sabi sakin ng doctor ko, its best daw na u drink vitamins before you sleep..i forgot why pero ayun, whenever i wake up, i feel fresh na parang wala akong nararamdamang sakit or whatsoever.

nakakataba? depende na sa food intake mo yun, kung sobrang ganado ka na kumain or malamlay ka kumain because of the vitamins you take.

It's best to take vitamins before meals for optimum absorption. Also, consider taking multivitamins with minerals.

And no, vitamins won't make you fat, calories will.

wala namang calorie content ang vitamins...

    Alkaline Based Vit C?!

we know about ascorbic acid and vit c.. yet, i have this friend who offered me this new product, a vit c supplement from alkaline.

i have the product already, (my friend is a little persistent, and excited about it) with brochures and all, stating about the many benefits of alkaline based vit c supplement, with comparisons from ascorbic acid. (i dont want to believe those just yet, i know about marketing )

so, i just need confirmation from our resident doctors. im still a little hesitant to take it, or to even give to my folks, despite the BFAD approved seal..

who knows, anything and everything can be faked now.

(im not sure, if there's a similar thread/topic here, i used search function, and no result. kindly merge with related topic. thanks!)

alkaline vitamin C is still vitamin C.
and the truth is unless you are severely deficient in vitamin C, you would urinate the vitamin away everytime you go to the bathroom.
Its a waste of money in my opinion. Any vitamin C supplement is enough.

    vit c

Doctors here.... is it true na ascorbic acid daw ay nakakaputi or nakakaganda ng skin? Sabi kasi ng isang dermatologist na napanood ko sa tv, 1000mg of ascorbic intake a day.. puputi ka daw dun at gaganda ang skin. Is it true???

Im not aware of any studies on vitamin C and beautiful "white" skin.
Vitamin C aka ascorbic acid is an anti-oxidant. It does have protective effect on the skin. Im not sure about 1000mg thought. It sounds excessive and being a water soluble vitamin, your body takes whatever vitamin c it needs and throws the rest away.
However, i don't see any harm in using vitamin C. The only problem with 1000mg would be an upset stomach (due to its' acidity), but not all people experience that. Some whitening agents do use vitamin C but not as a tablet but rather as a cream or liquid to be applied directly to the skin. I don't know if it works though.

I do megadose of vitamin C when I feel that i will get sick (weather, stress etc), what my body doesnt need, it excretes anyway.

and yeah vitamin c is even better than coffee in removing a hangover.

    Regarding Vitamins Intake

Hi! Just wondering how would you know if the vitamins that I am taking is being absorb by my body? I noticed that when I take Enervon C vitamins, my urine is always color yellow. Is it a normal by-product of the vitamin?

    Thanks!

need advise on what to take...

Im currently taking Clusivol and 500mg Vitamin C combination everyday, im 5'7" 200lbs (overweight).

An Occupational Therapist advises me to take Heartvit and 1000mg Vitamin C every na lang instead of what Im taking right now.

Is this a good adivse, or could the kind doctors here suggest a better one.

    Thanks.

Please wait for the reply of the physicians.

Heartvit is a food supplement. No therapeutic claims have been attached to it. It is not curative (because if it was, it would say so on the label). Kung tunay siyang nakakagaling ng sakit, dapat ay nakasulat ito sa label ng bote ng gamot na ito.

If any of our physicians would like to correct me regarding Heartvit, please do. I don't mind.

For vitamin C, this might help:

The average protective dose of ascorbic acid for adults is 70 to 150 mg daily. While it is safe to take larger doses of vitamin C, very high doses can cause toxicity. Toxic dose would be regular, prolonged intake of vitamin C at 2 grams a day. Most common symptoms are stomach pains, cramps, too much gas, or diarrhea. Other effects include increased iron absorption, rebound scurvy, dental problems and hormone problems in women taking contraceptives. Excessive vitamin C intake may also rarely cause kidney stone formation.

I don't quite know where your friend got that idea, unless of course the pills are already old and have been exposed to light and air.

scarab: It's okay to take 1000 grams of vitamin C (overdose is prolonged intake of 2000 g/day), but sayang lang--you're only peeing out more than half of it away, anyway. Just take 250 mg a day, that is more than enough.

smilewarrior sorry for the separate thread.

so my intake of 500mg of Vitamin C is already excessive , ill wait for others to reply on what to take, thanks.
