    "Womanity" wows the world!

Each time a famous or celebrated lady helps make this world a better place to live in with her remarkable skills and talents, she becomes an inspiration to other people.

Each time an ordinary woman does extraordinary things to make a difference, she becomes a living example of love, compassion, and hope.

Their accomplishments—big or small— should not go unnoticed.

Our very own Pinays in the entertainment industry have been making us proud with their feats over the past few years.

Take Lea Salonga, for example, whose acclaimed status in theater has earned her local and international fame, not to mention respect for her duties as World Vision Ambassador for Child Sponsorship. The world-class performer has also earned the nod of her countrymen as the 2nd Most Trusted Public Personality in the Philippines.

There's Iza Calzado, whose performance in the international remake of the suspense thriller film Sigaw has captured the attention of Hollywood. The talented Kapuso actress is also a devoted and active supporter of breast-cancer awareness campaigns.

Daphne Oseña-Paez, regardless of her busy schedule as a full-time mom and TV personality, has also strived for the common good and was appointed UNICEF Special Advocate for Children.

And, of course, Judy Ann Santos made use of her status by helping the needy via her Touch a Heart Foundation.

Female Network recognizes these inspiring stories of Pinays who are shining examples of what women can achieve thru Womanity Awards. Categories include entertainment, the arts, advocacies, fashion, public service, and sports.

Nominations will be open up to July 31. The selected finalists will be featured on Female Network's site, and winners will be selected through voting. The awardees will be announced on November 15.

Spread womanity, wow the world with women power!

Direk Joey cites Vilma, Juday as 'timeless' stars
    By Shiela Reyes, abs-cbnNEWS.com
    Posted at 08/30/2011 11:16 PM | Updated as of 08/30/2011 11:44 PM

MANILA, Philippines – Veteran director Jose Javier Reyes has an idea on how one can be considered a "timeless" star.

Speaking to ANC’s “View from the Top,” Reyes explained that having a mark in the entertainment scene does not only entail that one should have good looks.

“Not necessarily beauty because that will fade. You may be beautiful as a young person but then it’s your process of evolution which is important in the eyes of the audience. Your personality is so important. Thirdly, your disposition, how you deal with other people,” he said.

Reyes said it is sad that the Philippines is a country that always tends to mistake celebrities for artists.

“One thing that we should study carefully is does it necessarily mean that if you are successful as a TV star, that you can also bring in the box office the moment you appear in the big screen? Not necessarily so,” he said.

“There was a time before when there were TV stars and there were movie stars. Now they are one and the same. Nowadays, the television creates the movie stars. They are not really movie stars, they are just TV stars in the big screen,” he added.

Reyes even noted that most people nowadays are “more concerned to be celebrities than artists.”

    On Vilma, Juday

Reyes mentioned the mark left by Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos in the entertainment industry.

“I think of 2 examples. One is Vilma Santos who has succeeded to evolve from a child star in ‘Trudis Liit’ evolving into this teeny-bopper in the Tagalog Ilang-Ilang Pictures singing with Edgar Mortiz until she eventually became ‘Burlesk Queen’ until she became ‘Sister Stella L’ and now she is the Governor of the province of Batangas,” he narrated.

He also recognized the achievements of Young Superstar Judy Ann Santos.

“Another one who is following that path is Judy Ann Santos. From the child star in ‘Ula’ into ‘Mara Clara’ into what she became in ‘Kasal Kasali Kasalo’ and now she has became the personification of the young mother reinventing herself as a chef. From what I’ve heard, she wants to go back to school because she wants to validate herself some more despite everything she has already achieved,” Reyes said.

Reyes said it is the admirable efforts of the “timeless” stars to have long range plans that differentiate them from the rest in the industry.

“They are not only beautiful human beings but then they are beautiful examples to a multitude who adore them,” he said.

Ms. Judy Ann Santos turns 26 in showbiz years at the same time as she celebrates her 34th birthday. Share your own favorites during this milestone month of Juday

    SOURCE: http://www.femalenetwork.com/celebri...n-santos-roles

As this actress turns 34, FN looks at which of her past roles we find the most riveting. By Belle Yambao

Actress Judy Ann Santos celebrates her 34th birthday today (May 11, 2012). As she turns another year older, her showbiz career continues to flourish. After the success of her hosting gig on Junior Master Chef Philippines, Juday is back to her original love - acting - as she plays the role of a girl who dies and leaves evidence of her friends' secrets behind in an upcoming Cinemalaya Festival film called Mga Mumunting Lihim.

Her latest role is one in a long series of portrayals she's done through the years in both teleseryes and movies. She's even won more than a handful of awards for her efforts.

    1. JOANNA IN TILL THERE WAS YOU (2003)

Juday’s character, Joanna, was dragged into an unexpected situation when businessman Albert’s (Piolo Pascual) daughter mistook her for her mom in this movie. Juday and Piolo have great chemistry, and we couldn’t help feeling kilig whenever the two of them exchanged witty banter!

    2. ABBY IN DON’T GIVE UP ON US (2006)

If there’s one thing we love about Juday’s acting, it’s that she always makes her characters approachable and believable. Abby was no exception, and we found ourselves appreciating her determined and steadfast character as she went on a journey with folk singer Vince (Piolo Pascual) in the hopes of finding her lost best friend, Sabina (Cheska Garcia).

    3. INYA IN AISHITE IMASU 1941 (2004)

Judy Ann showed off her skills as a dramatic actress in this 2004 Metro Manila Film Festival entry. Her character, Inya, went from happy newlywed to despondent wife in this movie after her husband (Raymart Santiago) set off to fight the Japanese as a guerrilla war leader.

    4. ANGIE IN KASAL, KASALI, KASALO (2006)

Juday starred with real-life partner Ryan Agoncillo in this fun movie, in which they played a loving couple in the midst of wedding preparations. This time around, Juday was able to showcase her skills in both comedic and dramatic acting as the plot took her character, Angie, from laughter to tears.

    5. ESPERANZA IN ESPERANZA (1997-1999)

    6. MARA IN MARA CLARA (1992-1997)

    7. PLONING IN PLONING (2008)

Juday showed that, aside from intense dramatic roles, she could also do well with restrained, quiet roles when she played country girl Ploning in this indie movie. She was able to portray her character’s genuine desire to help others along with her repressed longing for the man she loved very well. We can’t wait to see her in a similar role in the future!

    8. PATRICIA IN SA PUSO KO IINGATAN KA (2001-2003)

    9. JENNIFER IN SA PILING MO (2006)

    10. KRYSTALA IN KRYSTALA (2004-2005)
