    Thumbs up

"Pang ilang...." - "What ordinal number...."

i guess would be the most appropriate translation of the phrase...

i don't think there's a translation for the word "hello" sa tagalog.

    hahah tanungin mo na lang:

"Do you a have a brother?" or "Do you have a sister?"

hehe ewan ko, kasi parang mashdaong formal pag sibling ang ginamit mong word eh.

ano naman sa english ang utang na loob?

o baka, What is your sibling, a boy or a girl???

kaya lang, sempre, pilosopo mga Pinoy, pagtanong mo pa lang ng What is your sibling... ang isasagot agad, HUMAN...

ganire na lang, What is the gender of your sibling?

Pano kung nung magtanong ka ng "Is your sibling a boy or a girl?" eh naka shorts, tsinelas at sando ka lang, formal pa rin ba masyado?

Anyway, what is being asked is the exact english translation right? So wether it's formal sounding or not, it doesn't really matter.... and besides, dito satin, pag inglisero ka, kadalasan sasabihin eh sosi ka or pormal masyado di ba?

UTANG NA LOOB = DEBT OF GRATITUDE!

on the original question: In terms of order, GMA is what president of the Philippines?

ANO ang iyong kapatid, lalake ba o babae?: Is your sibling male or female? (quite formal) Is your sibling a girl or a boy? (rather informal)

tagalog ng hello: "kumusta" - from the spanish como estas or how are you? in spanish, hello is hola. however, early Filipinos may have found hola too "aristocratic" and thus decided not to use it at all.

also "helo", since Filipino, particularly Tagalog, more often than not replicates English words/phrases merely by the way they sound thereby translating such into a new Filipino vocabulary.

    e.g.:

    Holen: "Hole in!"
    Jeepney: "Jitney"

and yes, "hoy" is a Filipino slang for hello. hey is actually slang for the old british english "ay" meaning "yes/yea" (the ays outnumber the nays: "ay!"), and also for the common literary expression "Ay?"

weekend is simply "katapusan ng linggo" ("iaabot ko na lamang ang pa-unang bayad bago ang katapusan ng linggong ito" = "i will hand you the initial payment before this weekend")
