    ^ funny! hehe

I think Ronnie is a Bangladeshi, not Sri-Lankan...

    Silveraden,

Ronnie Nathanielsz used to be a Sri Lankan until then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, by presidential decree, gave him his naturalized Filipino citizenship. Nathanielsz who has worked in the country for several years as a media practitioner, was granted by Marcos for having supported him in his presidency all throughout.

This is the same presidential decree that made it possible for American players to become naturalized back in 1981 while playing for the NCC Training Team of Ron Jacobs. We have to understand that during that time, it was Martial Law and that with the use of the pen and his signature, Marcos can actually create his own laws or execute these to the fullest, including for his personal benefit.

Nathanielsz has eventually embraced Filipino citizenship. I won't doubt where his heart is - he has been in the Philippines long enough to love the country and treat it as his very own. But for a veteran media practitioner like him, he must exercise due diligence when reporting the news. There are times when I agree with his views, there are times when I don't - but no one has a monopoly of personal opinions anyway. I don't like it though when he starts coddling the people he's been close with over the years - from Marcos to Danding Cojuangco to Robert Jaworski to Rudy Salud to Golden Boy Promotions. He describes these guys like gods and appears to worship them as if they don't make mistakes.

    Open Letter To Ronnie Nathanielsz

Check Your Facts And Meet Me On BC Radio

    Ricardo Lois
    9/20/2008

To: Mr. Ronnie Nathanielsz, Boxing Journalist

From: Mr. Ricardo Lois, Boxing "Writer"

CC: Manny Pacquiao Fans Around The Globe.

    Dear Mr. Nathanielsz,

I see you took time from your busy writing schedule to address my recent comments on Boxing Confidential Radio. Your article addresses my comments regarding the overall physical well-being of Manny Pacquiao in his upcoming "fight" with Oscar De La Hoya and my views on some of Pacquiao's hardcore fanatics.

Today Mr. Michael Marley, boss hog at Boxing Confidential, took the time to "defend" my recent comments on Boxing Confidential Radio, as well as my overall style of writing. While I appreciate Mr. Marley's support, I am my own man and want to make what I meant and what I do crystal clear with no misunderstanding.

In my response to your very public comments regarding my comments on Pacquiao, I will be quoting your column from PhilBoxing.com.

"But what distressed if not angered us was the seeming hatred for Pacquiao which seethed in the brief portion we read in the Inquirer in which Lois claimed that the demolition of Pacquiao “will make up for what we had to put up with Pacmaniacs over the years. It will be great seeing Oscar De La Hoya knock Manny out in three rounds.”"

First and foremost, I have no hatred for Manny Pacquiao and Pacmaniacs. Just because I believe that Manny Pacquiao will loss and by knockout, does not mean I hate the man. Also, lets make something clear. I did NOT write these statements, Mr. Marley quoted me from comments on Boxing Confidential Radio. I invite you to please listen to the show and my exact comments. They come on at 41 minutes and twenty seconds.

^^ True.. kaso mas mahirap nga naman i-respect if the comment came from biased and well known Pacquiao critics/detractors such as Ronnie Nathanielsz and Recah Trinidad.

Wala namang mali o tamang opinion.

  11. #31
First, I don't read Ronnie's article because he just can't keep himself from being bias and huge a$$ kisser. But I agreed with him when he thought JMM won the fight.

    FYI lang.

Nathanielsz was an amateur boxer during his youth in Sri Lanka. Setting aside questions of how good he was and what was his record, fact is, if you have fought in the ring, it gives you a different perspective compared to the regular guy on the street.

I find his commentary on boxing matches, not just on this recent fight, as being arrogant. Ang dating ay nagmamagaling ang leaves no space for a differing opinion.

Maybe that is brought about by the fact that he was a boxer before.

Malamang sa loob-loob niya, he is asking, "Naging boxer ka ba?".

If I may add, Jay, Ronnie is also worshipping ABS CBN to high heavens. The Kapamilya Network always taps him for its sports coverages and he criticized the PBA for giving the coverage to AKTV.

Ironically, Ronnie also hosts The Main Event which is also shown on AKTV. Where does his loyalty really lie?

Ronnie also works for Viva TV as its sports CEO.

I also heard that he resigned from Inquirer as a columnist and is back with Manila Standard Today.
