Loved it! I've finished The Sorcerer's Stone and I just started The Chamber of Secrets. Like I mentioned in a previous post, Harry Potter's world is magical and the books chronicle it in a very witty and imaginative manner. It was fascinating to be introduced to this new world of wizards and witches and unicorns and ghosts. The sharp humor and spirited adventures make for an entertaining and engrossing read. Little Harry's bravery is inspiring---so much heart in a scrawny little child. His relationship with his muggle family is a caricature of sorts but then again, this is also children's literature, where no stepmother is kind.
I've read the first Harry Potter book and it's quite good. The humor is quite witty. It reminds me of that Roald Dahl book, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (which I highly recommend =Þ).
I liked The Sorcerer's Stone as well!! Although sometimes I couldn't help but wonder how 11-year olds could have so much wit and courage as Harry, Ron and Hermione... pero towards the end, natakot talaga ako, ha! For about ten minutes I had to keep the lights on before sleeping.
I've only read the first one, The Sorcerer's Stone and I really, really enjoyed it! I can't wait to read the next one...meron na bang soft cover nung ibang Harry Potter?
Sorry, I don't know if they're already out in paperback. My copies are hardbound.
I've just finished reading Harry Potter. I loved being in Hogwarts...I was actually dreaming of going there myself (if there was such a place) that was how great the author did in carrying me away in her fantasy land. Harry Potter is a nice book not just for kids but those who'd want to be a kid once in a while.![]()
I'm almost done with the first book and am enjoying it tremendously. Can't wait to read the next book!
i've finished reading the first book and it was raelly good.
i couldn't think just how it could have been a childrens book.
anyway it was really good, all the hype it got from the critics were really true.
are soft covers already available for the next two boks???
I heard that the second book is in softcover, but the third is still in hard cover. My friend told me that the fourth book will be out in July. Not sure if this will be also in the Philippines.
I asked around in Powerbooks Alabang and the girl there told me that the paperback copies of the 2nd and 3rd of the series were due during the 1st week of April--and I went there on the 3rd week of April.
She probably meant the first week of May but it's not yet thereI enjoyed the book but not so much that I'm willing to shell out P600+ for a hardback

really?? the chamber of secrets is out on paperback already? COOL! harley quinn! lend me your hardbounds naman!![]()
i really enjoyed the harry potter series (all 3 books)! there's a 4th one that will be released this summer yata in the U.S. and you can pre-order your copies from the 'net (like amazon.com)
when i was a kid i also enjoyed books such as these: i remember reading "the lion the witch and the wardrobe", and also the enid blyton books (anyone remember those)? i particularly liked the fact that these books didn't treat the reader like a "kid" and instead trusted the reader to comprehend the story despite the vocabulary, plot twists, and issues involved.![]()
well, i've read the 1st and 3rd book. the fourth book was just released yesterday and the orders were overwhelming. Harry Potter might be classified under children's literature but there's just something in it (probably the magic) that makes me want to read on. Rowling's imagination is impressive. my favorite is the game called quidiche (spell check please). so does anybody here share this interest?
i havent finished reading teh harry potter book i like but i heard great reviews about it. im reading harry potter and the prisoner of azkhaban.
p.s
do you like roald dahl too?![]()
Oo nga, Harry Potter is really expensive!
naiintriga ako sa Harry Potter..since Im a teacher and kids are really into it i want to know more about it..
I like Ronald Dahl...
I want the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones. Kaya lang wala akong pera.
Not just for kids, everyone. It's a really fun book to read.
