Wink Creative zen 5gb or iPod nano (4gb?)?

Hi guys! I've never been techie or a gadget freak, but I've been wanting to get a decent mp3player for a while now, and am eyeing those two particular brands/models mentioned above.

I think price-wise they cost around the same, so I'd appreciate your opinions regarding which unit to get based on features, encountered problems, useability, etc.

Some info I've gotten already are:

    Creative
    -has FM
-might be hard to get repaired because of lack of repair centers

    iPod
-has problems playing some mp3s that do play on the pc
-easy to find support for the hw/sw
    -no FM

    Thanks in advance!

if you want an easy to use yet cool looking mp3 player then get the nano, but if you're looking for an mp3 player that has more features like fm then get something else.

imo, get the one that meets your need in an mp3 player or lifestyle... yes, other brands may be cheaper and has more features but if you're having a hard time in using it then it's money not spent wisely.

the gadget/technology should fit your lifestyle and needs and not the other way around because that is why you're buying one in the first place.

i have both. uhm the Zen Micro sounds better then the Nano, has FM, voice recording, and glows blue alright. the problem with it is the following:
    1) the earphone jack can tends to get loose. and it's unrepairable
    2) the scroll pad. either you get usd to it, or you won't love it at all.
    3) hard drive based so when i bring it in the gym my music skips.

the Nano has a good form factor, but easier to lose than the Micro because of its size. the player is flash based meaning no moving parts so your music won't skip. the scroll wheel is tops and very easy to use, the design is innovative and very simple, and yeah - you'll find support for hw/sw easily. it looks fragile but actually built tough.. just don't scratch it coz it will show easily. what i don't like about it:
    1) you need iTunes to transfer music in it. (i prefer drag and drop)
    2) it has no FM or voice recording capabilities out of the box
    3) the sound isn't too good (we audiophiles notice this difference when compared to sony or creative jukeboxes)
    4) scratches easily

I enjoy using both and I use them on different occasions.

    Happy choosing.

nasasa iyo yan! kung sa tingin mo maganda yang Creative eh di bilhin mo. considering yun ata gusto mo. besides, if an ipod is something you're afraid to use, then no need to get it.

i just hate it to hear people complain about something they bought and not able to use it. why bother in the first place.

Kung gusto mong magmukang sosyal mag Ipod ka, pero kung ako tatanungin, ayoko nang Ipod.

    My experience with Ipod Shuffle:

Powered by AAA batts kahit on the go, pwede palitan yung baterya o bumili sa mga convinient stores, o bumili nalang ng rechargable /w charger 4pc Nimh AAA battery for more life. Tapos copy mo lang sa muvo yung mp3/wma files mag-p-play na tapos walang arte.

That's not the case. You can buy a separate USB power adapter to charge the Shuffle away from a PC.

i heard ang iPod nano mas madaling masira saka napaka fragile niya yong creative im not sure, mukha naman okay. but if you really want a decentmp3 player i guess mas okay kung iPod talaga. battery wise, may naririnig ako na 1 year lang ang itatagal ng internal battery ng iPod pero in my own experience mag 1 year na iPod ko ganon pa din yon bat life niya. ska yon pag transfer ng songs, hindi naman hassle, kase automatic na na-convert yon mp3 mo into iTunes.i guess depende din yan kung san mo bblin and nasa pag aalaga lang yan goodluck sa pag pili

    i'd choose the nano

true it scratches easily, but you can just buy a casing for it. other than that, it's pretty durable. and since it's flash-based, your music is intact and you won't experience any skipping.

i would highly advise you to play with an actual working unit before making your decision. comparing the ipod click wheel with the zen micro's interface, for me the click wheel is the undisputed winner. there's a reason why the ipod is so popular. other than stylish looks, it is really easy to use.

anyways, that's just my personal opinion. just go for what you want. as long as you're happy with it

    Hi, thanks for the replies!

Aww, so if you're jostled, the music skips on creative?

For iPod, the iTunes means that you have to convert the mp3 format to another format first before the player can read it? Does it take long to do that?

    Magtataho, yeah I wanted to see the actual model nga, but when we went to Abenson's in gbelt they don't have a working actual creative zen, I'm not sure for the ipod, pero I think what they show lang are casings, so you can't get a real feel for the gadget. We asked if they can open some, but they said we have to buy it if we open the package ^^;
