Kahit anong kurso basta may konek dito.

^yup, as i have mentioned before, the luckier ones were able to work for embassies/consulates and international organizations. some were even able to get scholarships to take up their MA abroad. some even chose to pursue law. i have several friends kase who took AB-ISE before. don't be discouraged guys, if this is really the course that you want then go for it.![]()
How can you be qualified to take the major? mahirap po bang matanggap sa international organizations or companies? i started studying spanish in instituto cervantes when i was in 3rd yr h.s....lv. 6 na po ako...if i master that specific language would it make my entry on int'l orgs or companies easier?
i think you have to do well in instudi and poligov (get a grade of 2.5 and above) for you to be able to take your major courses. the hardest would be to read hundreds of pages of readings that will only be discussed in one lesson and, of course, the research papers that you have to prepare regularly. also, it is always an advantage to be fluent in another foreign language (aside from english).Originally Posted by sheherazade
international organizations and embassies rarely announce if they have job vacancies. sometimes they ask schools, cultural centers (like alliance, instituto, goethe, etc) or their own employees for people that they can recommend. they require applicants to have at least basic/conversational skills in a european language (french, german, spanish or italian), yung iba minsan gusto talaga fluent.
If you have problems obtaining the Poligov book, PM me. I just forgot the title of that pero sure ako yun yung nirerecommend.
At saka wala namang problem sa editions. Almost pare-pareho lang yung content and minute lang yung changes.
kapag regular yung classes mo around P 2200, but if every saturday yung classes gaya nung sa akin mga P 2500 for ten consecutive saturdays - 3 hours and mas mahal ata pag every sunday basta per level may 30 hours....masuwerte ka pag napunta sa iyo yung mga magaling na spanish teachers...ksi may iba..hindi mo talaga sila maintindihan, hindi pa magaling mag-explainOriginally Posted by masterjedi

salamat po sa mga advice nyo and sa offers ng help! medyo excited na nga po akong pumasok sa monday...hehe...(typical frosh)! i hope i'll be able to pass the requirements for qualifying in the major...
pero di pa naman ganun katagal since i graduated...2004 lang naman un :P
miss ko na ang IS!
i'm from ISE originally but shifted to ISJ. di ako nakaabot sa grade requirement eh kasi di kasi ako pumapasok sa 1 class. nakakatulog kasi ako dahil sa prof...(oi pero di ako bumagsak don. haha defensive!)
in ISE you really neeeed to REEEEEEEEEAD REEEEEEEEEEAD and REEEEEEEEEEAD . cannot stress that enough. let's see...the usual 50-page handout times 3. normal lang un. hehehe so you gotta love reading AND thinking. puro paperwork dito. ihanda nyo na wallet nyo para sa pag pphotocopy...magiging tambay kayo ng library. lalo na sa EDRC (or minsan ASRC).
andon pa kaya sina kuya allan and jhun? bait *** 2 un. si kuya jhun sa EDRC minsan masungit. pero makulit and mabait.![]()
i wonder...bumalik na ba si ms. nikki briones and sir gan? da best sila. may pagka b*tch si ms. nikki at times pero mabait din naman. si sir gan din kala mo seryoso. pero mabait and medyo may kakulitan din hehehe. sila ang best teachers don! magaling talaga sila mag turo
as for work naman...well. i have to admit nahihirapan ako. minsan (well, ngayon, madalas) sinasabi ko sa sarili ko na sana di ako nag IS. super broad kasi ng subject. i mean parang general course lang sya. hay. pero i think aside from being diplomats, ambassadors and working in embassies and call centers, pwede ka mag patuloy sa law...(international law, for example. may subject pa ba na ganon?
anyway, welcome to IS! good luck sa inyo!![]()

hindi ko pa po alam kung macecredit yun kasi frosh pa *** po ako...although my friend from my spanish class who studied in dlsu told me that the classes in instituto are more advanced and easy compared to the one taught in dlsu..Originally Posted by masterjedi
ayun po...glad to be of help...![]()
^^thanks po. as i mentioned in my previous post, balak ko kumuha ng MA in ISE sa dlsu. pwede magstart sa 2nd term?kasi nung naginquire ako last april, tapos na daw ang admission para sa 1st term nila so balak ko itry nxt term na lang kung pwede pa.. so mas mabilis pala ako matututo ng spanish sa instituto..hehehehe thanks po uli sa reply!
sheherazade: hanngang ilang level ba sa instituto? kung level 5 ka na, ***** fluent ka na tlaga..hehehe if I want to finish all those levels, how much would i have to spend ? and is it guaranteed that I can acquire fluency in spanish or at least a respectable level of conversational spanish?
Misty_Eyed> ako rin e, graduate din ng 2004. Miss ko nga si Sir Ed e. Si Ms Nikki pa yata e nasa singapore taking her PhD e.Originally Posted by Misty_Eyed

kailangan talaga pinaparami mo yung vocabulary mo...kasi yun yung kulang sa akin so far...alam ko yung mga conjugation ng mga verbs sa iba'ibang tenses but i have to consult a dictionary first to translate yung action word na gusto kong gamitin na nasa infinitive form doon...ayun..hirap nga sa bahay eh..di gaanong makapagpractice orally kasi walang nakakaintindi!![]()
level 1-5 beginner...level 6-10 intermediate...level 11-14 advanced..level 15-18 expert...i heard sa isang dati kong kaklase na ngayon daw kahit matapos mo yung let's say..lv1-5 hindi ka pa rin makakapunta sa next phase - advanced without taking a test..at saka usually naman after at the end of each level may written at oral test kayo!....
base sa experience ko...i could at least carry on simple conversation and ask simple questions using basic words din...kasi sa beginner tinuturo nila yung talagang very common na ginagamit ng mga spanish...tinaturo talaga rin nila yung gingamit sa specific situations..like ordering food in a restaurant...introducing yourselves...asking and giving directions...buying something...and many more applicable to the usual daily activities....tapos yung mga tenses for present, past, past perfect etc. ...and that's just for beginners![]()
to learn more info...why don't you visit the official website of Instituto Cervantes de Manila: http://manila.cervantes.es/
i hope i was able to be of help![]()
Aahh, so true. Last week we were assigned 114 pages' worth of readings for Introduction to Global Society that were only discussed in one lesson. Plus, we have writing assignments for Critical Thinking and Introduction to Sociology every week.Originally Posted by raine18

I'm also thinking about enrolling in German or Italian language classes at Goethe or Dante Alighieri. Since we'll be having Spanish or French (I'm taking up the latter) lessons next year, why not study other Euro languages?
...Or should I enroll in Alliance instead to further enhance my French, since the French classes, as CoolCucumber said, will be insufficient?

@Citizen Erased: Make up your mind as to which language you want to focus on. Embassies won't hire you unless you're fluent in their language.
Yung iba nasa bangko, call center, outsourcing firms, med rep, etc.
Guys, there are lots of scholarships available. Check out embassies of small countries because they might be offering those.
Tip: get a classified ads page and check out the qualifications needed to be in UN or other organizations. You will notice that they're looking for sociology grads most of the time. Don't hope too much for working at embassies because you have to remember that: 1) They only employ limited number of people and 2) You're not the only ones taking up IS. Note that Ateneo, Lyceum, UP, etc also offer this course.
