pt modalities along with other OTC will give temporary relief. you should do ur part also. u need to follow doctor's advice regarding stretching, proper posture, etc. if these does not relieve you symptoms u may need an orthosurgeon for further assessment and injection.
ask ko lang bakit sa clinics HMP and US (both are heating modalities but the latter is a deep heating modality) ang gamit as treatment sa MPS sa books na nabasa ko dapat Ice compress ang gamit ???
r u a PT student?... u should go back to the basic. HMP/HCP, US, and Ice (cryotherapy) helps in alleviating muscle spasm, although, ice helps in reducing edema and can cause muscle tension, it is also helpful in relieving muscle spasm. have you heard about the vapocoolant spray (spray n stretch technique) this is one example of cryotherapy used in treating MPS.
I agree, all the modalities you mentioned are for pain relief and relaxation of muscle, but according to the books I've read Cryotherapy (Cold therapy) is the primary treatment for MPS. The ff are the only PTMx mentioned for MPS... Cryotherapy, TENS, GPS and PRE's (calliet neck exercises source is calliet and braddom but I'm not sure about the latter). Walang HMP or US pero bakit ito ang ginagamit na management ng mga clinics.
could i apply cyrotherapy at home and how do i go about that? im sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I'm going to disagree with zetia... IMO if one treatment cant alleviate the pain you're feeling you should use alternative means
Cryotherapy means using cold modalities, I suggest that you use Cold compress sa painful part for 15 minutes. gamit po kayo ng ice bag or bili kayo ng ice compress sa mercury. wala bang prescribed meds (muscle relaxant) na binigay sayo?
PT po ba kayo ma'm Zetia?
mm. i never said that a patient should continue with the mgt that gives him no substantial relief. of course, if certain mgt is not working for the patient, the next step is to reassess and change the mgt. physicians always discuss the mgt, risks, alternatives, and failure of treatment. certain individual respond to certain mgt.I'm going to disagree with zetia... It depends. in this case, the cold therapy can either be beneficial or not. Further assessment by an ortho is necessary. They know what to do if rehab program is not working.Cryotherapy means using cold modalities, I suggest that you use Cold compress sa painful part for 15 minutes. gamit po kayo ng ice bag or bili kayo ng ice compress sa mercury. wala bang prescribed meds (muscle relaxant) na binigay sayo??

I concede... pero bakit kelangan pang i assess ng orthopedic surgeon ang case e napagaralan naman yan ng mga PT? yan nga ang specialization nila di ba? IMO if a patient wanted to have other opinion dapat sa physiatrist sila pumunta because they are the head of the Rehabilitation team.
Hi! Im new here, but I cant help noticing ur thread napansin ko kase most of the suggested cures were only symptomatic in nature ,may i go further in asking what type of medical practitioners have you seen regarding your problem and what were their professional opinions ?![]()
you guys sound so medical to me na talaga. Im stil in pain for 3 months now. Honestly, i dnt have much time for the therapy..you know the usual, tens, US...I always do the stretching exercise but its still here....Have u seen the flick SHUTTER? minsan feeling mo ganun na nangyayari sa aken..should i consult a physiatrist?

he didnt even say a word. basta MPS lang daw. then treatment...yun lang...
I had a massage yesterday and as the masseuse was working on my inner thighs and inner arms, the pain was unbearable! I asked the masseuse bakit masakit pag minamasahe niya and she told me "Lamig" daw ng muscles ko yon. Sabi nga nya ang kapal nga daw ng lamig and I had to go back again next week para matanggal niya completely ito.
My barbershop masseur also told me I had a "Lamig" near my shoulder blade. It was kind of a dull sore but it felt a pleasurable relief when he massages it.
What is "Lamig" and what causes it?
I don't even know the english term for it so I cant search it in Yahoo health or google.
lamig means fat na tumigas. parang lard, yata. pero di ko sure. pero astig. buti na open mo 'tong topic. i'm eager to know what lamig is.
one thing more, masarap manghilot mga barbero. miss ko na pinas. mas masarap pala magpahilot sa bulag.![]()
yeah interesting topic.
it's either i have 'lamig' or stress lang talaga.
^^
I asked my masseuse ano cause ng "Lamig" and she told me stress daw. Madalas daw yun mag occur sa shoulders pag stress related. You really have to have a high threshold for pain to have someone remove it by massage.
Another masseur told me "Lamig" is like the transparent tissue (like cartilege) surrounding the muscle. Like in chicken when you wash it, theres this transparent tissue between the skin and the muscle...that's the "Lamig" daw.
But that spot near my shoulder blade feels reallly good if found by a sensitive and motivated masseuse. Napapapikit ako sa saraaaappp!!!!
hmm. may upper back/shoulders are always in pain. i would do anything just to take that 'burden' off me.
although, i have very low tolerance for pain.![]()
heh, i also have very low tolerance tolerance to pain. lalo na kung pagibig. hahaha. i think i have 20% pain tolerance than any normal being. hey, don't get me wrong. i'm not into BDSM.
hilot? try niyo saken... sabi ng mom, aunt, at friends (girls) ko, masarap daw manghyilot kamay ko. hahaha, bente-bente...
I was laughing my a$$ off with these replies. These have got to be the funniest stuff I've read recently.![]()
Anyway, back to topic.
These are called muscle knots. What are they? Go google it.
