    hi everyone

I'm sure alot of misconception and resistance has been brought out about fat girls in fashion (or fatties in general) - alot may see it as a encouragement to live an unhealthy lifestyle - completely missing the point which is to widen the very narrow and limited idea of what beautiful is. We're talking about at least 300 years or so "tradition", so I guess resistance to any deviation is bound to happen.

There are fatties who enjoy an active lifestyle just like the next "normal-sized" person (myself included, I happen to enjoy hiking, dancing and my latest craze: a dance work out called Zumba, but I don't torture myself with the goal of weightloss, if it happens then ok, if not ,then I'm not going to cry about it).

Why can't we all just co-exist, right? And not measure each other up by size and instead, give more substance on how kindly we treat ourselves and one another. I myself have accepted that it's human nature to judge, so I've accepted I will be judged (and heck, I bring my judgemental self every now and then, so I'm flawed like everyone else). I've now dismissed to live by what society think I ought to be or how to look. What they think of me has nothing to do with me, that's their opinion not mine. That's the issue they have to live with and fortunately, it has nothing to do with me- that's their bone to pick you know . That's my rant for the day hehehe.

...anyway, again from my one of my favorite fatty fashionista bloggers :

hi Night Shade hi P hi everyone

wow Namintha is pretty ..and dang she's tall !!!!
ok what is 70 kilos? 154lbs I see ...are the girls real?

I'm pleasantly surprised about this because ..well because she's Indian and maybe I see them as very "reserved" culturally but I just realized we're talking about the culture that started "Kama Sutra".

hehehehe why are there photos of black dudes behind her? Give her more street cred

Newcomer Gabourey (Gabby) Sidebe creates a buzz in Hollywood

Ms. Sidebe is the star of the movie Precious, based on a book called "Push" by Sapphire. Everyone is raving about the talent of this newcomer. I hope to see more of her.

    from the blog: http://blog.musingsofafatshionista.c...-from-precious

This is her response to people who thinks the character Precious and her are the same person:

“They try to paint the picture that I was this downtrodden, ugly girl who was unpopular in school and in life, and then I got this role and now I’m awesome,” says the actress. “But the truth is that I’ve been awesome, and then I got this role.”

    You tell 'em girl !

...she has buzzed her way on the cover of NY Times Magazine

^boyfriend tops! love em looks almost the same as mine, though mine's not pop sleeves.

hands down go Gabby Sibido for the courage and the a-t-t-i-t-u-d-e!

what i'm crazy for these days are boots (again) hehehe!
i only have one, a black leather ankle boots, 2.5 inches chunky heels.
    it was a savior.
yesterday, i had 3 outfit changes, don't know what to wear, so i ended up wearing a black polo shirt. just that--a black polo shirt and straight cut jeans
akala ko bad trip nako buong araw dahil hindi ko feel yung suot ko.
but the black boots saved my day! kahit simple black polo lang suot ko, nagka-ooomph nung naka-boots nako.

i passed by the tiangge at the ground floor of our building here in makati, and i saw this darling and fell in love with it in an instant!!
well that's the closest thing i can show you guys. but the idea is, it's actually a wedge sneakers na open toe. it's available in beige, black, and red canvass material.

but unfortunately, i left my wallet on purpose so as not to buy on impulse. and worse, the biggest size is 8. while i'm a 9.
kinulit ko talaga yung saleslady na maghanap ng size 9!! babalikan ko sila ng monday.. hmP!

i promise to post the actual pic here pag nabili ko na yun.
    can't wait!!

I soooo wanted to share this interview of Crystal Renn for TIME Magazine. (dated October 26, 2009)

Six years ago, Crystal Renn was an unknown size-0 model who moved to New York City from Clinton, Miss., to make it big. She struggled with her weight for years, however, and finally made the bold decision to switch to plus-size modeling. Now a healthy 165 lb., she is the highest-paid plus-size model in the world, having graced the covers of American Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and appeared in Dolce & Gabbana ads. The 23-year-old talks with TIME about her new book, Hungry, her size-0 modeling days and walking the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier.

How did you get into modeling?
When I was 14 years old, my mother put me in an etiquette beauty school. One day a scout came up to me and said, "Oh, my gosh, you're going to be the next supermodel." I didn't even know what that meant. He pulled out a picture of Gisele and said, "This is who you can be." But he said I had to lose nine inches off my hips. That was the beginning.

You got down to 95 lb. on your 5 ft. 9 in. frame. What was your typical day like when you were a size-0 model?
Before I began modeling, I prepared for two years, and in that time I developed an eating disorder. My day would involve waking up and steaming vegetables. Then I would go to 10 castings, followed by a trip to the gym for three to four hours and sometimes even up to eight hours. I would eat lettuce and vegetables all day long, but I would think about food all the time.

When you look at a picture of yourself at that weight, what do you see?
Another person. It was very clear that I hated my life. During that time, I felt extremely detached from my body. I didn't feel like me or feel anything at all. The only way to survive was through detachment. I would wake up sometimes feeling like I had the flu times 10, and I knew I would have to go to the gym for eight hours.

What was it like to start eating again?
When I had the eating disorder, I never lost my love for food. I just told myself that if I wanted to be a model, I would have to stop [doing] one of my favorite things. I remember having my epiphany moment and making the decision to eat again. It was pretty amazing. My first meal was what many would regard as very healthy: a salad with salmon, walnuts and olive oil. At the time, I feared that I would gain 100 lb. with one bite. It didn't happen, and I felt superrelieved. I knew I was on the right path.

Do you still worry about your weight?
When it comes to food, I've been through such a deep, dark place with my body that I associate dieting and hating my body with extreme unhealth. I was losing my hair, I had no energy, and I was extremely depressed. I don't really watch my weight at all now. I do make sure that I eat as healthy as I can for energy purposes, but I no longer restrict my calorie intake to feel better about myself.

It took a lot of courage to write about this. How did the fashion industry react to your book?
Surprisingly, I've found the industry to be extremely supportive. When I first moved over to plus-size modeling and I had this new body, I worked with an editor who knew me when I had the eating disorder. She said, "What happened to you? You look so much better now!" At that moment, I made a decision to tell the truth. I felt relief in telling my [story]. I think people in the industry have become more receptive to looking at different body types because of my book and my [decision to] speak out.

What was it like to walk out on the runway and close the Paris show for Jean Paul Gaultier in 2005?
Walking for Jean Paul Gaultier was magical. I had no idea I was ending the show in the first place until I was about to walk out on the runway. This had been a dream of mine for so long, so it was definitely a moment. I never felt so accepted in my life, and I now know that change is possible after all in this industry.

What do you hope other women will gain from this book?
Women have come so far in the past 100 years. But what holds them back is lack of confidence and self-hatred. Those two things can affect every part of your life. I was at the lowest level you can be. It was only when I accepted myself that I managed to achieve [my goals] in life and work. Through this book, I want women to know that people in the [fashion] industry can relate to them too. Women struggle everywhere with their weight and their bodies, and no one talks about it. I wanted to speak for the unspoken.

P , you should post your outfits here, what do you think? Your outfit sounded really cute

thanks for posting the Crystal Renn interview - wow 6 figures . Wow talaga and I'm so glad that she's an instrument in changing perceptions.

pero baka "takaw mata" lang ako hehehe. The heels are too high for me and I'm so clumsy , as Beth Ditto states , " You don't have no swagger, wear flats." hehehehe

hi Tri, it's monday na, and later i'll go back to that store, kukulitin ko until they produce a size 9. what color do you advice i get? all is in canvass material, but in colors beige black and red. i am choosing between beige/cream and black so madaling i-match sa kahit anong top.

naku Tri, same here, 95% of the time sneakers ako. just last night--last minute retail therapy, i bought a new pair of marikina-made sneakers na converse look-alike. bale i have 3 sneakers na ina-alternate ko. i have a pair of black heel pumps kaso i use it for formal occasions lang.
this 2.5in heel leather boots are just hand-me-down from my ka-officemate. it was too big for her because she's a size 6, how on earth would she use a size 9 boots. haha. so 'pinamana' nalang nya sa'kin, kaysa naman maluma lang sa box. parang nagiging training ko narin itong boots so when i get my hands--err feet--on that sneaker wedge, hindi na ko maninibago masyado. remember that Converse wedge i posted here before? hmmm i think it's still too costly for me. it's not that i can't afford it, but i think i don't deserve to wear a P3k pair just yet.

as of this time i prefer boots and those wedge sneakers, kasi even when there's the height/heel, i'm not scared to walk in it kasi i feel a sense of security and balance dahil may naka-yakap sa paa ko na enclosure (i hope you get my point hehe). unlike stilettos na straps lang, naku im far far far from wearing stilettos (and besides i have weak knees).

Tri, i love those shoes! what do you actually call that style? meron kaya nyan dito? what i know is may factory dito sa marikina ang hushpuppies eh. and that would be cute to pair with a blue plaid boyfriend polo i bought din kagabi. hehehe. retail therapy rocks!
you should try to train your feet with a little heels like i do now. iisa nga lang itong boots na to e. and it;s my first time to wear 2.5 inches na heels. kung mas okay sa'yo, pwede ka mag-wear ng heels gradually, start from 1in, then 1.5, then 2in, then 2.5in. pero ako kuntento na sa feet-hugging type (boots, sneaker wedge etc) na shoes and chunky heels. hindi ko talaga kakayanin mag stilettos, i don't wanna risk my knee just for to wear stilettos. i feel sexy even in a converse flats anyway, hehehehe..

post my outfits here? hmm lemme think about that, hehe. it's a nice idea, pero i admit i am not fashionista enough pa eh. i don't want bashers to come in this thread, sabagay tyo-tayo lang naman talaga ang nandidito, hehe. (i wonder there enah and nightshade are).
i'll work on that Tri, maybe next year? hehe.. and when i start, i hope you do too. that would be nice since you can share your outfits na bagay sa cold weather na country.

whew what a long post. mondays to fridays lang po kasi ako nakakapag-pex.

i think i saw Gabby Sibido on Unang Hirit this morning, but i didn't get to hear what she said kasi maingay sa bus (on my way to work).i'll try to look it up here. magkano kaya yung book ni Crystal Renn? naku wag naman sana gnun ka-mahal. i am collating pictures of Crystal and other plus size models, ipprint ko then ippost sa room ko, para dagdag inspiration sa pagddiet. hehe.

*natuwa naman ako nung may dumating na bago, sina nightshade and Enah. kaso asan na kaya sila?

    btw, what's a swagger?

    Hi everyone

Tri, i already bought the shoe i was talking about since friday. but i didnt get the open toe-sneaker-wedge. i asked a second opinion--from my new officemate na i was talking about (yung plus size din). she was right, the open toe-sneaker-wedge has so many stuff going on. sneaker type na, wedge na, open toe pa.
so i got the one na platform heels nalang. i don't know what to call it eh, hehe. i'll post the pic as soon as i can. (i don't have a camera phone kasi hehe)

with all these plus size model frenzy here, i just want to post a food poster i found while browsing the net.

well, fashion is the 2nd for me.
    first parin ang health syempre.

  16. #156
Hi P can't wait to see the shoe you bought What color?

...thanks for the tips , I will certainly do that and about the shoes, I really don't know what style it is either

Mr. Lagerfeld, I really love your works and there are people who will agree with you. It used to be that way for me, but I no longer give myself a hard time about it

hmm...about swagger, I can only do my interpretation of Beth Ditto's statement based on the context

" You don't got no swagger. Just wear flats."

my interpretation " ...wala kang poise , hinid mo carry. Mag flats ka nalang."

swagger, the text book definition is :

    v. swag·gered, swag·ger·ing, swag·gers
    v.intr.
    1. To walk or conduct oneself with an insolent or arrogant air; strut.
    2. To brag; boast.

    from: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/swagger

copy and pasted from my blog :

Renoir - Yes, one of the earlier artists of the Impressionist movement.

Honey, you can paint me anytime hehehehe

When I was in the Musee d'Orsay last year, I was so excited because of the Monet and the Van Gogh collectio more than Renoir's. But when I stepped into his collection though, my interest was picqued. I see youthful faces full of merriment and glee, beautiful shades , angles and lights. The beautiful clothes and accessories his subject has on as well as the period fashion of the women. But was struck me the most was he celebrates beauty in all shapes and forms - particularly plus sized women.

To Renoir and to beauty *cheers*
