tenses for present, past, past perfect etc. ...and that's just for beginners

to learn more info...why don't you visit the official website of Instituto Cervantes de Manila: http://manila.cervantes.es/

i hope i was able to be of help
kasi balak ko sana mag apply sa call center as spanish speaking agent(i heard malaki daw sweldo dun!hehehe! kaya lang baka ang dating dun sa kausap ko na client(na cguradong native spanish) e barok ako...kaya gusto ko sana maging "fluent" at least sa conversational english..hehehe! tulad ng sabi mo, mas mahahasa pag may kausap din para di makalimutan kaya naicip ko baka pwede lalo mahasa pag nasa call center at kausap mga spanish speaking client..hehehe..

so you mean, nagaral ka sa instituto before mag college?astig!

Guys, there are lots of scholarships available. Check out embassies of small countries because they might be offering those.

Tip: get a classified ads page and check out the qualifications needed to be in UN or other organizations. You will notice that they're looking for sociology grads most of the time. Don't hope too much for working at embassies because you have to remember that: 1) They only employ limited number of people and 2) You're not the only ones taking up IS. Note that Ateneo, Lyceum, UP, etc also offer this course.

how bout dun sa mga kumuha ng MA ISE, mas may chance ba na ma-hire sa mga embassy?

  7. #87
Yung nag-aral ng French sa France, hindi yun nag-masters. Ang habol ng mga embassies ang fluency sa lengguwahe. Isa lang ang kilala kong nag-MA sa 'min. Pero hindi niya tinuloy. She's taking up nursing again. 3 sa blockmates ko kumukuha ng nursing. May isa kumuha ng postgrad studies sa IT [now works for Accenture].

It's sad how the lack of job opportunities in the country lead most people to discontinue their desired pursuits.

Yup.

ah maganda naman pala ginagawa niyo sa MATAPRE, very ***-ish. papers, papers, and more papers! hehehe i just don't like the course code itself... i'm sure they could come up with something better.

good luck on your studies! and aim for DL!

san po ba nag-oOJT ang mga ISE majors? do you think it's a futile effort kung di rin namn magagmit para mkapgtrabaho na related sa cors na to? kasi judging from the experiences ng mga ISE grads na pinost **, they ended up working in (totally) different fields..ala lang, naobserve ko lang po..

unless one is fluent in a particular euro language, mukhang sa pagiging professor din ang magiging work ng mga grads na related sa cors na 'to( if ever kumuha ng post grad studies).. *** iba pala ng nursing at nag IT..

  14. #94
^OJT? Sa UN [library---->taga-cut and paste], sa mga embassy [such as Croatia's and other small embassies], travel agency [totally unrelated to the course], etc. Eto lang mga naaalala ko eh. Btw, yeah, may kaklase akong nagtrabaho as professor sa Benilde, sa Consular and Diplomatics course dun. Pero ngayon, nasa multinational company na rin.

Yeah, one really, Really, REALLY needs to be fluent in a particular language. Yun lang actually ang naisip naming edge namin [too late nung na-realize namin 'to, graduating na kami!] PERO hindi rin kami fluent pagka-graduate namin. Like me, I took up French. Pero hanggang imperfect tense lang. As in aside from the simple tenses at imperfect tense, wala na. As in elementary French lang. Ang pangit kasi, hindi hawak ng La Salle ang profs ng languages kasi like in our case, handled by Alliance ang French namin. So hindi hawak ng La Salle. Edi walang syllabus. Ang prof lang ang bahala kung anong gusto niyang ituro. Feel ng prof namin na imperfect tense hindi namin ma-perfect kaya ayun, 2-3 sems, puro yun lang ang inaral namin halos, super stuck to that topic kami, hindi nag-move on.

Kung embassy lang din habol mo, just take up French as an extra subject. You can also study it outside La Salle, sa Alliance na lang. Ganun. Kasi naku, sayaaaang talaga French namin. Sayang ang bayad tapos at the end of 3 years, sobrang basic lang alam namin. DOn't count on IS's French language program.

Guys, please do remember this. IS is a branch of political science. If you think political science is an impractical course [unless you're planning to take up law], just don't enrol in this. VERY useless if you don't follow through. Si Sir Gan na mismo ang nagsabi nito. And now we believe him.

  15. #95
I'm not saying na hindi ka matatanggap sa embassy kahit na may MA ka... what I'm saying is, fluency is their #1 criteria. If you have an MA and you're not fluent in French, mababa pa rin ang tsansang matanggap ka.

And actually, this course is highly academic. Meaning, if you've already done your MAs and stuff, malamang sa academe din ang bagsak mo... research, teaching, etc.

^ dude tanong lang, ab-ise din ako major in spanish, medyo ok na yun castillian ko kasi bata palang deep chavacano na sinasalita ko kaya parang sisiw nalang ang spanish sa lasalle, hawak pa ng Cervantes un program... pero plano ko talaga maging lawyer, tapos mag masters ako ng international law.. ok bang pre-law course itong ab-ise?

  17. #97
^I *think* so, yes. Kasi may international law kayo na subject dito eh. Though it's still best to ask the department about this, just to be sure.

    @masterjedi
un chabacano ko galing zamboanga eh, iba din yun sa Cavite.. yup, chabacano is entirely different with ilonggo lalo na pag deep chavacano.. The thing with chabacano is that its vocabulary is already 80% Spanish so yun kelangan ko nalang eh yun conjugation pati word tenses, kasi un chabacano parang Spanish na halo-halo.

    Example:
    Soy Green_Promdi.
Yo si Green_Promdi. (take note, chabacano is mixed with a little bit of tagalog/cebuano that is why si is used while Yo is I in spanish)

pero sa totoo lang kahit yun tagalog may spanish words naman ah, kaya simple lang sa pinoy na matuto ng Spanish, yun accent na lang pagtrabuhin mo, kasi yun sakin parang Mexicano ang tunog dahil sa probinsya ko

  20. #100
bakit sabi nila coolcucumber di tlaga magiging fluent sa pagaaral ng foreign language sa dlsu(or words to that effect)? or is it a different case kasi INstituto ang my hawak sa Spanish At Alliance sa French ?
