    Cool

...i'm also mega-dosing a certain vitamin, not vit. C but the B5 vitamin (panthotenic acid)...B5 is also a water soluble vitamin kaya safe sya, i'm taking 10 grams a day, i.e. 20 tablets a day of 500 mg tablets...i'm doing this for my acne treatment, i've been doing it for four months now, and i can honestly say that my face is not an oil plantation anymore

...side effects ng B5 is mild diarrhea, but rarely, mga once a month lang...& my bowel movement is regular so everyday ako nag-pu-poo-poo that's a good thing though

hi doc question lang po about vit. C. totoo ba na bawal uminom ng vit C ng deretcho meaning if 3 months ka na nagvivitamin C, kelangan itigil muna for 1 month then tsaka ka ulit uminom kc naiimune ka na daw sa vit c and wala na daw effect if derederetcho and inom. thanx a lot

Huh? Where do all these beliefs come from?

There is no such thing as "immunity" to vitamins.

it's bad if you go for high dosage of vitamin c for months and stop it for a month, might cause scurvy if your body got used to it.

Huh? Says who? That's blatantly false.

    Tao po

Yup i take it regularly, especially with my case coz i work in a hospital, i take 500mg OD, they say that The RDA is only about 60mg, but due to stress, pollution etc... i think 500mg is ok.

    i guess...

i guess takig vit. c is necessary for us to have a healthy immune system...most especially to those people who work in exposed environment....but one thing i learned in taking up vit. c is that, don't take it when you have an illness...(a simple cough and colds may be included). because once you have taken it, you're not helping your immune system, but rather your pathogenic microorganisms inside your body to bloat and become healthy....maybe this post will help a little.... <(",)>

    Vitamin C

Note: It would be best to wait for Dr. Ira or eyedoc's reply.

There was a recent study i forgot where, Vitamin C is good for the skin. Also for pit / depressed scars and blemishes.

  12. #52
i do... 500 mg a day... good for your immune system... pati din sa skin, recommended sakin dati ng derma ko ang 1000mg ng vit c a day binawasan ko na nga lang kasi di nanaman ganun ka dami yung blemishes ng skin ko..

vit c din daw is good anti-stress...

  13. #53
Vitamin C is necessary for health but most fruits and vegetables already contain the necessary RDA. Overdosaging would not help, would just produce "expensive urine". Some studies even suggest that too much would even cause some problems.

  14. #54
doc, pde bang maging cause ng gall stones ang excessive vit c?

  15. #55
we need Vitamin C coz it's the best immune system booster.
But it should be natural Vitamin C. Synthetic Vitamin C's usually take the form of 250-500 mg tablets. But at any given time, our bodies can absorb only 60 mg of Vitamin C's at a time. Meaning to say, we should take them in small dosages. So what happens to the synthetic Vitamin C's? Only 60 mg gets absorbed by the body. some says that the rest gets stored in the kidneys as gallstones.

  16. #56
Some studies suggest that megadoses of vitamin C may cause kidney stone (not gallstones) . However, this is not universally accepted.

depedencies on vitamins, is it bad?

    Hi

I need to take vitamins daily, especially vitamin c. If i miss out for 3 straight days and stress myself out, i'll easily get sick

anyway, i'm only 23 years old so was wondering if it's okay at this age i'm already dependent to vitamins

    heard it's bad.

    thanks.

Vitamins should not be something you get physically addicted to. Maybe it's something psychological?

It's not exactly bad either. Not unless you're really substituting it for real food which should be your primary source of nutrients.

  19. #59
    hi eyedoc,

hmm.. kasi when i stop drinking vitamins, i'm really prone to getting a soar throat which in turn gives me a fever, this thing really happens to me.

  20. #60
    I think it's largely psychological.
