Which gym for you: Fitness First, Gold's Gym, or Slimmers' World? Why?

That's if you are after weight training. For cardio, of course they don't have the best equipment. However, it always boils down to what you make of it. Rememer, its not the bow and arrow, its Robin Hood.

SLIMMER'S World is not bad- IF you can go during the off-peak hours. But if you can't, you'll faint from the smell of the sweat of the masses of people using the machines, and crowding up the aerobics floor.

Neither. They all treat their customers the same. I honestly think there are other class gyms that are better than the three.

yep... I've seen some very disturbingly gay things in the locker room myself. pag homophobic ka talaga madidiri ka. i dont even use the showers or sauna... dahil dun sila nag kukumpol.

i have this untested theory: if it's a guyy that you don't know, chances are he's gay!

oh and if nasa abs- cbn ka rin pumunta WATCH OUT FOR MANANG COOKIES. (that's what i call her). she's this kinda old lady that carries around with her and green bag. inside this bag are cookies she sells (nevermind it's not allowed).. it tastes horrible as hell.

if you see her selling to other people, DO NOT LOOK ALL CURIOUS OR WHATEVER. dahil bebentahan ka nya!

I am looking for a gym to go to and the 2 gyms that I am thinking of going to are either Golds Gym or Fitness First.For those of you who has tried both,which gym do you prefer?And why?

I've been a member of both, and because of their inadequacies, we decided to put Eclipse 24/7 together.

The equipment is both world-class and custom tailored to suit people 6' tall and shorter, vs. those other two who have western sized equipment.

The real value is in the manager coaches, both American...the director who is an international powerlifting coach and fitness/nutrition expert, and Filipino general managers who are nationally and internationally ranked athletes. One just returned from Miami and placed 3rd in the world for bench press. If you are serious and want results, Eclipse is world class. The competition are just franchises. A franchise is not the original. Don't just go because of the name...go for the equipment and the people.

Sadly I disagree. There are about only 3 decent trainers at Gold's Makati...out of like 25. Go ahead and try Gold's Makati...please...for a trial. When you don't get results, come to Eclipse and I'll help you myself. I'm currently coaching some of the top powerlifters in the country for both men and women, as well as a couple of the Hawaiian Tropic hopefulls for the 2006 pageant.

Their equipment is not Asian size, i.e. the incline bench is too high, there are not enough squat racks and power cages, they don't have 2.5 lb plates, they only have 2 utility benches, their dumbbells jump in 10 lb increments after 60lbs, there's no sense of community, you have to hire trainers just to give you basic pointers and often their advice is dead wrong, they have too many machines and not enough freeweights, their plates are hexagonal in shape and roll away from you when you do deadlifts or rows, the managers don't interact with the clients...etc

But as I said, go to that commercial place that's only an international franchise...see for yourself. Ask yourself why the place has barely anybody there anymore...even on a Monday night.

I'm workingout for both Golds and Fitness First Gyms for 3 yrs now and so far i'm still satisfied in terms of services and equipments. You must atleast have a 1 wk trial for each gyms (include eclipse 24/7 please) and see it for yourself. You must always prioritize the variety of exercise equipments because our body has the characteristics of adaptation maybe this is the reason why Golds gym bought a lot of equipments. Feel it for yourself, choose a gym that you can be your second home because fitness must be a lifestyle. And lastly dont listen to such guys who will be competing on the gyms you mentioned in the near future. What would you expect from the owner of Jolibee when asked about McDonalds? Simple as that.
