Best Broadband for 1000 pesos and below?

We're thinking of getting a broadband connection by the end of the year. Any suggestions for subscritions less than 1000 bucks? What are the common complaints with regards to PLDT myDSL 999 plan? Is the Bayantel plan at 899 pesos (192 kbps?) any good? How about Globe? Is it available in a lot of areas?

I don't know if this would be a factor but we currently have a PLDT landline. And for some reason, we rarely get anything above 44bps since we switched to PLDT a few months ago. We used to get 48-52 bps from Eastern. Also, we reside in a condominium in Manila. Will that affect our speed/connection in ay way? What hardware would we need before we get connected? We're quite ignorant when it comes to broadband connections.

you need a LAN card/ethernet card/network interface card... then thats it

bayantel maganda...no complaints whatsoever... kung may mangyari man sa connection mo ok tech support nila..not unlike pldt...maghihintay ka ng himala para maayos

Anong brand ang ok na LAN card and how much?

Kailangan pa ba ng Bayantel line para sa Bayantel DSL?

i'm using smart wi-fi. 988pesos monthly. 256kbps. ako lang talaga ang mejo hindi marunong sa technicalities ng mga broadbands kaya nung first time namen mejo magulo. hehehe. pero so far okay naman. naka-router kme so three computers ang may internet ngayon. right now, all three of us (magkakapatid eh) are using the comps. walang problem sa connection. masaya pa din. i'm even downloading stuff pa ngayon.

I would suggest SkyDSL (Bayantel) since they provide the most reliable connection. You don't need a Bayantel line but inquire first if your area is covered. I think you have to pay a higher installation fee if you're using a non-Bayantel line though.

Just called Bayantel DSL. Since we don't have a Bayantel line (although we have SKY cable), the installation fee would amount to around 1995 pesos.

They're not even sure if our area, Sampaloc, Manila; is covered and in fact asked me to check for any Bayantel phone line subscribers near us. Something about checking the serial numbers/ omac/ whatever. Ugh. Does that mean that I have to do the legwork?

^From my side of thinking, i think they should do all the work. They have the technology so why not check it for the customer?

The general broadband picture is still the same, which means getting PLDT MyDSL and Smart Bro(ken) is a really bad idea. Someone recently reviewed all the popular broadband services, it should be around page 2 or 3 in the forum.

I am using PLDT MyDSL and ok naman. But a friend of mine is now subscribing to SKY DSL and says that the perfomance is much better and P800+ lang.

  17. #17
I bought a LAN card at compex.
    10/100 mbps

    price?

    195

    it's still working, btw. hahaha

  18. #18
faaip_de_oiad, nothing surprising. The cheapest LAN cards cost that much; in fact that's the cost of my LAN card too
