the silence of the lambs was a pretty good movie...it remained pretty much faithful to the book...
so did the excorcist and it's true sequel, the exorcist 3...the book from which the exorcist 3 was based on is Legion.
angela's ashes is good both as a book and a movie. the movie was able to retain the important scenes as well as the wit, tone, tragedy, and hope of it all.![]()
The English Patient - loved both book and movie adaptation, although the book is so much more complicated than the movie.
Outbreak - not much difference, but I wish Spacey's character survived
I'm sure there's more, but I don't remember at the moment.![]()
Emma Thompson did a wonderful job of writing a screenplay for Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen's classic novel. I believe she won an Oscar for that screenplay. The movie starring Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet was excellent as well.

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby... I liked the book & the movie was just as funny....![]()
*bump *
Most of the Stephen King stories that have been made into movies lack the detail which the book clearly portrays. You're not able to know the thoughts of the characters, unless it is said out loud or if it is seen well enough in the faces of the characters. This would need good actors, but most of these are B-movies, so facial emotions are most likely to be unseen. If you don't believe me, read the book then watch the movie, and you'll see what I mean. But if you really want to appreciate Stephen King's works, I would suggest that you stick with the original material.![]()
Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice
Later this year...
Bridget Jones's Diary The Movie will be out soon. Hopefully, the movie does justice to the book. I read a good review of the movie in Time magazine specifically praising Renee Zellweger for her portrayal of Bridget Jones. I'm planning to watch the movie. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed.
most of the classic novels have been turned into movies.

my personal favorite is little women... i loved the both movie and the book, although mas naiyak talaga ako sa book

The English Patient. That book rocks. I've never been able to sit straight through the movie though. (just too damn long) It was alright but the book is better.
les miserables...iba yung book version sa 1998 film version with liam neeson and claire danes and uma thurman. i prefer the book.
What about GREAT EXPECTATIONS? This is a fabulous movie!!! One of my favorites!
I heard some mixed reviews about the movie version starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke. Some like it, some didn't. As for me, I liked it a lotOriginally posted by Ain
