^ Please have a follow-up peri-apical x-ray taken and have your dentist evaluate the x-ray.

Doc, where can I find a nearest, cheap but magaling na endodontic? Having a problem with my 3rd molar, may abscess na, and nag start ako ng self medication, 7 days of clindamycin 500mg and mefenamic acid 500mg. Ayoko na sanang ipaextrct dahil yun nlang natitirang molar ko, gusto ko po sanang iparoot canal kaya lang po im in a tight budget, magpapapustiso pa sana ako sa iba pang molar ko.. Sana matulungan nyo po ako, btw, im in novaliches.

^ Jrcaby you shouldn't self-medicate Clindamycin is a strong antibiotic that you shouldn't be taking routinely particularly when it is not needed or if there is an alternative. Your internist or family doctor can better explain why.

Is Manila Central University (MCU) accessible for you ? or you could try having yourself treated at UP Infirmary at UP Diliman.

Medyo malayo po kasi yung mcu at up.. Tnx!

Third molars have strange and unpredictable anatomy. Minsan dalawa lang canals, minsan naman madami ( think 5 or more ). Mahirap magRCT ng third molar and not all clinics will agree to RCT of that tooth.

Doc, How much is the cost of root canal? How much per canal? How many canals does the molar has? This is the molar beside the third molar. I want it to be extracted because it's really painful. I have doubts of undergoing Root Canal since as I have read from the posts here that there are times that it went unsuccessful. If I opted for extraction, how much will it costs? I live here in Makati area. Thanks so much in advance. ---Kertwin

Kung Endodontist (ibig sabihin nagaral sila ng Root Canal Therapy for 2 to 3 years after obtaining their dental license) ang gagamot , nasa P10,000 to P15,000 or more per canal.

hi, i also need endodontics, would you mind, how many session the rct to be done?thank you!

smilewarrior@ what if patty na ang ipin, pwede kaya na hindi na endodontics ang gumawa, besides, i have a copy of my X-ray, my lateral incisor has been dead for a long time, but since uuwi din naman ako ng pinas e dyan ko na ipapagawa kasi sobrang mahal dito, sino kaya ang affordable but trust worthy endodontics near in bicutan, hope you could help me, at ilang session ba ang root canal kapag patay na ipin, thank you..

  11. #311
ang mahal pala ng root canal.. patay na ang lateral incisor ko, what can you suggest dr smile warrior? thank you..

^ Saang bansa ka ba manggagaling flower02. If you consider the cost of airfair plus accomodations while you are staying here perhaps it would actually be better for you to have the RCT done at the country you are presently at. Kailangan kasi ng follow-up.

Tandaan din natin, the Philippines is a third world country. You are making an investment, you are investing in yourself. Trust me, you are worth it.

    Endodontics: Painless Root Canal Therapy

Painless root canal may sound like the words don't belong in one sentence, but new techniques are making it a reality for many dental patients. One such technique involves avoiding the root canal altogether by sealing the exposed nerve with newly developed adhesives.

Root canals are performed when bacteria, introduced through a cavity or crack, compromise the nerves located inside the tooth. The bacteria cause an infection, which eventually kills the nerves. But root canals can be avoided, thankfully, in cases where the nerves are not yet infected.

Instead of hollowing out the tooth and removing the pulp containing the nerves as is done in a root canal, the exposed nerve area is cleaned thoroughly and sealed.

Dentists now have the bonding technology that allows them to seal over the nerve using the same liquid plastic that contact lenses are made of.

Although the procedure, known as direct pulp capping, has been around for many decades, the use of traditional adhesives resulted in long-term failure rates as high as 80%. The newer sealant has a success rate of as high as 92%.

Another technique involves a new alternative laser treatment using a laser to vaporize infected tissue in even the most severe root canal cases, preserving the living portion of the nerve and saving the patient from much of the pain associated with the traditional procedure.

A visit to the oral surgeon will always remain low on the list of pleasant things to do, but the days of throbbing jaws and numbed mouths are drawing to a close. Dentistry is painful because drills are messy and hot. Friction builds up between the drill and the tooth, heating up the enamel and causing nerves to flare. A drill's vibrations can also weaken the tooth by creating small cracks and fissures in the tooth's surface.

Dental lasers take away all that trouble. They cut by vaporizing the water molecules inside soft, wet gums. An ingenious new laser called Waterlase adds to that the ability to cut through dry teeth and bone by casting a cloud of hot water vapor around the laser's cutting point, a couple of millimeters from the tooth. The excited water molecules dissipate their energy by bashing against the enamel and bone. Even as the tooth is being cut, it never gets hot, and there is little pain.

The procedure takes just one visit to the dentist and is much less expensive than the traditional painful root canal.

^ Kahit naman kasi hindi nasa mall it does not mean mas mababa sila maningil. Hmm, the University of Perpetual Help at Las Pinas has a dental school. You could try applying as a patient there but for Root canal therapy you'd most likely be treated by a dental student ( not licensed, monitored by a licensed dentist / teacher ).

  17. #317

hi smilewarrior and other PEX dentists!

I just have a question -- possible ba na sa panoramic xray, isa lang ang canal ng second molar but during the procedure makita ng dentist na tatlo ang canal sa loob?

    Thank you in advance!

  19. #319

@EverAfter Hi. Yes it is possible. Depends on the angle of the x-ray beam. If it passes perpendicular at exactly 90% and those canals happen to overlap each other they will appear as one. To check, please have a peri-apical x-ray taken at a different angle either more to the right or more to the left. This will show if there is an extra canal.

    Merry Christmas

  20. #320
Thanks, smilewarrior! Will have periapical done to check. I was surprised kasi I saw one canal lang sa panoramic but according to the dentist, three canals yung ginawa sa second molar ko. :-)
