Ang gwapo talaga ng asawa ko. What's that fone he's using? An 8810?

Career earnings nya close to $2M na yata because of the US Open (whoa, $800k!), his 1st grand slam title. What I remember from his matches are the Tennis Masters Series: Hamburg-Finalist but lost to Guga, Toronto-Champion (his 1st one, as far as I know, where he defeated Sampras in the quarters and Levy in the finals). He had a terrible season last year, having only 5 wins, and he even thought of retiring.

Marat and Anna Kournikova know each other since they're young. They were in the same tennis club and are good friends.

Marat played a lot when he was in Spain with Juan-Carlos Ferrero, they know each other very well.

Madonna put Marat in her Top 10 of men that she would like as the next father of her child.

Marat is called "Tatar" by his friend Yevgeni Kafelnikov. (because he's tatar!)

Sister's girlfriend of Marat is Christina Torrens-Valero, a professional tenniswoman seeded 73th.

For Marat, the best match of his career was the one during Roland Garros in 1998, when he beat Andre Agassi whereas he was a qualifier. Now, one of his best matches is the first time he beat Pete Sampras in the Masters Series of Toronto, in August 2000.

Marat broke 48 rackets in 1999. (Poor innocent rackets !)

During the final in Hamburg against Gustavo Kuerten in May 2000, Marat was always talking and smiling to Alexander Volkov, his friend who replaced Andrei for this tournament, and who was sitting in front of Marat. He didn't give him advices but just the results of a hockey match which was at the same time ! (That was for relaxing him !)

Marat likes playing video games and golf.

The professionals already say that Marat's sister, Dinara Safina will be the N°1 of tennis !

Marat says joking that in the future, he will be more famous as Dinara's brother.

During the French Open, in June 2000, robbers introduced into his hotel room and stole some french, italian, and american money, a wallet and a cellular phone. The damage happened between 2a.m and 3a.m whereas Marat was sleeping !!! (He should be very tired ! Something could happened to him, poor Marat !) Of course, Marat deposited a complaint.

Since Roland Garros, Andrei Chesnokov (his former coach) has no more news about Marat, who changed his cellphone number.

Kaya pala lagi nya natatalo si Ferrero. Pero naman, bute pa si Marat may Grand Slam title na eh mas matagal na si Kournikova as a professional tennis player... labo. Ano kaya yung ibig sabihin ng Tatar? Does anyone speak Russian here?

Ang alam ko rin pala is that Marat changes his coach depending on the court surfaces. So ang nangyari: Chesnekov=clay courts, Volkov=hard courts.
