Yup beginner's class lang. Actually its more of an introduction to Balinese cooking. We didnt really get to cook everything ourselves from start to finish. I thought it was going to be like those cooking classes i see on tv/movies that each of you will have to prepare the dish on your own and you can compare how yours looks/tastes with the others.

There it was more of "chop these, okay thats good", "who wants to stir this?", "who wants to grind these peanuts?" "who wants to grill the chicken?".. that kind of cooking class. But for me, it was still a pretty good experience na sulit for the price, although its not the cheapest cooking class in Ubud you will find.

flying there this weekend with the family via PR.
think we're staying at royal bali-candidasa (timeshare).

from the looks of it we're going to do a lot of taxi rides.

has anyone tried the rent-a-car joints there?

We availed of a driver/guide in Bali, Nyoman Abe. He charged us 400,000IDR (about US$40 last year) for 10 hour drive anywhere (we actually went over 10 hours but he didn't charge us extra, including pick-up from the airport). Contact him thru http://abaditransport.wordpress.com/

Last week I was in Bali, via Palakbayan (PAL). smooth vacation... late flight out of Manila, and early arrival in Bali,. The package includes, airport pickup (both ways).

Once in bali, grab the many free brochures and start looking for the tours you want. We availed of two tours and it was a great experience. On our third day, we availed of their water sports... $30 dollars for parasail, jet ski, and banana boat. what can I say, it was very quick, parasail only last less than 5 minutes... banana boat around 5 minutes, and jet ski another 5 minutes.so dont expect a full ride..its like trial ride of those activities....

Do enjoy Bali...its a nice place to check out in Indonesia.

    am here at the moment.

already checked out pasir putih (white sandy beach), candidasa town, taman ayun, goa gajah, tanah lot, had dinner at jimbaran.

am billeted somewhere in the candidasa area (for some peace & quiet) but moving to the kuta area on friday for some shopping (and it's nearer to the airport for the return flight to MNL).

bali is a nice place to visit but i honestly think that our local destinations are better.

visit bali for their culture (most especially ubud).
their wood carvings are highly intricate (maybe better than paete).
the hand-painted or hand-woven batik is top class.

i just hate the traffic jam going to kuta, and the motorcycles.

last comment, lechon cebu with sukang pinakurat >>> babi guling (tried the highly recommended spesial meal at ibu oka). nothing special, mukhang dinaan lang sa spices yung sarap ng lechon.

trip report: went to bali with kobe20 and gameforatrip (and 2 other friends) last june 9-12. took manila-singapore via cebupac, then singapore-bali via airasia. we stayed at mercure harvestland kuta hotel and only paid around 1.2M IDR/room for 4D3N. nakuha namin yung promo ng accorhotel kaya happiness

we hired a driver (https://www.facebook.com/Silasbalitours) and paid 450K IDR per day (plus 100K tip). super nice ng driver namin, but i forgot his name. nakuha ko lang yung contact details nila sa tripadvisor. meron kasi dun list of recommended drivers and i emailed some and kung sino na lang yung may pinaka-ok na deal, yun na lang kinuha namin. puro temples yung pinuntahan namin and di ko na maalala yung mga names, but i know we went to tanah lot and uluwatu.

sa food naman, we also went to ibu oka and tried babi guling. masarap naman sya and interesting yung treatment nya ng lechon. we also had dinner at kudeta (seminyak beach), which also has a branch at marina bay sands. medyo expensive pero much cheaper than singapore's. for indonesian food, we visited gabah, malapit sa kuta center. i've tried this restaurant in my previous visits and it never disappoints. affordable and masarap

    bali driver recccommendation

    hi everyone ..

i come to bali many many time, for a business trip and some vacation with my special friend too..
i have a good bali driver , his name is KRISHNA

he is a humble and patience driver , he is very helpful he help me before and during the trip , he has a good driving skill, and good knowledge in tourism because he learned a tourism management before ...and a friendliest guy i ever met , i can guarantee in 5 minutes he can be your best friend

his price is very cheap than others only 35 USD for the whole day trip

    his site : http://balitourdrivers.webs.com
    email : krishna.bali.driver@gmail.com

some tips from me to get a good "bali driver"

    - better that you get bali driver ON LINE booking before and discuss your tour plan with him, dont hire street driver in bali !!!!

-find some reviews on the internet of your driver , because if you find a bad one , you just wasting your wonderful holiday time
    -compare the price
-find the good driver , we can see from the details information that he provide , from his web site or from the correspondence email that he gave to you

    good luck
