Thumbs up Seven Years Ago . . .

Seven years ago this day, the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) opened shop at the Narciso Ramos Sports Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan with no less than Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos as the guest of honor. MBA Commissioner Ramon S. Fernandez presented a special tribute to basketball icon Carlos Loyzaga.

All 12 teams paraded and settled down to business. Power forward Peter Martin scored the first basket in league history as his Manila Metrostars blasted the Cebu Gems in the community-based pro league's first official game. In the main game, the visiting Socsargen Marlins shocked the host Pangasinan Presidents.

Long live the memories of the MBA!

Dun ko nakita ang napakagaing na si Alex Compton. Especially when he made that long, long trey from half court na jump shot ang porma to force the game to overtime. I wasn't sure though kung sa Metrostars pa nun si Alex or baka nasa Batangas Blades na siya nun. What I remember was that sa Sentrum La Salle Lipa court niya ginawa yun.

What I won't forget as well in the MBA is during their annual slam dunk contest, Leo Bat-Og went for a dunk but when he sensed that he is going way short to do his dunk, instead he just converted his attempt to lay-up. Tawa ko talaga ng tawa nung napanood ko yun.

meron din nangyari isang beses when alex compton accidentally kissed a lady when he dive for the looseball i don't remeber who are their opponents basta elimination game ata un. meron din nangyari na tumira c alex ng 3 points sa halfcourt pero ang porma jumpshot and it happened during their regional finals against pasig-rizal.

the only reason why i watched MBA before was because of the Manila Metrostars. correct me if i'm wrong, dito naglaro sina compton at adducul, right? the only reason why i stopped watching it is because of the san juan team.

hindi naman ako anti-MBA. i just liked PBA better. syempre, andun ginebra e.

i'm a fan of the manila metrostars then i shifted to lbc batangas then to the osaka pangasinan waves. the reason is i love the adducul-compton tandem but it become more deadly when he was teamed with chris clay.

Was there a time wherein Adducul and/or Compton teamed up with Chris Clay. Honestly, I really missed Chris Clay's playing style. He is your typical forward who shoots the ball from long range, slashes daredevilly to the paint, has handles and can dish out the dimes. Too sad that he had to disappear because of the Fil-Sham fiasco.
