University Chorale Groups

before...U.P. Madrigal.

ngayon...UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS SINGERS na! Having won the almost all of the grandest titles in the Best and the Hardest Musical Chorale Competitions in Europe and Germany and recently have gained the title of being the BEST choir in the world (the CHOIR OF THE WORLD TITLE) in Spain.

kung aayusin natin ang pagkakasunod-sunod:

1.UST Singers (being the CHOIR OF THE WORLD)
2.UP Madrigal (won titles in int'l compt'ns)
3.ATENEO COLLEGE GLEE CLUB (being the oldest)
4.others...(including DLSU Chorale...having won some titles in some competition somewhere overseas.)

Kayo...sino sa palagay n'yo?

UST Singers!!!

I also believe the DLSU Chorale is better than the Ateneo Chorale ha. During the Internation Choral Fest DLSU Chorale lang ang nandoon together with the UP Mads yata.

BASTA PILIPINO MAGALING!

NO DOUBT THE PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS!!!!!

They were declared the National Choir of the Philippines by the Philippine government and by the NCAA. OK lang kayong mga taga-USTE???
In terms of international recognition wala nang makakatalo pa sa Madz. Yung "Choir of the World" title ninyo matagal nang na-achieve ng MADZ. In fact, The Madrigal Singers represented the WESTERN part of the world after beating 3 major international choral fests that covers the whole European, American and Latin-American regions. They were eventually able to beat the Eastern region thereby regarded as "THE CHAMPION OF CHAMPION CHOIRS IN THE WORLD!" Last year's International Choral Fest sa CCP, UST was NOT even invited by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA). The Philippines Madrigal Singers and the De La Salle University Chorale were the only two Philippine choral groups that were given the honor and prestige to grace the ocassion. In fairness to La Salle, hwag niyo silang mamaliitin kasi they were able to take Europe by storm last 1995 where they bagged gold medals and first prizes in the 8 or 10 international choir competitions that they joined. These were in Germany, Finland, Latvia, Slovenia, France, Austria, etc. Last year alone, they were champions in two international choral competition, including the prestigious Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition in Pontheim, Germany where they won gold medal for the Folkloric Category, Mixed Group Category, and the Public choice award for best choral group. They perform regularly at Paco Park in Manila and at Concert at the Park in Luneta.
BUT THERE IS NO DOUBT TO THE SUPERIORITY OF THE MADZ OVER ALL PHILIPPINE CHOIRS!!!

The UST Singers was not there BECAUSE the group was in Europe competing in the Welsh Eisteddfod; they also went to the Gran Premio “Citta di Gorizia” at the 37th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale “C.A. Seghizzi” held in Gorizia, Italy where they bested 21 international entries; they were also competing in Lindenholzhausen, Germany; and they were also invited as a special guest in the 100th year anniversary celebration of the “MGV Arion Nombron” conducted by famous German musician, Hubertus Weimer and at the 25th anniversary concert of the Bayer Leverkeusen Choir last year.

"kaya po wala po sila dun. ang Madz naman po ay tumulak papuntang Europa sa isa pang pagtatanghal pagkatapos ng NCAA Fest habang ang grupong koral naman ng La Salle nung mga panahong yun ay nagpapatawing-tawing at naghihintay ng mga imbitasyong matumal."

pahabol...

"The Madrigal Singers represented the WESTERN part of the world after beating 3 major..."

"ano po ito??? kasi naman, ang dada."

I'd really appreciate it if you'd not start comparing both choral groups. Fact is, no one even asserted that the Ateneo College Glee Club was better than the DLSU Chorale. Besides, the ACGC rarely participates in international competitions—they focus mainly on their international tours every break. Therefore, there really is no solid basis to compare the two.

Is this another one of those sneaky tactics to spite the other school?

archerguy & §inned™ : clarification lang po. I work for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the acronym is not NCAA, its NCCA.

To add to what clawed said, the UST Singers is University wide kaya students of different colleges can join. There are even members from the College of Nursing and the Institute of Physical Therapy.

crispypata,

and

Madrigal...noon. And FYI, hindi puro U.P. ang members nila noon 'no, 1/4 ng members nila noon eh from UST din...at hindi U.P. Madz ang dala nilang pangalan 'no nung lumaban sila...PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS ang flagship name nila.Unlike in UST Singers, purely Thomasians ang members 'no...hindi nag-pi-pirate.And nung lumaban sila noon, ang dala nilang pangalan ay UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS-MANILA SINGERS,and LUCIANO PAVAROTTI said that "...the singers from MANILA that are from the Santo Tomas University are the best voices that i have heard" (the very word that came out from Pavarotti's mouth).

and

Kaya po wala ang UST SINGERS sa International Chorale Competititon that was held last year sa dito eh kasi po nasa EUROPEAN TOURS AND COMPETITIONS sila, actually, BEFORE pa sila umalis eh NCCA (NCCA, hindi po NCAA-diba league to ng the colles ng manila?) na mismo ang nag-invite sa kanila, but kailangan nilang lumaban para patunayan yung title nila overseas,as usual, they have defended their title.

FYI, hindi DLSU Chorale ang inimbitahan to be with Madrigal kundi FIRST choice nila eh UST SINGERS...my cousin told me (by the way she's a former DLSU Chorale prexy) na yun mismong conductor nila (DLSU) ang nagprisinta sa NCCA,para naman mag-karoon naman ng EXPOSURE ang Choir ninyo...as a part of your TOTAL packaging sa public.Kasi daw, U.P. merong Madz, UST may A.S.(Action Singers) and Ateneo merong ACGC.Ang La Salle wala, kaya sila na mismo ang nagprisinta, sayang nga naman ang binubuo ninyong advertisement sa public na "the Best" kayo sa laht ng bagay.HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO!?, ang mga sinalihan nilang competition (DLSU Chorale), hindi kilala,pa'no ang kalaban nila JAPAN, MALAYSIA and others, mostly from asian countries ang kalaban nila, in short, madadaling kalaban...ang UST Singers 'di na lumaban don kasi mag-aaksaya lang daw sila ng
panahon cause they will surely win there.hehehehe...walang asaran...sinasabi ko lang ang totoo...based from my cousin's statements.

Why don't we have a common insight. Filipinos are the best, or one of the best when it comes to Chorale Groups. Puro naman away dito sa PEx. Di na tumigil. Hanginan ng hanginan. Malamig na dito hoy!

elijah...tsk tsk tsk. Dati ka pa eh. You can't eat your way up being a 'MEMBER' by making such threads na puro away ang kalalabasan! Sama kayo ni isangUSTedyante! Respect the opinions of others.

I don't understand this. You open a thread asking who the best university chorale group is, and when someone replies that the best chorale group is non-UST, you insult him or her. This is a matter of taste, I believe. Why bother opening a thread at all, elijah/IsangUSTedyante? If you are attempting to make UST a better school in the eyes of other non-UST people here in PEx, this is not the way to do it.

Ira: I completely understand your point, but I think the real problem is not about "making one school look good to other schools". I think the problem lies in the fact that other people use baseless, undocumented, and unreliable information in defending their replies.

Several of the Thomasians have just expressed clarificatory statements to correct what had been posted. I still believe it is everybody's right to correct grave errors, especially when it is borne out of hearsay and personal opinion. To correct errors is just a human way of defending one's own dignity and pride in front of others.

Now, when other people don't seem to appreciate what has been corrected, it's simply a case of how one handles criticism. But then again, there is but a fine line between intense defending and destructive insulting. And I think that when we try to traverse this fine line, many people still would not know how to take it.

Sometimes people do get emotional. It's part of a defense mechanism. What we can try to do, however, is to try to defend ourselves while keeping in mind the respect that is due to others. What keeps this BB alive is this thrust to really express what we feel, and that is what I find most incredible about PEx.

Besides, I don't think UST started this whole mess.

I wholeheartedly agree with Yoshi. I just noticed that whenever the Thomasians say something good about UST, it seems that it is the end of the world for the La Sallians/La Sallites (will never be cut and dried, eh?). They would rather start posting hogwash, baseless, untenable and scheming posts.

If you are going to check the UAAP forum (where it seems to me that it's the balwarte of DLSU people after seeing all the threads about DLSU has the cutest guys and girls, crush ng bayan whatever or that DLSU's good tambayans etc. etc.), did we, in any way, interfere with them telling them that what they are claiming are not true? Why are these La Sallians/La Sallites (La Sallians/La Sallites (will never be cut and dried, eh?) are so threatened whenever a Thomasian or an Atenean say something good about their schools? They just love discrediting other people's claims using their groundless wherefores.
