My point is he was really really overated. Why because he belongs to the gsm franchise where there were a lot of overrated players like Hizon.. It was Marlou who made him look good, and the female fans were the ones who made him famous.. Even back in the Uaap, without Espino and Evangelista, he would have never made his mark.

I know you're a PureFoods backer, Pumaren was miles away from David during that time,David was a good scorer but Pumaren or the Flying A is what a good point guard really is.

Yeah your right in some way.. But not to take anything away from the good player Marlou (1st 4 years of his playing), Bal contributed to the latter's rise also... The same with Noli Locsin, especially in the late 90's influx of taller filams it was bal's nifty passing that gave marlou and noli easy baskets although not as effective as johnny a... Saka may kahati sa oras si bal eh, remember pido? unlike johnny and dindo talagang sila ang main orchestrator.

Lastly, Bal is one of the top reasons why the La Tondena franchise (Gordon's Gin Boars that time) won the 1997 commissioner's cup title... Remember their sudden death match vs. San Miguel during that year? Whoever wins that match will meet the defending champs Alaska Milkmen... And why did I say Bal is one of the reasons, here we go. That particular match vs. SMB, Chris King import of gordon's is the only player doing the damage for the Boars. The skyscraper, the tank and even the Prince were nowhere to be found... It was Bal giving King a lending hand in offense... It was Bal who send the game into an extra 5 mins. and yes he did some damage also in that particular overtime session... Without than overtime win over SMB, the crowd favorites could not have runaway with the title...

Common guys, let's give those players the credit they rightfully deserved. I admit Bal is not in the same calibre as johnny but he did gave him along with Magsanoc(when was still in Shell) and dindo some scary moments and a run for their money during the Flash's prime...

    peace i'm out.

ano kinalaman ng pagiging purefoods fan ko kay bal david? im just paying tribute to bal david's career...

Tigerman: Bal will never be remembered in the same breath as Johnny A or Olsen Racela. He was good at times, but not great. He didnt even unseat or came close to Johnny A's capabilities. After Johnny, the next great PG was Olsen. Not Bal. Bal had his moments, but he wasnt the great PG that you think he is.

Dude I figured that since you're a PureFoods fan, you must know how underrated Dindo Pumaren was during his playing days with the PF franchise, how he was a better court general than the very erratic and a bit inconsistent David.

Dude, in your previous statements, you "agreed" that David would have been one of the all time best..but the fact is even during his prime, he way behind the more capable and savvy point guards like the Flying A, Racela, Pumaren and even Gerry Esplana.

From what I remember right, Jarencio was used a number of times to close out games and that may be a clue why David was not as great as Abarrientos,,the fact that he was not entrusted as the main orchestrator (as you said he was) means a lot to how good he was as a "point guard".

Dude, from your statements above and how you call the Ginebra players by their monickers, you should really be a big David or La Tondena fan..and its really difficult to argue with die hard fans especially on this kind of a topic wherein we discuss and gauge how good a player really was..yes i give him a little credit (why not?) but bottom-line, he was one of the most overrated players in the league..and using your line of giving credit to whom it is due,,i believe there are a big number of players in the league who didn't get the credit they deserved even after they have retired..For me as a PBA fan for over a decade and a half, it's just frustrating to see players as average as David (as overrated as he is) to get much props compared to lesser known but effective players who are much better skilled and more hardworking but does not get that much attention or credit.

    PEACE!

As far as I know, Bal David suffered a serious knee injury in 2004. And when then-Ginebra coach Siot Tanquincen gave more playing time to Jayjay Helterbrand, doon natapos ang career ni Da Flash.

Isa sya sa big factor talaga and he's a crowd drawer talaga, lakas din ng charisma sa tao just like Jawo.

Nung mapanood ko sya uli sa deal or no deal, ang saya saya ko, kala ko nga sasama na sya ni Jawo sa pagbabalik nito sa PBA.. im still hoping for that.

I will never forget Bal until im living pa, he's the only player na love na love ko talaga, until now sobra.. Sobrang bait, sobrang humble, so funny rin and mahiyain pa. Kahit sikat na sya di pa rin *** nagbago talaga.

Sa ngayon he's so busy sa mga business nya, sana talaga makita ko uli si BAL.

    Love u idol Bal David.
