you can also shop at the Ueno street "market." discounted chocos and original perfumes na 3500 yen lang... take a stroll at Ueno Park na din... you can also visit Ginza... ganda ng building ng Sony dun.

If you want to go to Osaka/Kyoto and not spend too much, take the overnight JR Bus (5000 yen). Leaves Shinjuku station at 10 or 11 p.m. and arrives Kyoto at around 6 am.

    1. Shinjuku - it's a shopping district and office district din.. malapit lang dito ang Mayor's office. Free umakyat sa building na yun to have a glimpse of Mt Fuji. Malapit din dito ang Meiji Shrine. Sa mga gays, Shinjuku ni-chome (2nd block) is a gay district. I'm gay kaya alam ko at dun ako tumatambay during Friday night. Accessible both subway and JR lines.

    2. Asakusa - andito yung Asakusa shrine. Meiji shrine is for Shintoism while Asakusa is for Budhism. Accessible using subway train, wala atang JR lines train dun.

    3. Ropongi - andito and Hard Rock cafe at Tokyo Tower. Accessible using subway train only.

    4. Ginza - Malapit lang to sa Ropongi. Eto yung high end fashion shopping district dito. Ang parlor nila will cost 50000 Yen (25000 pesos). Mostly buildings lang to.

    5. Akihabara - this is the electronic shopping district nila. Try mong tumawad at just show your passport para walang tax. Dont miss this place kahit wala kang bibilhin...

    6. Ueno - pede na to lakarin from Akihabara. Nakakatuwa din tingnan yung mga nagtitinda on how they bargain their items.. be there and you'll see hehehe.. Lagi kami dito dati kasi may Filipino store kasi dito.

    7. Tokyo Disney Compound (Disneyland, Disneysea at may mall din dito, forgot the name) - Actually, di na to sakop ng Tokyo kasi Chiba prefecture na to. Yung boundary kasi is the Edogawa-ku river in front ng Disney. Just living on the other side of the river before.

    8. Yokohama - Landmark tower (tallest in Japan and one of the fastest elevator in the world). 1000 yen ata ang entrance. sa baba andun na ang Yokohama Hard Rock at sa tapat may amusement park din.

One day trip lang to. So amazing talaga dun.

    10. Sunshine City - forgot the district name kung saan to located basta dulo to ng isang subway line. hehehehe.. Acquarium lang meron dito... di masyadong worth it.

    12. Odaiba - you will have a glimpse of Rainbow Bridge. Not subway, not JR.

    14. Tokyo Dome - hahaha, in my one year stay sa Japan, di ko talaga to navisit hehehe.. may amusement park din sa tabi nito.

    http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/

i don't know what station Mercur Ginza is so i typed Narita Airport to Ginza and got these:

heto pinakamura at 1160 yen pero pinakamatagal:

very helpful ang website na iyan, jan ako nag survive hehe. and always bring a map with you with the train routes. connected naman lahat yan, you just need to find out the directions and transfers. have fun!

Day 2 - (Sunday) we dont know pa
    Day 3 - Disneyland
Day 4 - DisneySea (im not sure kung advisable na 2 days straight) pwde ba gamitin yung 2 day pass on different theme park).
    Day 5 - Mt Fuji
    Day 6 - no idea
    Day 7 - no idea

    thanks in advance
Yup, we used a two-day pass for Disneyland one day, and DisneySea the other. I see you've changed your mind on Disney, but from my experience, if you can spend only one day for a Tokyo Disney park, it depends on who's going. If you have kids with you, go to Disneyland, but if it's an adult crowd looking for thrilling rides, go to DisneySea.
I've also been wanting to check out the Ikspiari mall outside. We took the JR train to Disneyland (Maihama station, and as soon as you stop, there's Disney music blaring in the station and Mickey Mouse et al on the walls ), but many hotels in Tokyo offer shuttles to Disneyland.
Caveat though: Narratives are ALL in Japanese, so we couldn't understand anything. That's why I'm not even bothering to go to Universal Studios anymore when I go to Osaka next month.

Free WiFi is hard to get by in Japan, because everyone uses mobile Internet on their phones—that's why I was considering renting a mobile WiFi router from SoftBank.

Already here in Japan and enjoying the fine weather. We will be joining an organized tour at Mt. Fuji. Akala ko di ako makakapag-internet ng libre, good thing nagdala ko ng netbook at nanghiram ako ng cable sa hotel frontdesk, thank you fellow pexters sa tip.....hmmm...ang mahal mamasyal dito ha.

Oh my, I didn't realize how lucky I was to have used the Yurikamome everyday for a year when I studied back in Tokyo. And I lived in Odaiba.

I have several notes of this important year in my life: check out -

Hello guys, how much kaya ang recommended pocket money if you tour in Osaka [only] for 1 week, excluding accomodation? and is it good to visit Japan in winter months like dec-jan?

  11. #2751
food in japan costs 700-1400 yen per meal (350-700 pesos), train fare is at least 200 yen (100 pesos), bottled water 120 yen (60 pesos), do the math!

dec-january is nice if you love extra cold weather.

  12. #2752
Thansk purplehead and illumina for the infos.

Id like to try authentic TOKOYAKI and OKONOMIYAKI. Tokyo, Disneyland and Mt Fuji kami for our 1 week stay next month sa tokyo. Still backreading, ill ask some question na lang pag may naalala pa ako.

    Salamat!

  13. #2753
well i'm sure meron naman yan. btw, most of the hotels pwede inuman ang water sa gripo nila. tanong ka na lang sa front desk.

  14. #2754

nope, it's not New York! It's Odaiba!

  15. #2755
    hi purplehead,

question ulit, where can i buy prepaid sim or prepaid phone in japan?

if id only in tokyo i can just buy the tokyo metro card 2 day pass right? tapos join na lang ako ng tour group paputang mt fuji? i dont need to use 2 day pass (tokyo metro) if id be staying in disney overnight?

    thanks

  16. #2756
^ no idea, sorry. i never got to try any of those. kung saglit ka lang naman sa tokyo what do you need a prepaid sim for? kung may roaming ka yun na lang.

btw, yung metrocard di mo ata pwede gamitin sa JR lines so baka sayang din lang. i'm not so sure though. the only day pass i got to try buying was the one day yurikamome pass for odaiba hehe.

bottled water by the gallon and softdrinks in 1.5 containers are available in convenience stores and supermarkets. the cheapest 2L bottle of water is around 98 yen.

you can try Gindako for takoyaki, though any takoyaki shop that has a long line of locals waiting for their order is worth a try. I can't really recommend any particular Okonomiyaki place, though the type/specialty does differ with each city/area, so it might be worth checking out several places.
