@donutboy i'm currently with Sinhia Bahia de Capoeira but was formerly training with Escola Brasiliera de Capoeira. I've been training with SBC for a year now and with EBC for roughly a year too I think.

I haven't checked out SBC yet but I always wanted to. Do they welcome people from other schools?
Yes they do! As I mentioned I transferred from EBC to SBC. There are a couple other guys who also transferred. Just a fair reminder if you are training with any other school please get the approval of your previous master to avoid conflicts.
I for one normally inform our mestre if I want to visit EBC and play with them. It's a sign of respect to the master and his school.
I agree. Infact, our mestre is really promoting us to visit other schools which is cool. I think my mestre is more into how we experienced the training with other schools and how we played in the roda.
The reason I asked if SBC welcomes people from other schools is because some schools don't let people from other schools train with them though they can go play in the roda.
By the way, how many capoeira schools do we have in the Philippines?
The last time I've checked there's 4 formal groups based in Manila.
Sinha Bahia de Capoeira(Mestre Torpedo) - Manila and Cebu
Escola Brasiliera de Capoeira(Professor Fantasma) - Manila and Bacolod
Capoeira Angola(ECAMAR)(Mestre Roxinho/Besouro) - Manila
Capoeira Senzala(Professor Parabolica) - Bacolod
Obrigado graveangel.
Update from Sinha Bahia de Capoeira for those who are interested in trying the art.
Capoeira is a traditional Brazillian martial art, disguised in a beautiful dance form. Experience capoeira regional in this FREE introductory workshop by Sinha Bahia de Capoeira
Capoeira is a traditional Brazillian martial art, disguised in a beautiful dance form. Capoeira is played with music using instruments such as the berimbau, atabaque, pandeiro, and agogo. The many aspects of the martial art include samba dance rhythms and the use of wooden sticks called maculele, which is reminiscent of the Filipino martial art arnis. Thus, capoeira encourages creativity while developing strength and flexibility. Its flamboyance further makes the training usually loud and fun.
Sinha Bahia de Capoeira would like to share the capoeira experience to anyone who is interested to learn. We are offering a free introductory workshop this summer, on May 19, 2PM at Shangrila Mall, Edsa Shaw. THIS IS FOR FREE FOR EVERYONE AND ANYONE!
This workshop will introduce beginners to the basic movements of capoeira such as kicks, escapes, and even easy acrobatic moves. You might want to try it for fitness, to cross-train with, to learn a bit of Portugese, to meet new friends, or just to do something different with your buddies on the weekend. Wear comfortable clothes, bring drinking water and a small towel.
WE ALSO HAVE FREE SAMBA AND ZUMBA CLASS!
SEE YOU THERE!!!!

I was wondering if anyone knows of any venue in Ortigas/Pasig where I can practice capoeira moves outside of training sessions. The house I live in is cramped and aside from a small backyard, there isn't any other available space. I could train barefoot there but I imagine that might be difficult for some moves. I was thinking along the lines of something like a dance studio where students/users can to walk in and use the space as needed for a fee. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
you'll probably end-up looking for a dance studio. as for us training with Sinha Bahia de Capoeira we normally go to Club 650. I personally go there to train even if there's no class but the thing is that the front desk knows the students so they allow the to use the mats.
