Sa June 25 pa magaganap ang concert ni Pops Fernandez sa Lucena City, sa Quezon Convention Center pero, ngayon pa lamang sold out na ang halos lahat ng prime seats, kundi man blocked out na. Ang kapasidad ng venue ay tinatayang mahigit sa 10,000. Mga kilalang tao, at ang tinatawag na the rich and famous ng Quezon province, mga negosyante, bankers, estudyante at maski na mga ordinaryong mamamayan ay bumibili ng tiket para lamang mapanood si Pops. Hindi lang ito, pati mga sponsors ay umaapaw na. Halos hindi na magkasya ang mga pangalan nila sa poster at billboard.

Tinatayang ang concert ni Pops ang magsisimula at magpapalakas sa larangan ng entertainment sa Quezon Province, lalo na ang mga taga-Lucena City. Sa Hunyo 25, sa palabas ng The Concert Queen, tatawagin na rin ang Lucena City na The Concert City.

...Richard and I watched with some of our good friends, two shows this year. On Saturday, the 12th, we went to the Ultra to spend the night with Pops and Regine. Aptly titled Queens on Fire, both queens gave performances that wowed the crowd. They wore beautiful costumes, they gave their all to the crowd unabashedly and passionately, and they were appreciated for that. For months, there were whispers of who would outshine whom, but I am happy to say that both women stood out on their own. Pops was poised and classy all the way, and for me, she has never looked better. She looked so fit and toned, she danced and moved so well (especially in her Beyonce number), and I so loved how she sang Take My Breath Away. Surprisingly, she was very funny, too. Many thanks to Regine. ...

I think another reason people enjoyed the concert was because both Pops and Regine are known to love fashion and they really dress up and do not disappoint, especially in terms of the variety and number of costume changes. They had risqué fashion choices, which I thought added to the energy of the show. And both really played it up for the appreciative crowd. As expected, the latter demanded an encore, and coming out in their most dressed down outfit for the evening – denim jeans with fitted white tops that had their names written on it – they got the Ultra dancing to tunes from the ’80s.

TOMORROW (March 12), at 6 p.m, Philippine Movie Press Club presents
its 21st Star Awards for Movies at the Cinema 5, Gateway Cineplex
in Araneta Center, Cubao.

Concert queen Pops Fernandez will be the lone host in the first part while Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos takes over the second half
of the show. Concert king Martin Nievera will be trivia host.

This year's Star Awards night will feature numbers lifted from
Broadway musicals.

Its grandiose opening number will be led by Pops and The Company
with the Speed dancers complete with masquerade ball costumes,
rendering "Masquerade" and a take from "The Phantom of the Opera."

Singing idols Erik Santos, Mark Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go shall
do a heartwarming musical number. They will sing "Circle of Life"
and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the hit Broadway
musical, "The Lion King."

Fans will surely watch out for the dance showdown between SCQ's Hero
Angeles and Sandara Park and StarStruck's Mark Herras and Jennylyn
Mercado in an exciting production number. They will do some Broadway
and hiphop dance steps with the Speed dancers.

Finale number will be a grand Broadway medley featuring Jamie Rivera,
Franco Laurel, Keempee de Leon and Karylle where they will croon
songs from timeless Broadway musicals like "Cats," "West Side
Story," "Les Miserables" and "Miss Saigon."

Chosen 'Celebrity Pair of the Night' will receive P10,000 cash and
plaques from Drs. Manny at Pie Calayan.

The 21st Star Awards for Movies will be aired 9 p.m. on RPN 9,
produced by Airtime Marketing and directed by Al Quinn.
