you need P5T to open an account with citiseconline. first rule in stock investments - invest money you can lose and don't need. read business papers first. go to investment sites to learn.

help po.. kasi i want to redeem a small amount from my uitf .. ngayon sabi ng teller I have to redeem all of it daw even if I would just want to get a small amount (yun po talaga sabi ng teller) ..just want to ask kasi when I will re-invest again the amount let's say 70k bawasan ng 10k den ibabalik yung natitira on the present NAV .. will it affect the number of my shares?.. long term investing pa rin po yung goal ko..

  10. #1910
@jadey, depends on the NAVPU/price per unit at the time you will reinvest, if it is lower, then there is a chance the number of shares would be the same, however most likely you will get fewer shares, since like you said you would be withdrawing 10k

Sana umangat na ang trading tomorrow. Missing the record-breaking all time highs na nagaganap almost daily since January.

PSE just fell below 5000, expect the index to test new support levels at around 4700ish. this is normal, considering we are in the month of May which is a consolidation phase for the index

How does one start saving money in stock?

  16. #1916
You need to open an account with a stockbroker. I use an online broker -- citiseconline.com. But before you start buying and selling be sure to educate yourself first. Rule no. 1 in stocks -- Do not lose money :-) I personally recommend starting with Bo Sanchez's My Maid Invests in the Stock Market. Citiseconline also offers free seminars to its customers. Hope this helps.

yes 5k is for EIP while the 25k is for regular trading account
    the differences are very minor.
but in essence, 5k is designed for new investors whereas the 25k is for more active trading.
here's a blog on the differences.

  18. #1918
First of all educate and train yourself. You have to start with a Demo account (a proper one and not one that makes you "win" every trade as some low quality brokers offer!) and also find out as much as you can about the field you want to be active in (Stocks, Forex etc.).
Most important of all: Choose a good and reliable broker! I found lots of useful info here

Technical trading is the same regardless which market you are using. This is because we do not really trade stocks or FOREX or options or futures but what we actually trade are people... people with emotions of greed, fear or even indecision. These emotions are quantified in a technical chart giving buy, sell or delta-neutral triggers. We trade US stocks but the technicals will apply the same way to Philippine stocks. We are currently trying the local market and the only drawback is that there is one directional play: long or trade up. In the USA, we can trade long (UP) or short (DOWN) or even delta-neutral or sideways action selling both overbought and oversold levels through options.

Trading just long (UP) will require more patience as one waits for the buy trigger. Currently, with the Philippine Index flirting new highs, many Philippine stocks are in overbought territory meaning no buy triggers. It is a good environment to take some profits which we have done on some rare stocks with swing trade pattern.

Still, the Philippine market can be a medium for independent traders to make a living. A downturn into supports is the immediate opportunity (threat to those who are already in the market) as buying triggers will abound but the market can also go into consolidation boxes or Darva's boxes or flag/pennant formation where the stock go sideways while the supports rise up waiting for breakout pressure.

To make a living in the market will require enough capitalization, time, patience and trading skill. Capital alone is not enough and is probably dangerous. ha-ha It is better to try to learn to be consistent making a few pesos per trade. Once you are consistent making e.g. P100 pesos per trade, you can simply increase size and make P1000. Trading is a repeatable process doing the same thing over and over again. Be good @ one strategy or timeframe (intraday, swing, position, etc) and be consistently profitable until you go to another. But most successful traders we know stay with a system once they find their niche. Why mess around with success?! he-he

The niche timeframe away from daytraders and position or institutional players is swing trade using daily bars. It is a less crowded timeframe mostly competing with other independent traders. It is like playing Texas Hold-em where players play against each other and not the casino itself.
