can somebody please tell me what the book is about? please? and why everybody's crzy over Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

it's a children's book right? eh bakit super ganda?

    Thumbs up

I just picked up "Harry Potter and the Sorcerre's Stone" because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I think I'm hooked already and I'm just barely on the sixth chapter! I had it in my hands as I walking up to campus today. Good thing the cars didn't crash into me as I was crossing the street.

Folks, isn't it interesting to note that Rowling was a struggling mother when she first started writing Harry Potter? (And on a napkin at some fast food joint, mind you!) Now her HP books are everywhere!

For those who don't want, or can't afford to, purchase the Potter series, why not borrow from the library? It's free!

leelayce: Harry Potter is categorized under children's books, yes. I think most adults find it as a good escape to some magical reverie. (I just found out that my new boss in on the second novel! )It's a book that can help you unwind from the toil and troubles of the day and become Harry Potter himself, meeting wonderful people, going to magical places, and being special. I think we could all relate to the hero one way or another. He was a simple boy who lived with an aunt and uncle who didn't appreciate, and cousin who beat him up every chance he got. Then one magical day, on his birthday actually, he realizes that he's more special than anyone, including him, ever gave him credit for. The novels, I believe, are about his magical adventures. Pick it up some day when you get the chance.

hermione: Really? Well now, I guess I'll be excited to see how Hollywood turns this novel around! Who knows? Maybe they might stay true to the original story. Do you know if JK Rowling herself is involved with the movie? And the 6th Sense kid! Whoa. I think he's a little cutie!

Wow sikat na pala sa Pilipinas si Harry Potter! It's a good thing that it's picking up now here. I'm a real bookworm and I ordered the first 3 Harry Potter books at Barnes and Noble early this year out of curiosity cuz I kept reading about it online, and was hooked! Never thought a children's book could be this interesting. I still have to get the 4th one, but my favorite is the 3rd - The Prisoner of Azkaban. Yun 2nd - Chamber of Secrets - is kinda slow paced for me compared to the 1st and 3rd. JK Rowling indeed has a wonderful imagination and a good writer, for a plain housewife. The Harry Potter series will definitely be a classic, like those Dr. Seuss books!

I suggest you get the hardbound copy - the paper's nice and all, lalo na yun cover. It'll last you longer. And you can let your kid read it in the future, hehehe. Medyo mahal nga, pero it's definitely worth it. Pareho lang naman ang price nya sa US eh.

And for those who havent read it, do it chronologically para hindi nakakalito magbasa.

by the way, when's the fifth book coming out?

For those who read up to the 4th book, are you seeing a potential love triangle emerging? Harry-hermione-Ron.

fanfiction.net has quite a lot of HP fanfiction. There are H & H fans and there are H&R fans, oh boy.

Personally, I think Hermione just adores Harry and has a lot of respect for him. I think she's too unconventional a girl, to be just hoodwinked in a typical girl-boy relationship.

i'll ask again..how old are all of you?? coz i'm 21..and it was such an enjoyable read... bought all the 4 books... and the 5th one is next year pa...the torture...anyway..jave you heard that J.K.R. is being sued...some lady wrote about a LARRY POTTER and a band of MUGGLES about ten years ago.. and she's suing for intelectual property rights or sumting...weird...but the book is way too excellent. for thos who havent read it...why should you?? because it will bring you back to the times when you always thought of casting magic and living in a fantasy world... it tickles your imagination so much that you can imagine living in the place and time...and PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE IS JUST WAY TOO COOL AS A MENTOR..kinda like professor X or some really great father figure. hehe... and hermione is pronounced as HER-MI-O-NEE pala. not HER-MI-YON. sa fourth book ko lang nalaman...hehe

and yeah "hermione" is pronounced as "her-maa-yo-nee". there's this website you can go to, there are quizzes and trivia on HP. it's really cool, and this website where you can get to hear the real pronounciation of words like "quidditch", "gringotts", etc.

I guess the books aren't just for kids! I know kids (mga age 11-14) who love the series, but imagine even my 33-year-old brother is now reading them? Sad to say, I'm still waiting for my turn! Nakapila pa kaming lahat! Dati pa ako naintriga dyan kaso I thought din for kids siya...I should've gotten them before when I saw them in Powerbooks! Now I wanna get my own copies na rin so I can read them na! (Kakahiya I'm the only one nalang yata who hasn't read them...)
